I had a similar machine years ago that I sold due to moving abroad. I now bought this to tackle my sofa and large area rug again. I have two dogs and we need a machine like this. I was pleased with the job it did on my area rug but the upholstery took a lot of elbow grease because neither of the hand tools have a moving brush (which my old one had). Furthermore, the special pet hand tool with an included dry vacuum is useless. I vacuum before shampooing anyways and my regular vacuum is much better than the one on the hand tool. I also don't get the spot clean squirt function because all it does is spray some of the normal water/solution one is already using and it does so in a very weak manner: pointless. I do like how well one can clean the machine as a lot of it comes apart, that was definitely a great improvement compared to my previous machine. I only found the dirty water container difficult to clean, the rest was very easy. This machine is decent but some of the extras are not worthwhile at all.

I owned an earlier version of the Bissel ProHeat carpet cleaner, which performed well for a couple of years, then I had to take it to a dealer for service since it stopped working. After another year it stopped working again. I discovered that the problem was the heat exchanger (heats the water) was clogging up with calcium deposits from 'hard water', similar to a clothes iron. This heat exchanger cannot be cleaned/serviced by the consumer, only the dealer can do this (the unit must be taken apart to do this!). In my opinion this is a poor design. If you used distilled water in the unit this would not happen, but that is impractical. Why not have the heat exchanger easily accessible and serviceable? All other parts of the unit performed well.

Bought this as a pet cleaner. I have a husky who will pee on my carpet almost everyday. Extremely frustrating when you buy something so expensive and it doesn't work. I have used it multiple times and you can still see the stains. Pictures provided. Do not waste your money like I did. Paying over time and so upset I feel like I'm throwing money away. As a new stay at home mom I needed something that would be time efficient and easy to clean. It's the opposite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a washable rug, but not even multiple washes in the washing machine can get rid of the dirt and grime that builds up on my dog's favorite place to lay. I about cried because I thought my expensive rug was ruined. Then I went and got this Bissell and it SAVED MY RUG. Worth every penny! We used the whole bottle of disinfectant that came with the purchase and it took a few times, but the rug looks like I just bought it.

Only the power cord is to short had to use an extension cord and my roller cover doesn't seem to come off to clean. Had to use the stick to get the hair out. That was disappointing. Other than those 2 things worked great.

We have had another carpet cleaner machine for years that leaked all the time. It was heavy and bulky and I hated pulling it out. This one is so easy to put together and use. We have a lot of pets and really need a machine that can be used on a daily basis if needed. I love how easy it is to use and it really cleans!

We've had this a few months and I've used it a half dozen times. I use it to get up stains and also for general cleaning to address pet hair at my home and pet odors at a relatives home. It is not hard to transport back and forth. I've been pleased with the job it does! Its not hard to use and get its up so much pet hair! Its great.

This unit does an exceptional job of cleaning and I totally appreciate the changes in my ability to quickly clean the Bissell! my old machine was difficult to get the pet hair out of various parts of the cleaner and to get debris out of the brush bar shield. Now all the parts pop off quickly so you can carry them to the sink rinse them out and get back to cleaning.i even clean them out several times during the cleaning process. It is also lightweight and easy to use. Attachments are very simple to use and clean very well. I love this machine!

Our brand new machine leaked by the seams of the clean water tank. As well, it created more stains on the carpets because the dirty water leaked back onto the carpet. The plastic seemed very cheap. Used once because it made a mess of our carpets. We returned it.
