- 5 out of 5 stars review6/9/2022Haven’t drank this much water in my entire life! Just having this ice maker at my disposal has made every difference in wanting to drink water. Love having our neighbors wanting to have their kids come over to swim at our pool cause we have “the good ice”. Machine is a little loud when it’s making ice, but nothing terrible. Setup was slightly tricky and time consuming but ok….totally worth it!

They've all been disappointing as they had sporadic problem and eventually failed. Luckily, we had the extended warranty and they were replaced or our $$ was refunded. THIS GE however, has been a pleasant surprise! It makes ice at a pretty good pace, it's quiet and the side tank is a GREAT feature! You can easily see when it needs water and it's a snap to add! Once in a while it does "squeal" for a minute when it's drawing water from the tak, but that's very brief. Overall, this has been a great machine so far and I'd definitely buy it again!

You won't run out of ice ever! The ice is smaller than the "good ice" but it is still like it. I have this machine on day and night (my daughter loves to eat ice). I like to have gatherings and it is perfect when making drinks. You have the option to purchase a filter for it. If you do, make sure that the filter is on correctly or the machine will not make ice. You will have to fidget with the filter until it starts to make the ice. There are also times when I refill the water tank and the "add water" lights up. I just open and close the ice drawer and it starts to make ice. It does make noise but it's not unbearable. I will definitely purch...
Never Run Out of Ice!

And not having to go out to a restaurant to get some and stock up is very nice. Having it at our beck and call when we want ice we have it. Very nice addition to the kitchen and everyday routine. I have had to clean it a few times already after only having it just over a month. But I assume that is due to the water that we are using verses any actual fault of the ice maker. It is worth the money if your family is always wanting cool drinks or bags of ice for sore muscles

Other reviews mentioned it being noisy, but our unit is very quiet...similar to the noise our refrigerator makes. Once the set up was complete, ice was made very quickly and it was exactly as advertised. The unit is larger than expected and does not fit under our upper cabinets.
So happy with this choice!

I read a lot of the reviews & most complained that it's loud, but honestly, unless you sleep in the kitchen, I don't see why it's a problem. If you are on the fence about buying one, just DO IT you won't be disappointed. We'll worth every penny.

The first week we had the ice maker, it kept “defrosting” constantly. I followed the instructions for cleaning out the machine by using vinegar water, running the cleaning cycle, then sticking a towel in the machine for 24 hours. It cleaned everything out, however my guess that the jamming was due to our hard water was correct. We used distilled water and have had zero problems in the several months since. As a matter of fact, the machine has not “defrosted” a single time since switching to distilled water. The ice separates easily as well (with our hard water, the ice cubes would stick tog...

Our old ice machine was a IKICH (Amazon's choice). This is significant upgrade from that or any other countertop ice maker I've seen -- it looks like a real kitchen appliance. Built solid, nice finish. Makes great ice quickly -- the good ice! The reservoir holds amble water. I saw others who talked about noise -- but for us, this version is much quieter than my old countertop ice machine. Go for it. I love the 2nd year free warranty from the GE Appliances website.

It won’t work at all now. The only thing it does is water goes through and says add water when it has plenty of water and I can see it pumping through too, just won’t produce ice.

Although I find myself re-filling the same tank too often maybe because we consume too much ice. It is also a little loud and tends to get hot, good thing I have it sitting in corner kitchen counter. So far it has been great…no complaints yet! The only complaint is the price!

Just means we need to run the deep cleaning cycle relatively often and manually restart the ice process. Not sure if that’s common or just our machine.

I followed all the instructions and recommended maintenance and only used distilled water. The machine still looked brand new and we probably would see 2-3 gallons of water a week making ice. It started to slow down and eventually ran hot and the water pump seemed to start working incrementally so the machine would only make about 2 cups of ice a day.

I bought the prototype before they were on the market and replaced it with a newer 2.0. That one started having a small leak I can’t pinpoint so I had to replace it. Trying to get repairs on these is pointless. It will cost as much to fix it as buying a new one because you have to send them in to GE. You have to ensure you stay on top of the cleaning but other than that they are great.

It does make noise while making ice, so I appreciate that ours is in the laundry room just beside the kitchen. We can grab it anytime with minimal effort. And it is always ready. I do have to remember to refill the water as we do not have a water line attached. But it is a minimal inconvenience.

I highly recommend the wifi version so that you can schedule to always have a full hoper of ice. I thought the water reservoir might be too small, but it is really efficient and I only have to fill every other day. Some mentioned it is noisy, but I have not found that. My last ice make was noticably louder. Very pleased with this purchase and definitely value for money!
