Major buyer remorse with this product

I bought this to replace the bissell proheat that finally died on me thinking "hey, it's made for a pet home", this was the worst decision I made. I regret not just replacing my original model with another of the same. With this machine, you are refilling clean water so much more often, which is bad because when you use to gallons of clean/soap water, you are only dumping out about a third of that amount...that's alot of water left on carpet which means it takes so much longer to dry. The clean shot button just basically squirts (like a water gun) solution onto floor which guess what? you guessed it, leaves that more water it's not going to pick up on the carpet. The machine came with a trial of cleaning solution that didn't do the job at all. Just having puppy accidents (urine) to clean up from 1 room, I ended up having to go over the carpet THREE times only to still have the smell present and a very wet carpet as a reward for the effort, and yes, I went over and over the floor trying to pull out as much water as possible, no luck there. The attachments are not carried on the machine, so let me stop and go fetch them and dig through a bag to hopefully find something helpful, no luck there either...the attachments are cheap feeling and do nothing useful. I am very disappointed in this machine, so much so that when I replace this one in the near future I am considering switching brands altogether. After paying premium price for a sub-par piece of equipment, I can safely say that after using Bissell for 20 years, they really let me down. Since the horrible equipment has been used and of course I no longer have original container, I am stuck with this unit. BISSELL, SHAME ON YOU!

Mixed results

I usually like Bissell products, but this one was a mixed bag for me. It sprays well, the brushes turn well, and I can see the pet hair that my vacuum has missed, but after using this machine I am left with very wet carpet. Not so wet that it's spongy, but it takes 2 days for the carpet to dry. Also, it seems that the cleaner leaves behind an odor. Since I am extremely sensitive to odors I find this unpleasant, even if it's supposed to smell "clean". I have to place towels on the carpet to soak up residual moisture in order for it to be dry in 12 hours (and I live in Colorado, where ambient humidity hardly ever reaches 10%), and then lift them after a couple of hours to allow air drying. It seems the suction could definitely be better. Or maybe there is a trick to usage that I have missed? It has been consistent from the first use that this is my experience, and I regularly have to clean out the nozzle (about 3x per full clean tank) in order to maintain the suction that I do get. If there is a way to improve the suction on this machine, I'd sure love to know what it is.

Thank you for the feedback! Your carpets definitely should not take 2 days to dry - it's possible the front nozzle is misaligned or possibly the hose door is open. This quick video should help! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkhGywcub8M

Quick and easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this to clean our home carpets and throw rugs. We have three dogs with heavy traffic use. I found the carpet cleaner easy to assemble once it arrived. Easy to clean carpets, the best part is when you're done cleaning it completely comes apart and you're able to get all of that dirt and dog hair out of the machine and have it ready for the next use. Easy to assemble. Easy to disassemble.

Wish I'd bought years earlier!

I have always used a professional carpet cleaner when i was getting a rental property ready to rent. Since I was never really that satisfied with the results, I decided to invest in my own carpet cleaner and it was well worth the investment. I've cleaned two bedrooms so far and they look amazing. The real test will come when I clean the main living room which was the dirtiest but I am expecting good results I'll report back if I have problems.. I especially like the instructional videos that I can access online!

If you Have Pets, This is a Must!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh my goodness- if you have pets, you must invest in this! It does use quite a bit of water, BUT I'm telling you it is worth it. My house looks (and smells) so clean after using! Looking forward to deep cleaning the house we are moving in to soon!

Disappointed

Never worked from day 1.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It wouldn't pick up the water. Basically ruined my carpet. 3 months after I bought it the shampooer started making a loud noise, started smoking and then everything just stopped working. Very upset and disappointed. May have to replace our carpet now

Floor Nozzle

I have 2 dogs, no matter how much I vacuum, when I clean my carpet the nozzle gets clogged with pet hair. I don't understand why it is not removable for cleaning? Only thing I don't like. Design flaw I would have the design department look at and change, would make cleaning eaiser

Best carpet cleaner ever

This machine is a marvel. Our dog is older, deaf and blind and slowly having accidents. My carpets are always clean with no telltale evidence of doggie oops'. I was going to replace carpets, but after using this machine for a few months, while they are not new, they are sure not having to be replaced. Thank you Bissell.

A- grade! We gave it a workout!

It took me four uses before I thought it would be fair to write this review. The Pros for me are the long cord, easy to use/clean, size of the machine, and powerful suction for a deep clean and to reduce drying time. The first time, I tried the express setting, used the hottest tap water and measured the cleaning solution properly and did not achieve the expected results. I could hardly tell if it accomplished anything. We have a few heavy-traffic areas and frequent spills so I knew there would soon be another chance to try it out. The second time, I used the heavy clean setting and added a little more than the recommended amount of cleaning solution. I was happier with this result but thought I might still have to occasionally hire a professional. The third trial was disappointing but I feel it may be unfair as a test compared to normal home use. Our special needs daughter is six and was very quick to spill pancake syrup on a bedroom floor with off-white carpet. The ease of getting out and turning on the machine made it a fast response but the syrup was very difficult to suck up. After several passes, there still remains a gray area where the stain is. I will have to try a harder chemical cleaner and deeper-reaching tool to remove it from the fibers. The fourth trial was what I was hoping for! After putting it off, I decided to give it one more run. I used double the solution and used the deep clean setting. It took about an hour and a half and three tanks of water to cover three rooms and a hallway of carpet. I passed over heavy traffic areas 2-3 times and used the spot sprayer when necessary. I was careful to pass over with the suction a few times, especially in heavily treated areas and was very happy with the results! I am extremely pleased that it dries quickly. This extensive trial was completely dry within a few hours.

After two uses having problems

Bought this to clean urine from one berber carpet and one nylon just a few weeks ago. I used it the weekend after it arrived. Did a nice job on the nylon carpet. The berber ...left an aweful smell - musty and mildewy. I read FAQ's and said that the carpet may need more than one cleaning if that smell happens as the first loosened up the dirt. I redid the carpet two more times with no luck. I have had to remove that carpet and I have it outside hoping the rain we are getting and some intense natural sunlight will kill the odor. If not, I will need to buy a new carpet and I would like to charge Bissell for it. I also find it goes through a ton of water. I got maybe only two 10 feet passes and had to refill the tank - and solution. That solution is pretty expensive to go through that much for one cleaning. Then by the third cleaning, the suction got super slow. I never did see the brushes rolling even from the first time. I was thinking they were going so fast it just looked that way and with the water flushing through it is hard to tell but now I am sure the brushes don't roll. I looked at videos this morning and will check all their suggestions when I have time (although I already did a thorough cleaning of it) and see if that helps but man am I tired of buying products that lead you to have to give up more time (I work several jobs and time is a premium) to fix them, like checking out this website for problem solving and then pulling apart the darn thing to actually try to fix it. I wish I could charge these companies for the time i have to give up to take care of these kinds of things. Products should not have problems right out of the box.
