In my experience, tide powder is the best. The only use I have for the liquid, is to pretreat oily spots. So, pods are out. I only wish there were single usage packaging. Husband and grandkids, you know... I DO, repackage my powder into big ziplock bags, which I then place in the original carton. Less lumpy that way. AND, I measure out exactly how much is meant by the lines in the stupid scoops. (It differs by The “type” of tide... sigh). I then use a two tablespoon scoop to measure out the correct amount for my loads. OTHERWISE, I use too much, and it doesn't rinse out properly. Even with all of that finagling, Tide powder is still (hands down) the best at cleaning my laundry!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using original (boxed powder) Tide detergent for over 40 years, but I'm afraid we just can't handle this new scent anymore. My husband has been saying to me that he noticed and felt and smelled something different with our Tide and I told him it was his imagination. I have never been any fan of any scents/fragrances mostly due to my asthma, but I was used to the original (old) Tide. Our granddaughter helped us find this: Recently, we updated the formula for our Tide Original Powder, adding freshness technology for a nice scent during the laundry process and more scent after the clothes dry. Our testing and research showed us this was a great addition ........ A PERFUME SYSTEM UPGRADE? So many people have so many different allergies and so many establishments are trying to adopt fragrance-free policies. We understand that many folks like to smell like a bottle of fragrance and that's why there's Axe and Gain laundry detergent and other potent options. Couldn't you have kept your foo-foo fragrances in your other products/models and LEFT ORIGINAL TIDE ALONE?? PLEASE GO BACK TO THE WAY THIS HAS BEEN FORMULATED FOR THE LAST FEW DECADES. We have been soooooo disappointed in your re-formulation the last several months. Make it Tide ORIGINAL Powder Laundry Detergent again :-)

Count me among the many people here stating that they suffered health problems from the new formula. I had symptoms similar to UTIs, BV, and/or yeast for several months but test after test came back negative. I thought I was going insane. Turned out to be my laundry detergent and resolved as soon as I switched.

I have used Tide Original Powder laundry detergent for years. It has been a wonderful product to use. I just finished up a large box and opened a new one today. Immediately upon opening I could tell something was different - an overpowering smell was coming from the new box. The smell is not a pleasant one. I am very unhappy with this - I guess I will need to find a new detergent and I hope I can get my money back from this purchase. It's a shame Tide changed this product!

I've used Tide since I was a kid living with my parents. When I moved out on my own I started using liquid because it seemed like the new cool thing. Now that I'm a mom to 3 little kids I've went back to this powder. I'm not really sure how they fit all the magic inside this box but its unbelievable. I use it for washing our floors, getting paint off the wood floors, for washing clothes, for washing just about anything. If you're trying to keep your clothes and house clean this is the only product you need.

This is one of my favorite heavy duty, stain releasing laundry detergents. It's super effective, my husband works in construction and his work clothes are usually super dirty. I've tried using regular laundry detergents that claim to have superior stain releasing properties and they just don't cut it for his work clothes. I have had luck using other detergents with an additional scoop of laundry boosters, but they don't clean as well as Tide Ultra Stain Release and buying the two products to add to one load can get expensive quickly. The Tide Ultra Stain Release can handle the mess, even in the "eco-warm" setting on my older HE washing machine, it's even on the list of preferred laundry detergents to use in my machine. The Tide website says the the Tide Ultra Stain Release detergent "will remove 99% of everyday stains versus Tide Original" and I find that to be very true. It leaves whites nice and bright and it doesn't fade my color loads. I also like the fact that you don't have to use that much for it to work well, other detergents I'll have to wash twice using at least double the detergent. I don't have the time to wash his work clothes loads twice, I'm very pleased with this detergent, I've used it for years. The scent is great too. It smells fresh and clean, but not floral, it's not overbearing. Now if it could just teach my stepdaughter not to overload the machine it would solve all of my challenging laundry machine issues!

I use the stuff all the time! I use it to clean my house and in laundry! It's like magic in a box! I feel like there is not a stain this can't get out! It's always amazing to clean bathrooms, floors, shoes, I mean it you can use this for anything! I highly recommend using this!!

I exclusively buy Tide powder laundry detergent. I haven't bought other detergent in years. I use less than recommended, and my clothes always come out perfectly, always using cold water. I love that it's not only easier to deal with, it lasts longer because of the size, and it's a greener option because the container is cardboard instead of plastic. I will continue to buy Tide detergent!

This is one of the best detergents ever and it's probably the only one I use consistently. I also use this to clean the rest of my house thanks to Instagram and it's definitely noticeable. This thing is a powerhouse when it comes to cleaning and laundry!

I'm using this a ton lately, and for more than just laundry. (Thank you, @gocleanco!) A tsp of powdered Tide and a splash of chlorine bleach in about 1 qt of water does wonders on the grout in our shower when it gets grimy. Just hit it liberally with a scrub brush. I also use about 1 tsp with a gallon of hot water to mop my hardwood floors. And for laundry of course.
