I found the taste and texture to be slightly different from what I'm used to because it's packed in olive oil, not water. I found that I did not need to use as much mayo when making tuna salad because of this. I used it to make my usual tuna salad sandwich for lunch; however, next time I would like to use it to make tuna patties as I think it would be great for that when I have more time. It's definitely of a higher quality, which means it brings a higher price tag. It's nice for a treat once in a while, but I do not see myself buying it all the time.

The flavor was so delicious and not fishy at all. The olive oil helps keep the fish from drying out so it has a pleasantly rich texture. I used this tuna to make Kimchi Tuna Salad. I've made this recipe several times with other tuna but this turned out the best. This tuna doesn't have a fishy flavor so the flavor of the other ingredients can really come forward. I will be looking for this tuna at my grocery store. I think the quality of the tuna is well worth the price. As a pescatarian I eat tuna several times as week as my source of protein. This tuna makes any recipe rich, hearty and delicious. It takes your meal to the next level. I have been craving it ever since I tried it!

The amount of olive oil is perfect. The price is great because the quality and taste of this tuna is top tier. No other tuna has caught my attention like this brand of tuna. And the cans were so easy to open. A easy, quick, and tasty snack. This tuna has made me fall in love with tuna. Before I would just eat tuna and it was okay. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Rio Mare Solid Light Wild Tuna in Olive Oil product from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was pleasantly surprised at the appearance, texture, and taste of this tuna product. The Wild Tuna is perfectly moist and I found no need to drain the tuna prior to use, as there was not excessive oil like there usually is with most cans of tuna in water. The taste was pleasant as well; good taste without that foul fishy taste and smell of many other tuna brands. I used the provided sample of the Rio Mare Solid Light Wild Tuna in Olive Oil to make a tuna noodle casserole and it turned out great! My husband, who is not typically a fan of tuna, ate it without question. While this particular tuna does have a much higher price point than most other tunas on the shelf, I value good quality food products for my family, and appreciate the lack of preservatives and only 3 quality ingredients in this product. Thus, while I couldn't pay this price frequently for a small can of tuna, we don't use tuna on a weekly basis, and thus, I would buy this Wild Tuna when I had tuna noodle casserole on the menu. The moisture/texture of the tuna, its taste, and the absence of chemicals and other undesirable preservatives in this Rio Mare brand of tuna stands out to me the most.

The olive oil and tuna taste super high-quality and it is great either straight out of the tin as a snack, or mixed in tuna salad, etc. I received this Rio Mare tuna as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I was so happy to have discovered it. The texture is great, the taste is high-quality and it is a notch above the other basic cans you might find at the store. There were no little bones in it either. The price is a bit higher, but I think you get what you pay for in this case. I ate half a tin just plain, which was delicious and added the other half to my tuna salad recipe, which turned out great. This will be my go-to canned tuna for my family moving forward. Delish!

It’s in a light EVOO that really elevates the flavor and locks in the moisture without being watery or bland. No need to drain!! The taste was cleaner and fresher than other canned tuna. It clearly was high quality, delicious tuna versus other canned tuna. It is a great quality that it is excellent on its own. But we also tried some with crackers and it was also great with some mayonnaise and pepper. The quality is worth the price. Other canned tuna may be cheaper, but they do not taste nor have the same stellar mouth-feel - it was not dry, and it was very delicious, so it is worth it for people who don't want to suffer through dry, lower quality, cheaper cans. Really, I was surprised by the flavor and texture. It felt like actually eating a quality tuna that wasn't mass produced in a factory. It felt like a much more pleasurable, non-can-like experience. The packaging and branding immediately stand out and make it feel like a step above your typical canned tuna. It looks premium right out of the gate. For context, I’m not a huge fish person, but I’ve always enjoyed a good tuna sandwich. I made a classic melt on crusty bread with mayo, seasonings, and some veggies. The texture was solid and it definitely felt like a high-quality product, but the flavor leaned much fishier than I expected. For me, it was a bit overpowering. I also wasn’t entirely sure how to approach the olive oil. I’m used to draining tuna packed in water, and while you can keep the oil, it made everything feel heavier once I added mayo and other ingredients. It might just be an adjustment thing, but it threw me off a bit. That said, I can see this being a great option for someone who really loves tuna and wants a richer, more pronounced flavor. The pull tab can is a nice touch and makes it easy to open. Overall: high-quality and well-packaged, but the stronger flavor and oil-packed style weren’t quite for me.

I received this canned tuna product from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and was ecstatic when it arrived since I’ve previously never been able to find it outside of Italy, even in specialty italian grocers. It is delicious, rich and moist and in perfect oil, We eat tuna at least twice a week in my home, it’s so easy, delicious, versatile and packed with protein. My favorite is making an italian style tuna salad with some chopped olives, capers, roasted red pepper, red onion, parsley, lemon, vinegar, and really anything else we have in hand.
