iGen2550DFc Portable Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator

Initially I purchased a larger Inverter Generator (130+ lbs), but quickly realized that I would be better served by having 2 smaller, portable units for my RV usage (43 lbs). Reasonable noise level. Also very helpful for home usage during power outages. Quite versatile and convenient. Can be carried back on my property to run equipment away from the house.

Convenient generator for occasional boondocking!

Wanted a small generator that would be easy to lift in and out of pickup truck bed for a long road trip from Arizona through western Canada. This will supplement our solar/lithium battery system during our boondocking days/nights, and wanted dual fuel for flexibility. Already own 2 of Westinghouse's larger model, iGen4500DF. All are a great value compared to other brands!

Minnesota trials!

Very new to be having issues!

The inverter model I wanted for a fuel savings for smaller and more frequent use. I've only had it a little over 2 weeks and it's having trouble staying running until it warms up. It's July in the US (not cold) so this makes me concerned about using it in a Minnesota Winter (it will be well below freezing). I'm following all the rules so I'd expect to not have any issues so soon. It does dip gas when it's going and it uses a fraction of the fuel compared to my large Predator model. I'm not sure about the sound level but if that's the volume people talk even on eco mode, people have loud conversations. Are we talking about people having a conversation across a bar, in a stadium, sure quieter, in a coffee shop or same table in a family style restaurant, nope. In a Library no way! It is a lot quieter than my large generator and is tolerable that way though. The power output is stable and plenty for most things for me to run for longer spans of time in a cost effective way. During the break in period I've kept low, just a TV, fan, and charging phones and such. The real test will be after break in when I try power tools, and larger demanding situations.

More confident with coming seasons

Arrived in the last couple days. Going into the box the way the material is laid out with information naturally guides you to it's first use. First rate product thoughtfully mixed with it's information. I feel like I'm looking forward to the storm. So quiet you can talk over it.

Review for iGen2550DFc Generator

We recently purchased the iGen2550DFc to power our 17 ft travel trailer when camping without hookups, and so far it works exactly as advertised. We were specifically looking for a small, propane inverter generator capable of running the AC, and this unit delivered. It powered the air conditioner without any issues during our first use. We've only used it once so far, but we're happy with the performance and will update this review if anything changes with continued use. Great option for anyone looking for a compact and reliable dual-fuel generator.

New generator

Just bought after a power outage. Only needed it for about 6 hours but it ran my refrigerator and a pump that circulates the water in my koi pond just fine. Didn't even put much of a load on it. No issues so far. Can't speak on durability yet but it operates as stated so far. Going to see if it'll run my furnace next.

Compact, Easy to use, Quiet

Very good first impression of this dual fuel generator (Gasoline and Propane). Manual clear and understandable to prepare for operation and long term maintenance. Came with all the accessories such as Propane connection, engine oil, tools, funnel to add oil. Not too heavy so it can still be carried with one arm. Added oil and gasoline and it started up on first pull! Quiet operation and even more quiet in “eco mode”. Had it running for a while, therefore no long time experience as of yet. Did not run it with Propane as of yet neither. Checked it out with about 1600 VA load without reaching high RPM and not much noise increase. Although the free floating ground is no problem for the consumers (fridge, fan, lights, electronic device charger, hot plate), from a safety point I use it with a ground rod. This is going to be a backup in case of extended power failure.

Westinghouse investors are great.

This is my second Igen I have had a igen 4500 which has been trouble free and provided great storm relief and power for off grid trips. I upgraded my RV and wanted to have 50A power adding the igen 2550 was perfect can run both for 50A power or still use them individually with just a 50/30A reducer. Can't be happier with my Westinghouse products.

Easy to start and not as noisy as older one

I purchased this after a recent storm caused an extended power outage. We borrowed a gas generator that was very noisy but got us through the outage. This generator was much quieter and lighter than the previous generator. It was easy to start and the instructions were very clear for using either gasoline or propane. I powered several devices, including fans and a leaf blower and it worked just fine. I hope we don't have another extended power outage but if we do, we're now prepared.

Nice Backup

I bought this as an emergency backup and light boondocking for my travel trailer. It's got enough power to run the A/C and then some. Love that I don't have to carry around gas and in a pinch I can connect to a propane tank and be up and running. It's quiet enough and easy to use. Great unit.
