I purchased this freezer a couple of months ago; my biggest regret is I did not return it right away. Only the items on the top 2 shelfs keep frozen. I have thrown a few hundred dollars of food in the garbage. I have tried to trouble shoot the problem and everything I was told to try I did with the same results. I put only a few items in the freezer, I moved the location of the freezer and checked everything from seals to position of the freezer. I am not ready to chuck this freezer in the garbage; take to $250 loss and purchasing a new one from a better manufacture. I have made sure everyone knows not to buy this brand.

Freezer nightmare

This lasted 5 months. I received my Thompson upright freezer Sunday, July 5, 2020. It was delivered in the upright position but to be on the safe side, we allowed it to sit upright for at least three or four days before we plugged it in. Afterwards, it set empty for another day or two, and then we slowly began filling it with meat and veggies. It worked great at first but on Friday, December 11, 2020, the entire floor was soaking wet, as the freezer had thawed. We went through all of the required steps. First, because we had a purchased warranty, we were told to contact Curtis International. Due to COVID19, we were not surprised with the delay. Nonetheless, I responded to all of their requests until I received this request today. *Step 1: Cut the cord from the unit. *Step 2: Remove stickers, serial and model number. *Step 3: If one or more of the stickers is not removable then the one that is should be removed. *Step 4: Scratch or write the case file number on the unit using a permanent marker. *Step 5: Send photos when complete. Is this normal???? I assumed they would either send someone to see if it could be repaired or they would send someone to pick it up. I suppose since it is already malfunctioning, then their instructions would not damage the freezer then it already is. I just thought it was odd.

Terrible Freezer- very loud and cooled for maybe a month- took it back and gave it the benefit of the doubt, maybe we just grabbed the “Lemon” ?...........We brought home another one , it was just as loud and did not stay cold...... I take that back, it stayed “cold” but nothing was frozen for 2-3 weeks eventually nothing was even cold- total waste of time and effort!

This is a a gorgeous freezer. It’s aesthetically pleasing and it takes up very little space. It holds exponentially more food than one would think. I love the fact that I can open the door and see all of my food, which is antithetical to a chest freezer. This makes creating a shopping list much easier.

My brother bought this for me as a Christmas gift in 2018. I was so excited that I filled it up with ice cream, frozen wings and steaks. After only 2 months, it just stopped working. I had to throw everything out. The extended warranty through Sam's club was useless as well. Such a big waste of money.

Bought for parents had it delivered there stocked it full of meat and other food for them. and it worked one month then no longer cools the motor is running motor is hot but freezer is not cold. ruined an entire freezer full of food. hundreds of dollars worth of food and we can only get what we paid for the freezer back if we go return it to the store. very unhappy!!!!

Today (3-26-2022) is a year since I purchased this freezer. It’s been in my garage for 1 year in the Inland Empire of Southern California. Worked great! I get all the reviews where people said it was junk or died on them. But for me it’s been awesome. To be truthful, now that I know there are “garage” freezers I would have one of those, rated for high temps in garage, exterior temp gauge and temp controls. But this little unit worked perfect for 1 year and I hope more. I did by aThermoWorks exterior thermometer with an alarm in case it ever loses temp.

Bought in 2016 because my house freezer was really small. Here is it 2023 and it is still going strong. My daughter bought one about 2 to 3 years ago, and hers is still going strong. This freezer is not frost free, so you will have to deforst occasionally. This freezer has lasted through several moves with no problems.

We purchased this freezer in March 2020 and it worked fine until we defrosted it in November per the manufacturers manual. When we plugged it back in and turned it on it started working but only the bottom racks got cold. Then after a day it just stopped working all together. We tried to contact Curtis INT (manufacturer) as per their site for warranty assistance and they only offer email support. Still haven't heard back from them and its been 5 days. Our appliance service guy stated it is not worth him coming out and charging us a service call and repair to fix it. He stated these units aren't really worth repairing and most usually end up in the dump. So I would suggest always getting the extended warranty when thinking about buying one of these Thomson products.
