Perfect for my needs.
I bought this several weeks ago. I ordered online and Sams had it waiting by time I got there. The freezer is perfect for my pantry. It works great started cooling within 15 minutes of plugging in. So far love it. There is just me and my wife so perfect size for us.
NOPE
I purchased this in February 2019, July 2019 it died. Returned for a refund. It was kept in a spare bedroom of my house. When I first purchased it, I was going to keep it in the kitchen, but the compressor / condenser noise is so loud I couldn’t stand it. Don’t waste your money.
Perfect fit for my Toy hauler.
Picked mine up at Sams Club Santa Clarita... Unpackaged, inspected, not a dent. Checked inside. The coils embedded in the shelf just means you can't hide grandma in the freezer. So far works great. Have it set up in my Toy Hauler. Throw in 40 pounds of ice and it's like a portable freezer until i get to my destination or i'll Leave it on the solar system at 1 amp per hour draw during freeze up. After freeze up the little freezer draws very little from my 500 watt system on 2 AGM batteries also bought at Sams.
Good Little Freezer
Bought about 2 years ago. Honestly a decent little freezer (keyword here little). Liked it so much we bought a second one in chest style for our daughter. For us though it's proven to be a little hard to organize especially when it gets a little "icy". So it's being replaced with a new Samsung. Which has drawers, and shelf combo along with lighting and in addition to door shelves. But again this is a great little freezer and while being replaced it's not due to a failure or poor quality
Hi lfinato, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your Thomson Upright Freezer.
Pictures are misleading. So far it works well.
The first 3 pictures are of the freezer. The last 3 pictures are of another product, a small refrigerator/freezer. I bought the freezer yesterday, with a 3 year warranty, based on the very questionable reviews. Replacing a 25 year old Kenmore 5.0 cf chest freezer that still works, but looks ragged. So far, it works well. Convenient with the shelves, however this 6.5 cf freezer will not hold as much as the old 5.0 cf chest freezer due to the layout. Just hope it holds up as well as the old Kenmore.
Do Not Recommend
We bought this freezer a few years ago. It worked well (although it regularly over frosted and had to be chipped clean). About 2 years in, the top half of the freezer stopped cooling entirely. We had to toss everything. We defrosted it, let it sit for a while, plugged it back in, only the bottom half works. Highly recommend a standard chest freezer or garage fridge instead.
Hello Amanda, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer. We pride ourselves on our high quality standards and regret that our product didn’t live up to your expectations.
you get what you pay for….
This find was a victory for me as I needed an upright freezer to fit in a small space in my pantry. It fit!!! Space is great for small family! I was surprised how much shelf space for only 6.5 cubic feet! Few things about it that did not make me happy. 1. Large dent right in the middle of the door - I put a magnet over it 2. The sides look dirty but I think it’s just the paint color -It’s in my pantry so I guess I’m ok with it not being beautiful!
Hi AKWells, we are happy to hear your freezer is meeting your needs. We apologize for the dent in your unit door.
Perfect Size for what we needed
This item is something you really need to purchase in store. We bought on-line and was shipped. Weight was 115lbs. It was damaged in shipment but was to heavy for us to take back to local store so we decided just to keep. Worked great just has some bumps and bruises from shipment.
Poorly sealed
I bought this with an extended warranty in October 2020, thank goodness. It frosted up at the top all the time. The frost was so bad, it covered the dial and pushed on the door. I really do NOT like defrosting it all the time. I called in my extended warranty and was given a Sam's Club gift card for the purchase price.
Hello 406girlatheart, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer. We pride ourselves on our high quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations. It sounds like your door was out of adjustment. Here's a tutorial how to adjust a freezer door to eliminate frost. How to Reduce & Resolve Condensation Buildup in Refrigerators & Freezers.Condensation occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, shelves and interior sides of a refrigerator or freezer (Think of a cold glass of water outside on a warm summer day)Steps you can take to reduce condensation build up:Move your hand around the outside of the refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately. You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the refrigerator door to create a tight seal.Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your refrigerator or freezer door, and adjust accordingly.Do not over fill your refrigerator/freezer to prevent food items from shifting and impeding the refrigerator door from closing properly.Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator/freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to condensation build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator.Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.Dry the exterior of food before storing. Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Holding the door open allows humid ambient air to enter the refrigerator/freezer.Fruits and vegetables are typically high in moisture content and when left uncovered/unwrapped, will contribute to humidity in your refrigerator.Door Seal Care:Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.
Working well so far
Its been 2 months since I bought this. Functionally, it is working perfectly so far and freezing everything I put in. I have crammed so much stuff in it so that it is completely packed, still everything is wonderfully frozen with no issues. I have it in my garage in Arkansas which gets really hot during the day, but so far no problems. But the one I bought came with a ding on the side and a broken plastic on the top as well as one inside. Its shelves were also hard to align.
