Perfect size for our needs.

Just picked this iGen2550c up today, filled it with oil and gas, and it started on the third pull. I ran for about an hour. About 20 min of that hour was with the fuel shut off to drain the carb! In the future when we store it, I'll probably just drain the carb into a clean container (such as a clean tin can) and dump the fuel back into the tank. We have a 6 circuit transfer switch that's been converted to 120v. This generator ran our natural gas boiler, fridge, chest freezer, and a few lights without a hiccup. This generator should be OK even if all the motors kick on simultaneously. I used a separate pass-through meter that displays volts, amps, and AC frequency to double-check readings. All the equipment listed above drew about 6 amps max (roughly 720 watts), with occasional spikes as motors kicked in. The AC was pretty steady at 59-60 hertz. Most importantly, the UPS power supply for our Internet connection didn't freak out and keep resetting like it would with our old generator. We'll try it with a small (4500 btu) air conditioner later. The A/C and boiler might be an either/or choice, but that's OK. Westinghouse did a lot of things right on this. Things I liked: - Easy pull start - about as much effort as a chainsaw. - Digital display and LED lighting to illuminate the panel - Lightweight. I can lift it with 2 fingers, and can carry it around like a heavy suitcase. - Easy access to oil drain (well - much easier than our previous generator, anyway) - Simple and obvious controls for starting, stopping. - Loved that it came with a parts breakdown booklet in case we ever need to find parts. - Nice that it included EXACTLY the amount of oil required. I marked the side of the bottle with a marker before I started filling. Now I have a ready-made measuring container that I can keep pre-filled in case we want to do a quick oil change during an extended power outage. - Liked that it included oil fill tube and other tools. Things I didn't like: - Side panels are easy to remove, but feel like the tabs might break in the near future. Learn to be careful with them - Carburetor drain with attached drain tube was nice, but the drain screw must have been tightened with an impact wrench. Almost stripped the screw trying to loosen it. Also, it would have better if you didn't have to remove one of the side panels to drain the carb. Maybe we'll cut a strategic hole in the side panel after the warranty runs out and re-route the drain hose so we don't have to pull the panel off. - A bit noisier than I had hoped for - but still not bad. Not Honda quiet, but not loud enough to disturb our neighbors. You can easily have a normal conversation next to it. Yes - 1 hour of runtime isn't much to form an opinion, but so far we're very happy with this solid little generator for the price.

Really nice Generator.

Bought this in June! Quiet and works great except shuts down after about 30-45 after first starting. After pushing the reset button it seems to work fine! I previously bought and still use my other Westinghouse gas inverter generator, which works fine!

Great Quality Generator

I bought this generator to replace an I2500 model and the additional features like 12v DC plug are great. Very quit and powerful generator. I also like the easier access to the motor for maintenance. I halos love the design more than the 2500 series.

Wont Start

I'm glad I don't need it right away. I put in gas. Put oil in up to the H on the dipstick.put about a 1/2 gallon of gas in. Turned it to Choke. Pulled 5 or 6 times...nothing. Hit the reset button. Pulled 4 or 5 more times...nothing. Operated the choke-run off switch and saw that it was adjusting the fuel. I opened the drain fuel line and watched it fill the tube. I called customer service who recommended I take it apart to make sure all connections are secure. There is one connector with a black and red wire that is hanging out there but I dont see anything to plug it into. I put it back to together, only lost 2 screws, and no change. I need help before a storm comes.

Filled with oil and gas and started right up

Unit appears sturdy and startup is easy. Don't know if run-time will suit my needs since I'll use it for hunt camp heater and it's spring right now but it is smooth running and quiet. It also has some nice features and sells for an excellent price point.

Off to a great start

I bought this unit to replace a very noisy older generator. I like that they provide a funnel with a hose, oil bottle and spark plug wrench. TIP: Mark the oil level on the bottle and save it for easy reference for future oil changes. I added the oil and fuel and turned the choke on for about two minutes. The unit started on the second pull. The generator is quiet when running on the economy setting and ramps up when under load. Still better than my old generator. I was torn between this one and the one made by H. This unit was cheaper and may run an air conditioner unit in an RV with a soft start kit.

Quiet, lightweight, works as advertised.

Bought this after our last prolonged power outage, since it cost less than twice the 3-day rental for the same size generator. Instructions were clear and setup was easy. I only tried it on propane, because that's how I intend to power it. It's a bonus that it has a 30 amp outlet for RVs in the event we ever need to use it with the trailer.

Better Than Expected

Bought this a replacement for a 20 year old 2000W gasoline inverter gen. Primary use is to run a fridge during power outages. Intend to run this exclusively on propane to avoid ongoing carb maintenance. Started right away following the instructions. Every bit as quiet as the old one and easier to handle. Halfway through the 5 hour break-in and very happy with the performance so far. Also very glad to be done storing gasoline during the FL storm season!

Best Dual Fuel Inverter Generator

The iGen2550DFC impresses at every thing it does. It arrives well equipped with everything needed to run on both gasoline and propane, including a basic maintenance tool kit, break-in oil, a slick screw-in funnel, propane regulator, a four foot propane hose, spark plug wrench, Philips screwdriver, quick start guide, and a comprehensive user manual. Following the Quick Start Guide results in effortless starting. The iGen2550DFc idles very quietly, very smoothly. With a full 1700 to 1800 watt load it proves itself one of the quietest generators in its class. I use it supplement the solar system, even replace it, on my fifth wheel RV. I Love this generator. My only disappoint was the lack of an LED display including an hour meter as described in the seller's advertisement and the Westinghouse User Manual. I highly reccomend this generator. I'll update this review after I purchase another iGen2550DFc generator- soon, I hope.

Runs the A/C in the RV!

I wanted a lightweight solution to run my RV AC, and after extensive generator research I decided to install a Micro Air 364 soft starter for my 15,000 BTU RV AC. I purchased the iGen2500 due to other reviews as well as a recommendation from Micro Air. I received the generator, filled the oil and gas and it fired right up after 2 pulls. I then decided to put it to the test with the RV AC system. Plugged the RV into the generator and the A?C fired right up. I ran it for an hour or so and the generator performed awesome. So, if you are looking for a small lightweight generator to run your 15k BTU AC, go get the soft starter 364 and the Westinghouse iGen2500.
