Had this product for about three weeks and after about three weeks when the machine was making ice it now has a squealing noise that it makes. It tends to make the noise when it is working on dispensing the ice nuggets into the ice bin. For the price paid for the machine it is really frustrating and disappointing to be having issues so soon with the appliance.

I bought it October 23, 2022. The appliance makes great ice and makes it rather quickly, but.... it's too noisy! I have to jamb a cloth between it and the wall to keep it from vibrating/resonating loudly enough that I want to turn it off. The side of the cabinet isn't stiff enough not to vibrate. On top of that, the light burned out and owner's manual says replacement of light bulbs not covered under the manufacturer's warranty!! On top of that, it will no longer follow an off/on schedule set up thru the app and app says machine needs to be descaled even though it's just been cleaned.

We love our Opal. We’ve had it for the last 3 years. My husband couldn’t live without it. He uses it the absolute most. My sister In-law bought one for her daughter’s birthday. Size is perfect and makes ice quickly. I definitely recommend getting the water filter. I have no problem giving it 5 stars!

I have always wanted a nugget ice maker. So when my ice maker in my freezer broke for second time I researched ice makers and this one had the best reviews. It cost way more than the others, but definitely worth it! I love that I can turn it on and off with my phone. Also love love love the water container connected to the side.

My wife and kids absolutely love it! Super stylish and highly functional. It stays on 24/7 at my house and only stops when the ice bin is full. Highly recommend getting the side tank as it makes replenishing the water super easy. I’ve seen some reviews talking about noise, but honestly I haven’t noticed a thing other than the occasional dropping of the ice.

The Opal 2 makes, hands down, the best crunchy nugget ice available. Never had an ice maker that I looked forward to using like I have with this one. The addition of app control makes it easy to conserve energy and schedule ice when it is needed and conserves power when it isn't.

Perfect ice every day! I love my GE nugget ice maker. I’m a regular ice cruncher and I don’t want to ruin my teeth so this is the solution. The ice is the perfect size and softness so I’m not damaging my teeth if I crunch on it. It is perfect for cocktails too! Your drinks won’t get watered down as quickly as with other ice types. I have recommended this to all of my friends.

This machine is awesome. I love the “sonic” like nugget ice it makes. We especially like using the app to set it to turn off and on so we aways have ice. The water reservoir is a wonderful addition so we dont have to keep the bottom fill. The cleaning process is simple. This is a great investment. It is a little heavy so be careful moving it. Make sure you get the GE Opal 2.

Upgraded from another brand of nugget icemaker that had broken after just over a year. The Opal 2.0 is so much quieter than the other brand and the external tank makes refilling so much easier and less messy. Also, the ice is a little softer making it more chewable. The ability to control the icemaker though choice commands and Alexa routines are also very useful features.

We love the quality of the ice and how fast it is made. The reason for only 4 stars is the water tank. We had a problem with it kept telling us to add water but it was full. We ended up sitting the tank on a piece of foam to raise the water level about an inch and haven’t had a problem since. Seems to be a bad design. Disappointing when you spend that kind of money for it not to work correctly. Over all we are happy.
