- 1 out of 5 stars review5/3/2024The ice maker ran for about two months. It then started to make squeaking noises. We cleaned it. We defrosted it. Nothing seemed to work. Finally it we into defrost mode and would not produce ice, no matter what we did. By the way, we never used tap water. We use distilled water.

I love to eat ice and I love nugget ice. I can 100% say that I wish I had bought this ice maker sooner. The ice maker is very quick to make ice and it was very easy to set up. The ice is perfect!

Have been filling the tank using filtered water from a refrigerator pitcher to hopefully minimize build-up. Ice is soft, crunchy and tastes great. Not noisy at all in my opinion. There is a very low hum but that's it other than when the ice drops. The app makes it very convenient. Runs every day from 9am-9pm without fail. Emptying and cleaning is annoying to have to do but it's a necessary evil and is relatively easy to do. Expensive but the wife loves it.

It says it’s defrosting but it just quit so I bought a second and 3 days later it’s squealing as well. Love the ice it makes but hate the machine and being woke up at night.

Makes plenty of ice for us every day, and love that it’s easy to clean. It does take up a bit of counter space, but it’s so worth it. The nugget ice is perfect, and just like that popular fast food chain ice!

I recently bought a water dispenser and need an ice machine, so I didn't have to keep buying bags of ice. I believe GE OPAL is the perfect tabletop ice machine on the market. The size of the ice is ideal for any drink. Today, I used the ice for my ice pack. The ice is more petite than ready ice, so the ice pack was not hard, and it conformed around my ankle. When I bought the ice maker about a month ago, I had significant buyer's remorse. However, that has changed. I am so happy with the ice maker. It is the perfect addition to my water bar.

I sent it in to GE to repair and 8 weeks later I received a referbished one that made loud noise. This one only worked for 4 weeks and the warranty is expired now. Not a happy customer!

Our little make has produced ice like a champ. My only complaint, if you can call it one, is it was awkward under kitchen cabinet. Our solution was to move it to wet bar.

It’s fabulous! The only thing I did not expect was the noise. The motor is loud and I had to press the back panel to muffle the vibrating noise. Just having this ice maker at my disposal has made every difference in wanting to drink water. Love having our neighbors wanting to have their kids come over to swim at our pool cause we have “the good ice”. Machine is a little loud when it’s making ice, but nothing terrible. Setup was slightly tricky and time consuming but ok….totally worth it!

We use it every day, multiple times a day - and it works absolutely perfectly. The ice is delicious, I keep hydrated, and my dog no longer chokes on huge ice cubes. It’s a win all around! Highly recommend if you enjoy perfect ice that crunches, but is also like crunching on a soft cloud! Don’t hesitate If you are on the fence - I did for too long and wish i bought it sooner.

I bought the prototype before they were on the market and replaced it with a newer 2.0. That one started having a small leak I can’t pinpoint so I had to replace it. Trying to get repairs on these is pointless. It will cost as much to fix it as buying a new one because you have to send them in to GE. You have to ensure you stay on top of the cleaning but other than that they are great.

We based our decision on multiple reviews across many sites online. We wanted pure nugget ice not hollow bullet ice. And this machine is worth the investment. Our refrigerator's ice machine freezes over and is therefore unreliable. So this was just the thing we needed. Set up was a bit confusing, but we figured it out. And it can get quite noisy. So those are the only two "cons" to this machine.

It was very temperamental and I had to try a few times before I could actually get it to turn on or off. Contacted customer support, they sent a new right out. I love the soft crunchable ice. I was afraid that it would melt quickly but it does not. I also love being able to program the start and stop time. All I have to remember to do is give it water. This is a pricey machine but in my opinion, it is worth it.

With this ice maker it’s not a problem. It’s also nice that it’s portable so that it can be moved around for parties and events. It works fast and quiet and looks great on the counter. The ice is perfect size & texture.
