So far so good

Just received my WGen14500TFc yesterday and put it all together. Added oil and hooked up propane to start the break in before hooking it up to house. It started in about 3-4 tries. I did run a couple shop lights and a fan on it and it did fine. Can't get the key fob to work at all tried several times. Also came with a scratch on the right-side valve cover that has the yellow oil fill screw cap on it not happy about that. Also, pretty disappointed that I can't order oil filters, air filters for it which are out of stock. Wish there was a part number I could get at my local parts store. I live 25 miles out in the country and like to have oil and air filters spark plugs on hand when I need them. I am giving 3.5 stars for now and will update this review once it gets the 5 hours break in and hooked to my house for final test run.

Great features!

I just received this unit yesterday. I really like the design and features. Will be finishing assembly today and give it a test run. My purchase is the perfect size for my need and portability. Being tri fuel is an advantage since I have all of them available. I'm like a kid in a candy jar today. Getting to assemble a new tool to my arsenal.

Great so far haven't used it other than break in

We have not used this yet. We had an ice storm in January & our old Generator is to small for our new location. We upgraded to WGen14500 TFC and are planning on using Gasoline. Our electrician added a switch and a plug to the new home and we are ready to go for the next power outage. We hope this will last as long as our old 4000 watt Generac that is still running and works great. We had Natural gas at our old home and now we are all electric so we needed to get a larger generator. It was on a pallet when it was Delivered by FedEx and it took us borrowing our neighbors to small floor jack and some extra wood to get it out of the wood packing and the extra pallet. If you are buying this please be aware of the unpacking if you don't have access to floor jacks or a hoist. My husband put the tires on last once they got the wood out from under the generator because they were in the way. Once the generator was clear of all packing wood and on the supports of the wood we had he then added the tires and they slowly lowered the generator to the floor. I was worried I would not be able to move it but I had no issues at all I am 5'2 with the 2 handles and wheels. I should have taken pictures it was well packed. My husband has run it for 5 hours under little to no load per the instructions. For break in. Now we can move it outside and flip a few breaker and we are up and running the heat if needed.

Highly Recommended

Just purchased and haven't had to use it yet. We live on the Gulf Coast and wanted to be prepared. We had several professionals (plumbers and electricians) recommend Westinghouse. Fingers crossed that we won't need it, but we are ready when we do!

Powerful generator

Took a few tries to get the generator to start on NG, so I started it first on propane then switched back to NG. It ran like it should. It powered my house as estimated.

Will not start

Just took the unit out of the box and it won't start. Fully charged the battery with the trickle charger. Engine still won't turn over. Plus, it has no manual start option, so I'm dead in the water. Hope this storm doesn't cause the power to go out.

Very cool machine with the latest technology.

I bought this instead of a standby generator. It has the same power but is much more affordable. I also bought it because it's Westinghouse and is very highly rated. I live in the country so my biggest concern was our water well. I had a smaller generator and it worked hard to run the well, this one runs it with not effort. So far I love my new generator!

WGEN12000DF

I said in another review how much I enjoyed this great generator running on gas but it wouldn't run on propane. I said I would update that review when the issue was resolved. It was and I am happy to say that this great generator runs GREAT on propane! It took a little of this and that but basically Lowes exchanged my first one with a second one and I couldn't be happier. I have to add that Westinghouse was going to exchange it out also but since I bought it from Lowes it was better this way. Thank you Lowes And Westinghouse for your superior customer service! My home is now more than ready with quality backup power.

WGen14500TFc is a Beast

I bought this generator a week ago with plans to setup powering our 3000sq ft home as a whole house generator. It didn't disappoint! After several weeks of research and seeking references from those that own portable whole house generators I landed on the Westinghouse Tri Fuel 14500. I liked its flexibility of fuel sources and the setup plans I had included running off our home's natural gas meter through a quick disconnect setup. This generator comes with both a natural gas hose and a hose with regulator for using LP gas. When the generator arrived my electrician was here installing an interlock switch in my home power distribution panel and 50amp weather rated receptacle outside. I quickly assembled the wheels and rubber feet on the generator and rolled it off the pallet. I had installed the quick connect to the gas meter that morning so everything was ready to go. Before starting the generator I followed the generator manual instructions, added oil, which it comes with, and connected the battery. Next was pairing the key fob . Once I had everything ready I connected it to the natural gas fuel source and started the generator. The generator started up with no issues. As the manual instructions confirmed the generator needed to be run for 5 hours under a light load to allow for break in of critical parts before handling heavy electrical loads. The break in time completed the day. The following day I conducted a power outage simulation. I hooked up the generator to the house through the 50amp locking receptacle with 50amp 25' power cord. Fired up the generator and flipped the main breaker off on the home power distribution panel. This allowed me to slide the interlock device so I could flip on the 50 amp generator power breaker. I had also flipped off the 50,49 and 30 amp breakers. This was done to avoid placing too heavy of a load on the generator. The generator powered all of the 115 volt outlets and lights in the house with no problems. Next up was to test the generator powering our 5 ton AC with the lights and receptacles on. I flipped on the AC 50amp breaker and turned down the thermostat. The AC started and you could hear the generator grunt once and drop in running tone but know issues! The generator powered everything including the 5 ton AC unit at the same time! What a beast! Keep in mind, I did install a hard start kit on the AC before performing this test to lower the start up amp requirements from the AC compressor. I don't think the generator would have powered the 5 ton AC without this modification.
