- 4 out of 5 stars review2/13/2021This was the perfect gift for my wife, who spends time and money constantly going to Sonic and chik-fil-a just to get a cup of ice. So far so good, only complaint is the SmartHQ app will not let me set up a schedule. Keeps saying "something went wrong ".

It barely takes up any counter space, is quiet and quite speedy at making ice! After the sticker shock it has been my best purchase to date, I love it!

We got this and she couldn't be happier always having the nugget ice to to chew while she enjoys her lemonade.

This ice maker is AWESOME. Setup is easy. It's quick, and holds its own when company comes. Someone accidentally turned it off and the bin was nearly empty, but it quickly caught up and there was enough ice for everyone. The ice it makes doesn't melt super quick and is great in all types of drinks. My daughter loves it in her water, I make cocktails with it, and we also use it in iced coffee. Some reviews say that it's loud, and although you can hear it while it's making ice, it's not obnoxious. Much quieter than most kitchen appliances. Aside from the main sound from the condenser, the other sound I think others are complaining ...
The ONLY Ice Maker Needed

They failed to glue the two halves together. Contacted support who told me I needed to return the entire product which is silly when only the external tank was a problem. Otherwise the ice maker works well. Our last opal only lasted 2.5 years so we will see how long this one last.

The amount of ice it produces is great, and love the side tank with it. My only flaw and reason for 4 stars is the weekly descaling notification that we get, and having to clean it have it sit for 18 plus hours. Other than that it’s an excellent ice machine.

This ice machine exceeded all of my expectations. It was packaged very well so I had no concerns of damage in shipping. It was very easy to set up and the instructions were clear and easy to understand. I use it constantly and my guests love it as well. I use distilled water to avoid having to descale it because we have very hard water. The cleaning process is easy. I recommend setting it up close to the sink as this machine is heavy to move & it has to be near the sink when going through the cleaning cycle. The first unit had a large screeching/grinding sounds (1.5 weeks after install) when the unit would first begin to make ice. I have to refill the side water holder at least once a day. The nuggets are all soft, perfectly formed little gems that she loves. If you like to chew on ice, consider the Opal to really enjoy nibbling on these soft nuggets.

The side tank is a great time saver as I don’t have to constantly check water level to make sure I have enough for ice. A side tank when filled lasts 4-5 days and sometimes longer if I don’t use as much ice. Big plus is the modern look. Mine is black and a great compliment to my black kitchen appliances.

The fast food restaurant chain with the "good ice" should be buying it from me. I use filtered water from my refrigerator because that's what I'm used to drinking, but my sister has the same machine and she uses tap water. We both get soft, perfect, small barrels of the best ice ever. It's so soft that I'm told that crunching is much less obnoxious than it was before.
