Breaking in

I just took delivery and have read the QuickStart instructions for this inverter generator so I cannot report how the unit operates. I can however say I like the design/layout of the control panel and the aperence of ease of use. If easy, I will update this review once I have run the required break in period.

A lot of bang for your buck!

Amazing generator - Not only the wattage, but the fact that it runs on dual fuels. It has everything you need, including a built-in battery charger. And it has a remote start. Very easy assembly, the handle and wheels makes it easy to move. This generator can also be linked to a second generator to provide over 20,000 W. And it has what the all important 50 amp plug!

    Quality Quality Quality

Talk about quality! The tools provided for simple wheel and handle installation are good enough for my toolbox! I purchased the iGEN11000 Inverter Generator and am very please with the quality fittings, electronics and everything you need to power up and get going when the lights go out.

    Nice and Quiet Powerhouse !

This generator is great! Ran it for the 5 hour break-in period and was surprised how quiet the inverter is compared to other generators I’ve had in the past. It handles loads well with varying speeds. The digital read out is really nice. And the remote start feature is handy. Assembly is simple and everything comes in the box. I’m happy with this purchase.

Easy setup, easy start, nice and quiet

While this was somewhat heavy I was still able to unbox it and set it up by myself with little difficulty. After adding the oil, I hooked it up to a handy propane tank and it fired right up. I was surprised at how quiet it was, the neighbors couldn't hear it from inside their houses and I was unable to hear it from the street. I hooked up a couple of hair dryers to simulate a load (under 50% because break in) and it wasn't noticeably louder. Yeah, this is still brand new to use but I think it's going to be great!

    Inverter generator

I’m so happy with this purchase easy setup. Easy instructions I love everything about this best generator out there especially with the historic name of Westinghouse they know how to build generators. My family has piece of mind if our power goes out we never have to worry again

    Great Inverter

Just purchased the iGen11000DFc to use as whole home generator. Haven't gotten a chance to use. Everything about it seems to be straight forward EXCEPT for how to turn off the gas.. I'm going to assume you would turn the fuel switch to propane but there is nothing in the Manuel to indicate this. I guess I will just have to run it and switch to propane (with no tank attached) to see what happens. If someone reads this that knows the answer please respond.

    So far, so good

After looking at a variety of generator brands, I decide the iGen11000DFc gave me what I wanted at the right price point. It was easy to setup and I've tested it using gasoline, a 20lb propane tank, and my 250 gal propane tank (I had a plumber set that up). I filled it with the oil that came with the generator, replaced the oil dipstick with a magnetic dipstick from GenExhaust, ran it for 30 minutes on gasoline and then 30 minutes on propane, and then changed the oil to a 5W-30 synthetic.

    Easy Assembly, started right up

I havent put it underload just yet, but the assembly was easy and it started easily. In reading the manual I did opt not to use the supplied oil, as our low temps can easily be below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I opted for this model because it is an enclosed inverter generator, while it is true we have whole house surge protection, the idea of having <3% THD is attractive to protect the many electronic boards in some of the strangest places in the house :)

    So easy to use!

I bought this for an emergency backup generator. Thankfully haven't had the need for it yet, but I think it'll more than power what we need. I wanted a generator that would be easy enough for my wife to start if I weren't home. The power button and remote make starting this thing a snap. Everything is so well labeled, also, that it'd be impossible to make a wrong connection. So far I've only ran it on propane, and just enough to get through the initial 4 to 5 hour break-in period. I've changed the oil twice, per recommendations, and both times it remained very clear. During the break-in period I ran my table saw, some fans, and a shop vac. It powered them all without problem. It's very heavy, but doesn't seem so with the wheels and...

    Easy to operate!

Using this as a portable home back up generator. Easy to run. Running it on propane, but have gasoline back up if the propane gets consumed. Controls are easy. I used to use a 4400 watt conventional generator. Starts readily. Have a 50 amp input circuit breaker with main breaker lockout slide - I'm not running my dryer, oven, or range, but I can run central AC (new 4 ton unit, variable speed, easy start up), fridge/freezer, and microwave. Plus TV, stereo, things to avoid the misery index... The generator says it'll hold just over a quart of oil, but be careful of overfilling. Make sure you have the generator on a level surface and I'm starting with about half a quart, letting the level equilibrate, then re-checking, adding in...

    iGen11000DFc

This is my second Westinghouse iGen. The iGen 5000 works well with my 30amp RV, but I now have one with 2 AC units and the iGen11000 can handle both. The only issue I had with the 5000 was the difficulty reaching the oil drain nut through the small panel. And as far as the 11000, it surprises me it does not have an oil filter. I have not had to change the oil yet as I have not even run it through the break in period. I hope it is much more accessible due to the entire side panel being easily removed.

    All the features I wanted

I live in SE Michigan, and we loose power on a regular bases. Have an old 5000 watt gen. Wanted something bigger to run the whole house, clean A/C voltage, dual fuel option, electric start. My shoulder is not what it used to be. When I purchased gen. battery was not charged enough to start gen. But pull starting was still easier than my old one. Went thru break in period, then powered house. Happy so far. Now only need to put in a transfer switch, that will tie in my AC. Then really put a load on the gen. and see how she does. I know the wife will be happy to have AC when we loose power in the summer.

    Absolutely no problems.

I borrowed one of these from a friend to run my house after an ice storm. After the second day of use, I liked it so much I placed an order for myself. Absolutely outstanding performance. Ran my entire house (gas furnace and water heater) and was still able to run the electric dryer if need be. Great Product!

    Portable Quiet Standby Power

I needed to replace an Open Frame Generator. Purchased to primarily as a back-up power source. This is a large frame iGen and is very quiet considering the size. At 9K rated wattage, this is more than adequate to power my essential circuits during a power outage. Dedicated 50A outlet, selectable Dual fuel with parallel capability makes this unit the perfect Inverter Gen for my needs.

This generator has all the features I wanted

Bought this late last month and finally started it today after the inverter generator and all the cables arrived. Everything matched what I expected from the advertising. Two small annoyances were (1) a funnel that did not screw in correctly making it difficult to use and (2) an inconsistency in giving different names to the "start/stop" or "battery" switch. Cranked and ran fine today on propane.

    Runs Great!

I am now prepared for Hurricane season! This generator runs my whole house. I have a 4ton variable speed inverter Heat Pump that purrs like a kitten with this unit running no sweat. A 1/4 of the price of a fixed installed generator and will get what I need running in a power outage!

    Well Built Product

I purchased this inverter generator to replace my older unit. I wanted an inverter generator, since I have appliances and computers that would be protected better with cleaner power. I also wanted the option to power the entire home, and the 9K running watts will do that easily. The unit came packaged very well, and with easy to understand instructions. I also like the dual fuel feature, since getting gasoline isn't easy to get during a major power outage. I haven't fired it up now, haven't needed to, but will do so in the spring when the snow is gone.

    Starts right up

Generator started right up on the first try. Instructions could be a little more clear ... seems like a lot of buttons and displays on the generator ... and takes me a while to find everything in the user manual. Quite quiet. Like that I can use propane and not gasoline (which would just clog up the gears and needs additional maintenance every year like my snowblower does.)

    Better than I Expected

I liked some features I didn't expect: a drain hose for oil drain, a fuel drain hose for the carb float bowl, a threaded funnel for the oil fill, and a fuel spill ramp surrounding the gas cap. The generator was well packaged and easy to put into operation. Quieter than most comparable generators. I am still stumped by the remote start. But I'll figure it out.

    Powerful & Quiet

Great machine with excellent power. It's very quiet, which is something I was really interested in. Compares very well to most of the top end generators on the market today and considerably less expensive. Also love the fact that it is parrallel capable should the need arise in the future.
