Having a large family I love that there are multiple brewing options. I have used whole beans with several different styles. But there's an option for ground coffee. At first glance, the machine might look a bit complex, but it is super easy to set up. It comes with an instruction manual and DeLonghi's signature coffee beans! For those who are new to this type of machine, here are some important points that might help you: 1. Before you start using the coffee maker, rinse all the parts that will come into contact with water — the water tank and milk carafe — using drinking water. 2. Switch on the machine, and it will guide you through a few steps. Dip the provided water hardness strip in a cup of drinking water for two seconds. After about a minute, pink squares will appear, indicating the water hardness level. Enter the result when prompted by the machine. If you have hard water, it will suggest inserting the provided water filter into the water tank. 3. Whenever you switch on/off the coffee maker, it will run a quick hot cycle to heat/clean things up. This arrived in the mail well packaged and easy to remove. The unit was easy to set up. The machine will grind whole coffee beans on demand and brew it in many different ways. It will also add frothed milk to your beverage. The milk carafe is detachable and can be swapped for a hot water option. This is a feature I appreciate, the hot water dispenser does not use the same area as the coffee. This allows the hot water to not have a coffee flavor. I have tried many different preprogrammed drinks. Each one as amazing as the next. As long as the machine is loaded it will easily make delightful beverages. You cannot customize each drink to your preference. From strong brew to light and amount, small up to extra large. You can also save beverage preferences in three different user settings making it easy to brew your favorite beverage. I am learning new things about it each time I use it. When it needs to be cleaned or rinsed out the machine will display a message and tell you what needs to be done. So far it has not been difficult to clean and maintain. The parts are easy to access and clean. This is a super fun machine for coffee or hot beverage enthusiasts. You cannot go wrong with this machine. It is amazing!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely LOVE this espresso machine. I had a Breville before this, but this machine is so much better! I'm not going to lie, I was initially intimidated by the amount of steps in the setup guide, but the machine actually steps through the setup in a very easy manner to suit all skill levels. And beyond the setup steps, you can also adjust the grind of your beans which has been fun for me to find the right setting. I love that it grinds beans fresh for each drink and the automated choices are so nice. I feel like there are plenty of drink options to satisfy whatever I'm craving. That said, I do wish that the machine offered a straight latte option, not only a latte macchiato. To make a latte I end up needing to make an espresso first and then separately froth milk. I have tried almost all the options and my favorites are Americanos, hot water for tea, and milk froth. The coffee option is my least favorite, but this is an espresso machine, not a coffee machine so I can't hold that against it. And once you do pick a drink, you get the option to select your size (small, medium, large, and extra large) and then the strength of the coffee from 0-5. Cleanup is also pretty easy. There's a container that holds the used grinds until the screen tells you to empty it, and when you go to turn off the machine it empties out anything left in the spout. I haven't tried it yet, but the ability to set your personal drink is a nice touch. Apart from the latte option, I really have nothing bad to say and have been making drinks at home so much more frequently than going out to buy a drink so I've been saving a lot in that department. This will easily be a kitchen staple for me for many years to come.

However, I do have one main issue with the machine. I'm not sure if mine is defective or not but none of the drinks come out hot. No matter what I do, they're always lukewarm, even with the setting on the hottest option. Other than that I really enjoy it I just wish it would produce actual hot drinks

It uses grounds or beans which is great to have the option for both. Love the customized settings on this for drinks. My wife and I are big coffee drinkers, she cannot skip a day and this has been used everyday since we have had it. Latte macchiato is our favorite so far! The frother is amazing. Works perfect every time plus it is easy storage! The options on this give the ability to make whatever you feel like to start your day. Who needs a coffee shop when we have one now at home?? And it's so simple! This is absolutely a must have for any coffee drinker to have in their kitchen.

It's very intuitive, customizable and fun to continue testing different brews. It's also SO easy to clean! This video was before we figured out that you can move the spout to the center so you don't actually have to move the coffee cup to the side where coffee is brewed. Over the past few years I've tested drip, pour over, and French press coffee but this by far exceeds in taste and clean up. I can't recommend it enough.
