- 3 out of 5 stars review6/8/2024Love the convenience of having a tabletop ice maker, makes ice fast, just the right size, and the side reservoir minimizes having to refill. I did read some of the other reviews and am concerned about a screeching noise that other owners have posted, plus the defrost issue.

It fits perfectly under the upper cabinets without hitting anything. The side reservoir is easily accessible for refilling. The only downside to it is the noise. It is louder than our full size side by side refrigerator with a built in ice maker. Other than the noise, it has been great.

I am a chemical engineer and the instructions are difficult to follow, don't tell you that water will drip through the ice, it is necessary to prime the pump etc. They don't tell you its not made to keep on all the time. Needs to be cleaned out frequently. Called support 3 times and the hold times are over 45 minutes. The support people are real nice and helpful.
Bad instructions, complicated to use
- 2 out of 5 stars review3/30/2023We’ve had our ice maker 3 months and it already died, started emitting a weird burnt metal / plastic smell, I think essentially the intake fan failed or the motor burned out. The ice making works fine and no issues with sound (I think it’s pretty quiet) . This machine makes the best ice but I’m bummed that the machine gave out so quickly especially when I babied it, cleaned it on schedule and followed all instructions incl using only distilled water. A lot of hassle and expense for something just to die on me.

The constant drips you get when you open the drawer to get ice definitely explains the added tray for the front. Also I really wonder about the water recycling component, not really sure it does that because I'm always filling the reservoir tank. The noise level is manageable, I can deal with it for the wonderful trade off of the nugget ice.

Not a high volume machine but it keeps up with me eating ice all day long. Had issues with the shipping to my home, but once it arrived, it has been great. Use it every day, all day long.

I use exclusively distilled water even though I don't live in a hard water area just to make sure I prolong the life of my Opal. It looks gorgeous on my counter and it starts making ice when it automatically senses that the drawer went down in volume. The dimmable light that shines into the drawer makes it stand out beautifully. Worth every penny!

I would have been happy except when I took the icemaker out of the box there was a scratch and dent on one side of it and another dent on the other side. Quality team should have caught these before they was ever packed up. These appliances cost too much to come as a scratch and dent model.

It makes 24lbs of ice a day (1lb per hour), but only holds 3lbs of ice which is WAY too small. It needs a hopper to hold the 24lbs. If you did that and kept the price point where it is, you would kill the competition with volume. Still within my window of returning and have not decided yet.

We can imagine how worr... - 5 out of 5 stars review3/6/2023It was a decision months in the making due to a bad refrigerator ice maker. I finally decided to make the investment and I'm so glad I did. With the separate tank, easy to fill, it's awesome. Along with the app, set your own ice-making schedule... What a pleasure to have as much ice as I want whenever I want it. Great sized cubes... crunchy and small. The ice does melt when the unit is off, but the water gets refrozen once the unit is turned on. It's easy to use and looks nice. It does have a mild hum, so it's definitely not silent, but the volume is not a nuisance.

When scooping ice out of bin, there are water driplets that drop on the bottom tray which has to be wiped down. Overall, good ice maker!

At 4:30 p.m. party lights, party music and how party ice automatically turn on to let me know it’s happy hour. Also, we unplugged opal to repaint the backsplash and it emailed me! It said it had been offline for 48 hours and to come check on it! It also provided me contact information if I had technical issues. If the robots are coming and they are like this, sign me up!

It would say "add water" when the tank was full and not make ice. It has since started making this awful LOUD noise periodically during ice making. For the cost, IT IS NOT WORTH IT
