Not 5 Minutes, More Like 5 Hours

I've made these as directed and like other reviews they had a gritty texture which is not pleasant. I've given them a few more tries using different liquids and cooking times. So far the creamiest grits were cooked in my small/mini slow cooker for about 6 hours or so on low using water. Butter, cheese and salt at the end was needed for flavor; they were terribly bland otherwise. Thanks to the other reviews who suggested the slow cooker. Good luck everyone!

Ignore the Expiration Date

This is a food service pack of 15 pounds of grits. The intended customer for that amount is a food service provider. Setting aside that intention, the "expiration date" as some people call it is actually a "best by" date. It even shows that in the photos people are uploading for this product complaining about expiration dates. I purchased this pack in 2020 and the best by date shows August 2020. It is now 2023 and the grits still cook exactly as they always have and taste great. Just keep the product away from bugs, moisture, and store in a stable temperature environment.

Not enjoying Quaker quick grits anymore

We've been using your product for YEARS!! But opening the latest bag showed us that something has changed and not for the better. The color is off, they are grainy, not enjoyable when cooked. I think you need to go back to the other recipe or I'll have to find a new and better product.

Old Fashioned/New Taste

I’ll admit they have changed their style a lil bit. But they just need to update the cooking timeframe etc. also add in some butter so they don’t burn for cooking them a lil longer as well. It works. Wil be to your taste of creamy ness that we all grew up on. Southern Boy.

Grit Texture is Off!

Our family has been enjoying your grits for years. However, with our last purchase we noticed that no matter how we prepared the grits the texture is not suitable to eat. It is apparent that you changed the ingredients or the processing of them. This is very disturbing and almost unethical. Don’t you think in full disclosure you should advise consumers of changes on the product labeling?

Good product, excellent price ...

Basically, they are Quaker Grits. I have found, in all my years shopping, I simply can't go wrong with any Quaker product. There are some Quaker products that I don't care for, not because of the quality, but, I simply do not like the taste, of the product. I have been shopping for almost 52 years and Quaker has rarely disappointed me. I prefer the 5 minute Grits and the price, per each, is a good savings. I shared this, with my daughter. My Hubby and I, simply could not eat 15 lbs. of Grits, but, one bag will last us, quite awhile.

I started in 1997

I'm a NYC guy and never thought grits would be a part of my diet! In 1997, I was introduced to them and I've loved them ever since. Now, I eat them as part of a heart-healthy, low sodium diet. Now, I add butter, salt-free seasoning, garlic and garlic powder, and muenster cheese. I know you folks have a cheesy grits...I'd rather make my own because I have to look out for sodium. My only thing is (because I track my calories and other nutrients): if the serving size is a 1/4 cup, I can take a 1/2 cup--and I do--but it looks like there's so much more than 3 servings left. I probably have 8 servings left. Sorry...I get lost in the math/serving sizes...You might have answered this before, but 1 cup of grits + 4 cups water makes a lot more than 4 servings. I'm having trouble being accurate in my measurements. Can you help a fella out?

These grits are great

These grits are great for some quick 5 minutes instant grits. The quality is definitely there. I have done many different things with it as well, it's quite versatile. I've made it sweet, for a hot breakfast cereal, and I've also made it savory for dinner, with shrimp and grits. Highly reccomend this product!

I have been eating these quick grits whenever I was in my 20's. They are very warm and filling. I buy them before I run out. There is nothing you can do to improve the delicious flavor of these grits. Except to add Sharp Cheddar cheese and butter at the end before serving.
