It does NOT take AAA batteries, but a specialized smaller version that you cannot buy. The AAA batteries that you buy are too large to fit in the battery slots making the scale useless once the batteries run out. The packaging is not true. I bought it because I need to use battery power. If the packaging was honest I would have known to get something else.

I've used this scale for over two years. Really like it a lot. Small space. Very accurate. I like that the readout is connected to the actual scale via cord so you it's easier to read the weight. HOWEVER - the AAA batteries it comes with ... they're slightly thinner than normal brand AAA batteries (Duracell, Ray O Vac, etc.). This hasn't been an issue until two days agao when I received a LOW warning signal on the display and it wouldn't work. Went to replace the batter with some Energizer batters (AAA) I have. The compartment does NOT accept normal size AAA batteries unless you REALLY cram them in there. And after I did that, it wouldn't work because the batteries weren't making proper contacts. And, boy, getting the "too big" AAA batteries out ... took an act of God. After about 30 mins ... finally got them out. I figured out a work around. Get AAAA batteries (they're skinnier than AAA batteries). Pull the coils on the ends of each battery contact in the compartment. You can use AAAA batteries - it will work. But we shouldn't have to do this. I prefer using regular brand AAA batteries. But you can't.

The batteries that come with it are marked as AAA but are slightly smaller. Sounds crazy but true. They are much lighter also so probably don't last too long. You can cram regular AAA batteries in there but it is literally so tight that you can not move them to make contact.

Loved this scale for 11 months. Then I needed to replace the batteries. None of the American batteries would fit. The Chinese batteries are a tad smaller. My husband forced new batteries in and now the scale is inaccurate. It weighs 4 ounces less on a 6 lb package so I bought the wrong postage

This review applies only to powering the scale with 4 AAA batteries. I just tried to replace the pre-installed batteries with Duracell AAA's. Unlike the pre-installed batteries, the Duracells **do NOT easily** fit into the wired remote! Although I don't recommend doing this (I might've gotten lucky; the wired remote didn't crack), I forced the Duracells in, but then the wired remote would NOT come on. Afterwards, I plugged in the USB cable, and the remote came on just fine. The pre-installed batteries were not a brand I recognized, but they must've been slightly smaller in diameter than the Duracells. I just hope I never have to rely on battery power! Given this problem, I would not recommend this product.

I bought this scale to replace an older Royal scale we use for smaller packages. The new scale works well & I like the separate control box, my only complaint is it comes with a usb style power cord, but it does not come with an AC adapter to plug the cord into. We had to borrow one from a phone charger to be able to weigh packages.

This scale works well and we've bought several.

It has the capacity to weigh 110 lbs And it’s small so it doesn’t take up a lot of room Perfect!! I bought one for my brother too!

Purchased a month ago primarily for the remote display feature this scale offered so I could read the weight of larger boxes that covered the display of the scale I had owned. It works great for my UPS shipping.

I bought this to replace a 40-year old antique I'd been using for a long time. What a joy this is to use. Lightweight, compact, easy to use, accurate, has a large weight range, and a great price on top of all that. So happy I made this purchase.
