Can't tell you how it works. damaged.

This is not a frost-free freezer. The cooling coils are built into the shelves and are not adjustable. Again not anything I wasn't expecting. Unfortunately quality control during assembly is not what it should be. I got it out of the box and attempted to open the door. The whole door just came off in my hand. The top cap holds the pin that makes up the door hinge. When it was assembled the pin wasn't aligned with the door. It was forced down causing the crack in the top plate pictured. With the top plate cracked it will no longer hold the top hinge in place. I happen to be going by the store tomorrow morning. The freezer is getting returned. Not sure if I will replace it or look for something better constructed. The price and size are right for what I need. Not sure about a recommendation to a friend. Returned it to the local club and exchanged for another one. The new freezer was not damaged when I unpacked it. Plugged in now waiting for it to cool. I'll update when It is in use.

Horrible assembly

So upset when the freezer arrived. My husband had to literally rebuild the entire thing!!! He had to pound the side out, redrill a screw for the door so it can actually stay on and bust the top so it can even close! It is cooling down so I hope it freezes stuff but the physical quality of it sucks!

Very disappointed in the condition of the product.

The freezer itself is working properly, maintaining a consistent temperature, and is keeping items frozen. I, however, am disappointed in the condition the freezer arrived. The packaging did not appear damaged but as my husband and I unloaded it we noticed a large gouge in the plastic housing at the top of the freezer and a sizable dent in the side. It is irritating to have paid for a brand new appliance, only to have it arrive dinged up.

Do You Feel Lucky?

This was a great freezer while it worked. It took up minimal floor space, plenty of upright food storage space, and plenty cold. It makes me all the sadder when it abruptly stopped working after 10 months. My troubleshooting has led me to guess it has sprung a sizable coolant leak and requires a major repair job to fix. I wish I new this before, but Igloo sources out their warranty to Curtis International and not many people like them and here is why. They don't have local people around to repair items under warranty. You have to pay to mail it to and back from Canton Minnesota (with an additional $7 warranty fee), and their have been numerous instances when the returned product wasn't fixed. The shipping costs alone far exceed the value of the freezer brand new. After researching some more, I've found that 1 out of 10 freezers will break after the return grace period of Best Buy and before the 1 year warranty is up. The odds of the freezer breaking after the warranty go up very quickly. Odds are, if you get this freezer it will probably last a few years. You should just know that if it does break that no one will fix it under your warranty, self repair or hiring someone else will both cost more than half the cost of the freezer, and it will likely break again. I'm not going to ask if you feel it ethical to buy from a company that uses such practices; I'm going to ask, "Do you you feel lucky?" Odds are you won't draw the short straw, but if you do then all the money you spent on this freezer goes down the drain.

CHEAP

I know you usually get what you pay for and this is an inexpensive freezer HOWEVER it is very cheap. After getting it home it was missing a leg. I went back to the store and they were very nice and gave me the missing leg. But when I got home the hole wasn't even drilled out for the leg to be screwed in. I am very disgusted with the whole process and it is going back to the store.

Do not buy Igloo

I had the same issue on a different model. It stopped working after only 3 months and I lost over $300 worth of food!!! I had the same problems with the outsourced "service" from Curtis International which was a joke. Luckily mine happened within the 90 day return policy for Walmart, so I was able to bypass the company completely and just return the item to Walmart and I purchased a Haier instead which has been working beautifully with no problems for about 5 months so far. So luckily I was just out all of the time and food and was able to recoup the appliance cost at least.

Do. Not. Buy!

I had second thoughts when purchasing. Should've followed my instinct. It didn't include the plug! I knew it was too good to be true. I'll spend the extra monies and get a name brand/decent freezer. PLEASE, don't waste your money! Shame, shame, shame on Sams Club for carrying/selling this item.

Awful

First of all, it was on its side at the store. Apparently that's something you don't do with it if you want it to work. So, guess what? That's right, it doesn't work. Fun part is I'm not sure if they will pick it up since we had to bring it home ourselves. They wouldn't ship it to us, even as plus members.

Freezer Junk

We purchased this unit on line with Sam's Club, upon arrival it didn't work, it would not cool much less freeze anything. I contacted the Thompson under the terms of the warranty to have them repair the unit. They wanted photo's of the front, back of the unit, serial and model number, a copy of the bill of sale and a copy of the bill all of which I emailed them. They also wanted a copy of lading which I didn't have since I wasn't the shipper. Long story short, Thompson nothing to repair or replace the unit. Over a course of four or five days nothing was done except waste my time. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNIT BECAUSE THE SUPPLIER /MANUFACTURE WILL NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY SELL!!!!!!!!!
