My families favorite breakfast

This is my recipe for a quick breakfast. I make one half box of grits with 8 cups of water, salt, pepper and butter and cook in the microwave in a large bowl with a paper plate as the cover so that it does not bowl over. Cook for 15 minutes and the grits come out perfect.. Spoon a portion of grits into a bowl, add egg beaters, bacon, feta cheese and coby jack cheese and microwave for about 4 minutes. This is a great breakfast bowl. You can refridgerate the remain grits. The next morning just pull out the grits and make more breakfast bowls with your desired ingredients.

Pathetic product

You can cook Quaker grits longer or with more water, but this stuff remains as gritty as sand. ... well almost. It's bad. It is not the quality from the past. I will stop buying Quaker products. //. I did not read the product reviews before buying because I was already a long time customer. However, I deliberately read the other reviews today after having the same bad quality over the past year. I wanted to see if anyone else had the same bad experience with Quaker.

For instant they're pretty ok

They're good flavor for instant. Definitely not homemade. Mostly because of how the production methods. But, personally I have been able to get rid of some of the gritiness(like the roughness). All I do is put it in my spice grinder, food processor or blender. I use at least half whole milk or half and half. And, put in all the traditional add-ons from my youth. It comes out more towards homemade. But, I still have to take into account that they are instant not homemade. I liken it to instant mashed potatoes.

Grits are one of

Grits are one of my favorite things whether it's morning or I just get a craving for them when I open up the cabinet. I don't think there's anything you could do to improve this product it's great just the way it is. The packaging really keeps the grits fresh for a long period of time.

I’m a Georgia girl,

I’m a Georgia girl, so grits have always been a pantry staple in my home. Quaker is the brand I grew up eating and continue to purchase for my family. I love the “Quick 5 Minute” variety because it takes the time and hassle out of making a filling breakfast for my daughter to enjoy before sports practice on Saturday mornings. Just pour some in a bowl and pop into the microwave with water or add to boiling water on the stove to cook. I also frequently reach for these after a long day to create a simple “breakfast for dinner” moment. Serving them hot with scrambled eggs, bacon, and buttered biscuits with jam make these a delicious meal any time of day!

There's no better breakfast like a hot bowl of grits with egg and turkey sauce on the side. I like my grits with a spoon of added butter so yummy. A family classic for many many years. Even though the packaging says quick 5 mins I love to cook the grains down as long as possible I hate it to have a grainy taste.

Very sad

As a long time ,daily user of this products (decades) I am so disappointed. Lately my 5 minute grits have required double that cook time and producing off colored, clumpy, vinegar and oil type consistency. My cooking process including stove top and water has not changed so I'm thinking it is a recipe change. If so, please revert back to your old recipe or I will no longer be purchasing this product. So sad.

Grit taste solved

I had the same issues as everyone else, but I decided to do some prombkem solving. I went and grab a 1qt pot boiled some more water to high temps and poured little at a time in side whisking like crazy. then I let it sit simmering for 7 min then taste and continue. I must admit I originally did 2 portions of grits. The 2 portions called for 2 cups of water but I used whole milk for the second cup. I think that caused for less liquid to be available in the pot to be absorbed. But I got it right by just adding boiling water little at a time then letting it simmer.

Convenient, great taste. The grits can be made in the microwave or by just adding hot water. The carbohydrate level is a bit high. I would like them to be non-GMO, and think a big company like Quaker Oats should be more responsible in the products it sells. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Great for Cajun Shrimp and Grits!

For a quick meal of Cajun Shrimp & Grits, this can't be beat! My family never even ate grits until we visited Savannah and Charleston. I use chicken stock instead of water, plus a bit of cream at the end to make them even more soft, creamy, and flavorful before adding the shredded cheddar cheese and topping it with the bacon/shrimp/scallion/garlic mixture.
