- 5 out of 5 stars review12/3/2020Just because the machine isn't perfect, doesn't mean it doesn't make perfect ice. It is 5 stars in my book, and it is the best on the market. Although I may be nitpicking, there are a few improvements that keep it from achieving perfection. CONS: 1. It is a high maintenance machine. The manual suggests that you clean it once per week. Nobody really has time for that. It is more of a tedious process than strenuous one, since the machine has a (somewhat) automatic clean cycle. However, this requires a great deal of clean water to rinse and seems wasteful. 2. The machine is a bit bulky, and for the most part, lacks feet on the bottom. The feet exist, it just would have made cord management easier if they were a bit taller. 3. It ca...

It's ability to replenish enough ice is incredible! I would buy it again for sure. If there were any negatives I would say this: 1. When the room is quite the sound is very noticeable. Not annoying but noticeable. 2. Cleaning - It is not hard to clean but it is very time consuming.

The ice maker worked for 6 days before it broke and no longer created ice. We tried all recommended fixes and the machine was deemed ineffective. Super frustrating for the price and excitement around the product.

Yes the ice marker is a little bigger and pricey then others but it’s worth it!! Makes great ice. It does stick together if you put it directly i. The freezer ice bucket. If you put it in a gallon ziplock bag it keeps well. Highly recommend!!

Pumps fail because haier uses cheap pumps. The fans will go as well and it will stop producing ice. If you get a year you are lucky. Buy an extended warranty because you will need it.

The first leaked all over the counter. We thought we were filling it wrong - turned out to be a "known issue," and GE replaced it. Machine number two also makes fantastic ice, but it sounds like an 80-year-old standing up. It creaks, groans, squeaks and wheezes. If you're going to have this prominently placed on a bar or open kitchen, know that it's definitely a quiet machine. All that said - the ice is so good we bought an Opal for the in-laws. Theirs makes a grinding noise and was also replaced.

It is pretty loud when making ice (louder than any other appliance in the kitchen). The scheduling function on the app does not work at all. Not the end of the world but you expect those features to work as advertised. Will not buy other “smart” ge appliances as I assume this is a common failure.

Size and capacity work for our family of 4… installed on a mobile cart and with the side tank it easily produces enough ice for our needs. It’s quiet during normal ice making cycles. Installation is easy … looking forward to buying another for my daughter and her apartment

Definitely get it with the water attachment on the side which helps with the continuous refilling. My one negative is the noise when it’s flushing through water to create the ice. Aside from that, it does make ice quickly and it’s the perfect addition for any cocktails or iced coffees.

I use strictly distilled water in mine and love the clarity and taste of the resulting ice. The side tank gives you extra capacity but is difficult to refill unless you have a sink nearby to drain the base receptacle into before inserting the tank otherwise you are going to have a spill.

Crystals DadOriginally posted ongeappliances.com - 4 out of 5 stars review4/6/2021we just bought this item last week, so far so good. it is a great addition to a modern home fits on the counter under kitchen cabinet. not noisy, make great quality ice, ice is available constantly for the entire family, not enough ice for a party, you still have to buy ice from the store to cool beverages in a large cooler, or to show case cold wine buckets. it does look amazing and is very user friendly, no drips and no mess. thank you for a great design. this is a great compromise if your refrigerator ice maker keeps breaking or does not make enough ice.

It's taking up less counter space than the first module and I like the look of the Smart HQ app for the Opal 2. Not sure if it's me but it seems to keep ice longer when its not in Making Ice Mode. Also like that the clean function is on the front and not the back.

We were quite surprised to see ice being made just 10 minutes after the last clean cycle. I had a concern about the noise but although it does produce sound; it is only discernable in the early morning hours before my kids wake up. We don't notice the machine running during the day. I love the fact that it stops making ice once the bin is full and also that you can set a schedule to make ice. We wake up to a full bin of ice and come home from work and school to an ice full. The 3lb capacity has been plenty although we did save a couple of gallon-sized bags in the freezer if we ever needed any more. We have found that the machine takes a little more than 3 hours to fil...

They are super difficult to clean. They either stopped working within a year or the internal plastics broke. The last one we had was so dirty we used bleach/water and it corroded the chrome plated parts that touch the water to make ice. In other words, we've spent almost as much in total as the price of the GE Profile Opal! #2 - although the standard ice makers make ...
