I did a ton of research before buying this, and I’ve waited 5 months before writing this to ensure I wasn’t being too hasty. Let’s start with the good- the self empty system is truly amazing. It makes vacuuming so easy, I love that function. Now, let’s get to everything else… I have two pets, that only mildly shed. It cannot keep up with their hair. My previous vacuum that started with the D word was much better at keeping up. There is constantly hair left behind, not fully picked up after I vacuum two to three times in a row. Then, I try to vacuum multiple surfaces, like hardwood floors and carpet stairs- and it overheats. It cannot do both. So, I’m stuck before company comes over with half vacuumed stairs. It’s a very first world problem in the grand scheme of things, but I’m disappointed that I invested so much money in a device that had great claims of its abilities, only to see that it cannot keep up. I’m a loyal Shark/Ninja fan. This one just doesn’t hit the mark.

I need to use it a few times more,right now I like my old cheap cordless better. There is no way you get 70 minutes of cleaning time. I have a one floor apt. And it didn't last long enough to do the whole apt. It wasn't really picking up from the edges. I had to take it apart to clean them yet. I do like how it empty s out the dirt and recharges,but not sure it's a keeper yet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Shark PowerDetect cordless vacuum is great and cleans efficiently, especially on hardwood and medium pile carpet. However, it occasionally gets stuck on low pile carpet and makes it difficult to maneuver. The self-dispensing system is genius!

I've been using my new Shark cordless vac for about two weeks. My previous was corded. So far I've been very happy with it, love the no cord! We have a dog and it has done well with cleaning up the hair. We have tile and wood floors, it cleans well. My old vacuum didn't clean going backwards and would spit items out because of the tile grout. I haven't had that issue with this one. It's much quieter than what I've had in the past, I expected it not to work as well because it was so quiet, but it works great, it does rev up when it detects more dirt on the floor. The flat attachment has worked well on the couch sides for dog hair. The attachments actually click in instead of just sliding together which is very nice. I really like the auto empty feature, nice spoiling feature. It's hard finding true reviews. I purchased it on my own because my old vac broke, no promotion, no sponsor, just me looking for a good vac.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently upgraded from my Dyson to the Shark Cordless PowerDetect Clean & Empty System Vacuum, and I’m seriously impressed. The suction power is amazing, automatically adjusting to handle both carpets and hardwood. Battery life is solid, covering my whole apartment on a single charge. It’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, especially with the MultiFlex feature that lets me reach under furniture easily. Noise level is lower than expected for the power it packs. Overall, a great replacement that makes cleaning way more efficient! Only complaint is a park came broken as you see in the picture.

I’ve been a fan of Shark corded uprights since the original Rotator, but the previous Shark Cordless vacs that I've tried have been good at best and I even returned two models after one use due to poor performance on carpet. This one is a game changer with the power that has been missing both on carpet as well as straight suction dusting. It’s also light, maneuverable and I can't believe how quiet it is, even when the power increases. Not only that but the battery usage is surprisingly long even when using the powerhead and I am able to vacuum my entire home with much carpet on one charge and then some power to spare. When you add in the self-emptying dock, this is an amazing vacuum. On carpet, the immediate power increase is instantly obvious and unlike previous models that seemed to float on the top of the surface of the carpet, you feel this one digging into the carpet, agitating it (I can feel the vibration and power in my feet) and lifting the pile. The dirt detect suction increases are spot on in the expected areas where the cat lays or heavy traffic areas as well as sometimes in unexpected areas and they clearly add to the performance. In Hand Vac mode this is light to carry as opposed to competitor models; The attachments are decent for dusting or upholstery. They are nothing special but, Shark has previously omitted either dusting or upholstery in their attachment offering, and both are handled here. I wish there was a powered upholstery tool as the closest competitor provides and I continue to ask for a small, attachable hose that makes cleaning in tight areas such as the car, much easier. I am pleasantly surprised with the straight suction dusting suction of this model and the power does increase when dirt is detected. Even without that, the base suction on the dusting mode is very good. Minor cons are that the carpet nozzle width is small which can be a pro in tight areas or a con when vacuuming a large room. You can't charge this on the dock unless the entire wand is attached (Carpet nozzle is not needed but it won't charge only in handheld mode.) There is no tool holder on the wand, so they have to be hand carried. I mentioned above that there is no powered hand tool or hose but at this price point I am pleased with what I have. I really like that I can use a very effective, powerful, light and battery efficient vacuum in my entire home and I love the power with no cord. This has many bells and whistles that I didn't even touch upon as I wanted to focus on base vacuum performance which I love. Those additional features only sweeten the user experience when using this.

The skimpy directions page is not and never will be enough and figuring how to use this vacuum without an owner’s manual is far from intuitive. A manual that Shark should provide with the vacuum, not expect me to search for and read online or print out at my expense. For the lack of a manual I would’ve given it a one star but because the vacuum seems to work well, once I finallyfound the information I needed, I’ll give it a 3 stars. And what’s the stupidity of sending the vacuum empty bin in the quiet mode? Who vacuums and then needs the bin not to empty for fear of waking someone up? That kept me from vacuuming for a couple of days when the vacuum filled up and I couldn’t get it to automatically empty or find a way to empty the actual vacuum container. And I have better things to do than constantly search YouTube and the internet.

Pleasantly surprised, the self empty feature works far better than expected. Power Detect feature saves you from having to turn power up manually and the Edge Cleaning feature works good but is annoying. The elephant in the room is you guessed it the Battery! I charged the battery 8hrs before the first used, ran the vacuum full power during first use, it ran for about 12 minutes, battery life is better on lower power levels but it doesn't clean as well! At some point you would think that cordless tool vendors would package an extra battery with their product.

This is an unreal thing, a space vacuum cleaner, very convenient to use, the developers took into account all possible wishes and made them come true! I had many different vacuum cleaners BEFORE, including Dyson, which, it should be noted, is much more expensive than this "Shark" and Shark POWERDETECT CLEAN & EMPTY I like much more! 1. The vacuum cleaner is made of high-quality pleasant material and is very clear and easy to assemble - any housewife can handle it! 2. The Shark vacuum cleaner has a DuoClean Detect Nozzle and this is simply fantastic - the vacuum cleaner itself swallows dust and you do not need to move it back and forth, it itself finds dirt and removes it! 3. MultiFLEX Arm function: allows you to vacuum in the most hard-to-reach places easily, the handle is very comfortable! 4. The vacuum cleaner itself selects the operating power depending on the dirtiness - you don't need to switch anything yourself, it selects the mode itself! and also switches the baby's work from the floor to the carpet and other surfaces - it's incredibly convenient! 5. Auto-Empty Dock function of automatic cleaning of the tank at the station! 6. The battery charging time is high up to 70 minutes, which is super enough for cleaning (it should be noted that it came already with a charge and there was an opportunity to try it out right away! 7. The vacuum cleaner works quite quietly and is not heard by the neighbors, everything is great! In a word - thanks to the manufacturers who came up with such a cool thing for the home - it doesn't take up much space - the cleaning process has turned into pleasure!

The product is light weight and has decent battery life compared to other cordless products I’ve tried. It’s easy to maneuver around hard to reach areas and the suction has been great cleaning my pups hair! I love the clean and empty aspect of it, the dust capacity is better than other vacuums I’ve tried. Overall I’m super pleased with this product!
