The only thing that baffles me is why you would have to pay extra to add the side tank on when it should be standard because even with the side tank we’re constantly having to refill. Maybe we just drink a lot (just two of us).

One day it went in to defrost and wouldn't cycle back on . Followed troubleshooting steps but had no luck. Still waiting for Onpoint to reply back for warranty claim. I've only had it 8 months on 12 month warranty. It's going to be very disappointing if they don't repair or replace.

BUT if you are an “ice snob” then it’s a MUST HAVE! This makes perfect “sonic style” ice all the time, every time! It keep the ice frozen then starts making more when it melts. The added side water tank makes it super-easy and convenient to keep water at the ready! It does make some noise so don’t plan on using it in a quiet room or where you relax. We run purified water in it so that seems to really help in keeping the cleaning cycles to a minimum and the ice tasting clear and fresh all the time. Our family uses flavored water bottles like Cirkul and Infuze Hydration. This machine is perfect for people and families that heavily use water bottles.

I finally gave up on replacing them and went without an ice maker for 2 years. I decided to try the Opal and I'm glad that I did. The ice it makes is great and it doesn't take that long for the bin to fill up. While the it's making ice, the compressor can be heard, but I've found that the noise fades to the background unless I specifically listen for it. I'm very happy with it.
It's great to have ice again.

I have owned two Newair ice makers and both died within 2 to 3 months. The GE opal 2.0 costs a little more but what features it offers is worth it. I love the appliance’s features such as the water reservoir LED lighting, Wi-Fi ability and function accent lighting…providing a little statement of premium presence. The best feature is the small soft crunch ice. A MUST have.

Unfortunately, I’ve had four (yes, FOUR) of these machines crap out on me within a couple of years. The last three have stopped making ice and displayed the “add water” message, even when full of water. Yes, I tried futzing with it 100 times, turned on clean mode, stuck my finger on the intake to prime the pump, drained it, refilled it … in all cases, this worked for a couple weeks but eventually it stopped making ice completely. So disappointing, because having this ice around makes everything better. Please work out the bugs and give me a machine that lasts more than a few months.

It makes ice very quickly and we really like the size. It is a little louder than I would have liked but it is tolerable. It is a little heavier than I expected which makes it harder to clean, I don’t have a place near the sink.

Cleaning it was a bit of a pain because it is heavy and I have to move it across the kitchen. I would definitely recommend it to others.

W... - 3 out of 5 stars review6/9/2023The picture shows it having ice full to the brim but it actually doesn't keep the ice cold enough to not melt so the bottom melts out as the top condignly refills. what happens because the ice melts is it creates more of a ramp of ice running from the bottom of the where you see it to the spout at the top back where the ice comes out and then it stops making ice because the ice ramp is blocking the spout even thought the bucket isn't full. Even if you pull the bin out and shake it often I can never get the bucket to completely fill up like they have shown.

It is so quiet when it is operating and has a soft light that illuminates the kitchen at night. One of my favorite aspects of the machine is that the ice is always fresh and you do not have to worry about the ice taking on smells from the food in your refrigerator such as onions. One of my favorite appliances in my kitchen.

This runs like a champ and if you are a sonic ice lover this is a must have! I will say the original one I had was quieter so plan for that is placing it. All in all though many features are improved. Holds less water so filling up every 2 days can be a pain. I say buy it though, you will not regret it!
