Not worth the money!

Bought this gem 13 days ago - it worked fine for the first 11.5 days and then just quit - ruining close to $350 worth of food. Wouldn't have another if it was given to me for free!

Good thing I caught it early

I bought this 06/07/2020, here we are 11/23/2021 and it stopped working 2 days ago.. Luckily I was able to save my food with the sacrifice of some minor items.

Poor Quality Product

I purchased one in early November but it arrived damaged as the door just fell off. That was returned and a replacement was ordered. It arrived today and it was also damaged. I am going to request a refund from Sams Club.

Not great!

If you go to open the door, the unit comes with it. The upper inside of the door has condensation and then cause major frost. I'm going to return it. I'm very disappointed.

Hi Mleon it sounds like your door is out of adjustment. The condensation is caused by humid room air entering the freezer and condensing.
You can loosen the upper hinge to adjust the door and you can adjust the feet on the bottom as well to have the door seal properly. Adjust the bottom feet/legs so the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear to have gravity assist in closing the door properly.

Sorry to say had it only for 1year in a half and the compression went out . No longer in warranty and my loss didn’t buy extended warranty. Cost more then freezer to fix . Very disappointed never bought an appliance that lasted such a short time.

junk

I would not buy this freezer. I’ve only had it alittle over a year and it’s not working. There’s no point in calling a repairman bc it cost 100.00 for them to even come out. Don’t waste your hard earned money.

Defrost every two weeks

I bought this freezer a year ago. It does freeze, but it does not seal properly. We have to defrost about every two weeks. We should have taken it back.

Hello Grandma, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer. We pride ourselves on our high quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations.
It sounds like your door is out of adjustment allowing warm humid ambient air to enter the freezer where the moisture condenses and freezes. Here's a tutorial on how to reduce frost & condensation in freezers and refrigerators.
How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

I like upright type freezer.

Perfect for the two of us forbrxtra freezer space. I like the shelves. Its easier to find things than a chest freezer that you have to dig around to get at items. The price was good too.

Do not buy

Got it home and unpacked it - has a huge dent all the way down the front of it - ridiculous - now we are expected to pack it up and take it all the way back to the store
