- 5 out of 5 stars review3/12/2023Very excited to have this ice maker. I'm using only distilled water which will hopefully limit the amount of required maintenance. I had zero issues setting it up and running it through its initial cleaning cycles. It has worked flawlessly, including its schedule which I sent with the app.

I was a little hesitant to buy after reading negative reviews about reliability, noisy operation, connectivity, etc, but so far we’ve had none of those issues. We’ve just nothing but distilled water and there has been little or no scale buildup. One gallon of water will last the two of us about 6-7 days, and we use it every day. We love the chewable ice and having good clear ice for our drinks. Haven’t used our refrigerator ice maker since getting this set up.

Make sure the wall you put the unit by isn't against and office or bedroom; this is an ice maker, so it does have a hum and some vibration. It’s not horrible but not whisper quiet either. Go through the first cleaning before you get the unit settled and make sure you write down the info on the back before you settle the appliance into its final position. (Wi-Fi password, Model number, serial number) The drain hose on the unit should be longer, it will not reach the edge of the counter for a bucket from front to back. The manual could use a little more effort, especially the section on setting up the application and Wi-Fi. If you were smart and bought Opal...

We have a lot of family gatherings and it sure is nice not to run out of ice and send someone out to buy bags of ice. It operates very good and although a little pricey it’s worth spending the money for the convenience of plenty of ice.

Surprisingly it keeps up with him and I each day. I fill the side tank (this is very needed unless you plan on hardline connection) each morning and dont have to worry about it until the next day. And in my insulated metal ups the ice lasts overnight !!

I've unplugged it and replug it and sometimes it started working for a few days then need water light comes back on. It defective and you won't do anything about it. For what I paid for this it should have lasted longer than this. I won't buy another GE product again.

By chance I happened across this gem.... It does take a bit more counter space than we'd like, but the ice and speed of production is excellent. (we use distilled water only, so no matter the beverage its's the only thing talking to your taste buds.) Would highly recommend.

I love that I can use my phone app for it and set it for a schedule. It starts at 6am and stops at 6pm for my everyday use! Fits nicely on my counter and looks nice! It does make some noise while making ice which is expected but it’s not too loud. If I have the tv on I don’t even notice it. The extra water reservoir is nice so I don’t have to be constantly refill it. I would definitely recommend. While it is expensive I feel it’s worth it and would definitely buy again!

I am a chemical engineer and the instructions are difficult to follow, don't tell you that water will drip through the ice, it is necessary to prime the pump etc. They don't tell you its not made to keep on all the time. Needs to be cleaned out frequently. Called support 3 times and the hold times are over 45 minutes. The support people are real nice and helpful.

Took off the side reservoir to save counter space. Side tank had a tendency to leak or drip water while refilling. It’s just too easy to refill the main reservoir. Over all, I’d still purchase this unit. Hoping it lasts!

Hooked to wi-fi , one can see what the machine is doing at that moment or you can run diagnostics if needed. This machine makes virtually no noise while on and producing ice. It is an attractive appliance on my kitchen counter.

In fact, I’ve worn 2 out over the last couple years. Although cheap , they just did not last and the ice was just OK. The ice is actually pellets about 1/2” long and 1/4” in diameter. It is soft enough to chew and hard enough not to water down your drinks. One other great option in this ice maker is the self cleaning option. So long as I use it weekly as recommended, I’ve not seen mold take hold the way it did in the other style ice makers.I used the Bluetooth app and set up a run schedule to make life even easier for us. It is not easy cleaning the side tank. There is no way to brush out the whole inside of the tank. I am very scared of getting mold like many other people so I am cleaning it once a week and only using distilled water and so far I have had no issues. I also wish there was an easy way to see the inside of the machine just to make sure there was nothing growing in there.

I completed it on my own and I don't consider myself abnormally strong. I am 48 and had it up and running in under 2 hours. That's running extra cleaning cycle and reading through the manual.
