[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I think of canned tuna, I think of the canned tuna of the 90s, mixing it with a ton of mayo, etc. Rio Mare is different - the can itself makes me feel like I'm about to make lunch at my Italian villa. It's in oil, so I didn't need to drain or any mayo to make it edible. The texture is softer and flakier than other brands, which I think makes it more enjoyable to eat. I mixed in some mustard and relish as well as a little salt and pepper. I think it would be good just with salt and pepper if you're a purist. I ate it with crackers, I'm sure it would be just as good, if not better a million other ways. It's spendy for a can of tuna, but given the price of groceries these days I do think if you're a tuna lover that it's worth the cost. Plus I liked that you don't have to add much to it to make it a meal. I received the can as a part of the Stellar Produict Testing Panel, but I will definitely purchase it again!

It is definitely pricier than standard tuna, but the higher quality, better texture, and more elevated taste make it feel worth it if you actually enjoy tuna as a main ingredient rather than just a quick filler. The olive oil helped preserve and enhance the tuna without being too oily. I actually liked that I did not have to drain the can like I normally do. The texture and taste are significantly better than the other tuna cans I've had. It was so good I ate 3/4ths of the tuna straight from the can! The other 1/4th I mixed with some mayo and celery and ate with crackers. It was light yet filling and tasted better than expected with every bite. This high protein snack made me crave more. I liked the light pink packaging and the labeling on the can as well. The quality relative to the price makes sense, as this product is of high quality. It would be better if there was a more specific label that says " wild caught or farm raised" that would make me feel better. I liked that it has a sustainable seafood certification. I want to trust that it actually was sustainably produced and hopefully not just marketing. After receiving through a Stellar Product testing panel, I would highly recommend.

The lid has a nice pop top making it easy to open without the need for a can opener or worse dangerous tools. The texture was firm but flaky. In comparison to other brands, the tuna held together when I pierced it with a fork and didn't fall apart because it's been sitting in juice for a long time on the shelves. I really enjoyed the taste, it wasn't overly fishy and had a great texture. The olive oil complimented the fishy without making the texture feel too fatty. The Rio Mare Solid Light Wild Tuna in Olive Oil was by far the best canned tuna I have ever had. It was very light and flakey. It tasted incredibly fresh. I had a couple bites directly and then used the rest in a salad. The texture was excellent. I appreciated that it was not too oily and that it did not have a strong fishy taste or smell to it (two things I am very particular about). It is certainly more than I would typically spend on canned tuna, but it was definitely worth it and I would for sure pay the price in the future!

It’s a higher end quality of tuna than you normally find at the grocery store and I will absolutely be back for more. I tend to stick to the same brand of tuna, but I preferred this product due to the softer, flakier texture. It also tasted less salty or "processes" compared to other canned tuna I have had. I even gave this to my toddler daughter spread on toast and she loved it! Overall, I felt that the product was worth the price, getting 3 cans in the package. I will continue to purchase this product when making any canned tuna recipes.

There is so much more flavor because of the olive oil and it makes it so much more moist. I made my favorite tuna melt sandwich and it had more flavor and was not dried out at all. I would highly recommend trying tuna in olive oil versus water if you want a more flavorful tuna experience.
