Freezer stopped working

We bought this freezer about 3 years ago. Just now stopped working. Luckily we noticed it in time otherwise we would have lost everything. If you want a freezer to last you years, do not buy this. We are now in the process of searching for a new freezer. This is an inexpensive freezer option, but thinking about the cost of everything stored in it that we almost lost, going cheap is not worth it.

Shut down within 48 hrs.

I purchased this freezer for my daughter and delivered it 60 miles to her, she transferred and purchased items to put into the freezer during the next 48 hours and it stopped working. Lost all the food- Sam's said bring it back (60 miles) and they would replace or reimburse the freezer. They do not want another one.

You’ll be sorry.

After reading all of the one star reviews I guess I’ll consider myself lucky that my freezer lasted a little over two years. I bought it May 2020 for 229.98 (before the price inflated). It is now fall of 2022 and it died without warning. There was always a bit of ice that built up at the very top/ceiling inside the freezer but I would let it defrost and then reload it with food. I do recall the box saying it needed that done since it wasn’t self defrosting. I only did it once the entire time I had it since the build up wasn’t too bad. Not sure if that is part of what affects the longevity of this hunk of crap or not.

Add me to the list of buying a bad freezer.

I just lost a freezer full of food. This is so hurtful and disappointing. At first the top 2 shelves went out. I followed all instructions.Then it kept frosting up inside. Now it has stopped working entirely, less than a year after purchase. I love the size, but not losing a freezer full of food and the purchase cost. Something is terribly wrong with this product. I was expecting it to last many years. I told my family my freezer had gone out, they responded, didn't you just buy it earlier this year? I am so disappointed and upset. And embarrassed that I have to purchase another freezer so soon.

Total disaster !

I bought the freezer on 11/24/2018 and it stopped working on 12/17/2018. 3 weeks later only! Right before Christmas. I lost the food! I called the manufacturer to get it fixed or replaced. As of today 1/7/2019, I am still waiting. Their customer service is the worst! I brought the freezer back to Sams Club and they took it back no questions asked. Thank you! I took my refund and will not buy that brand ever again.

not recommended at all

We had this freezer for a year with it working fine. Although we were religious in taking care of it by defrosting and cleaning it, at 13 months it just quit working and we were not able to get it started again. Not an expensive freezer, but should last more than a year. I see from the reviews that this has happened to a few other buyers.

NOT GARAGE RATED

BUYER BEWARE! Details say ambient temps below 90 degrees. Well most garages, especially in Arizona, are not below 90 during summer. That being said, bought ours in January 2021. I love the size, the shelves, that its upright...Perfect for what we needed. About a month ago it stopped working. Thankfully I caught it before everything was a total loss. We did have it in our garage so that's on us. However, it seems people are having it stop even if it's indoors. Not sure if I'm going to trash it or YouTube how to fix it. If I do, I'll update my post.

No defrost mechanism

I bought this about a year ago, but noticed within the first two months that it was freezing up really bad with thick ice buildup on all the shelves; especially the top one . Otherwise; it’s a great little freezer . I just have to take everything out of it, put a fan in front of it, then organize my frozen goods back inside . Something that needs to be done occasionally, so I gave it three stars . I could’ve put four though …

It sounds like the door is slightly out of adjustment.Here is a tutorial in how to reduce frost build up:How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately. You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging. Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips. Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.Door Seal Care:Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

Cannot state emphatically enough - DO NOT BUY

Purchased in April 2022 and unit compressor failed January 2024. Was in a HVAC temp controlled area so no extreme temps. Lost $800+ worth of meats since we only check on it or remove items weekly or less often. Thomson warranty is 365 days and we were denied any consideration or compensation. SAVE YOUR MONEY - TERRIBLE QUALITY BUILT TO SURVIVE WARRANTY PERIOD ONLY. Atypical that Sam's Club carries such low quality junk but this batch from the Covid period is wildly unreliable.
