We’d like to assist with the issue you’re having with the Opal’s sound level. We suggest following the instructions in the manual regarding the schedule of running descaling and sanitizing cycles; going through these processes can often help with an issue. The manual can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number, go to the product’s page, and view the ‘Owner Support’ section. We also recommend only using distilled water in your Opal to help reduce the potential for mineral buildup. It’s important to note that distilled water is different from bottled water, reverse osmosis water, filtered water, or spring water. All of these other options contain varying levels of minerals that can build up in the unit and impede optimal operation. We suggest ensuring there’s at least 4” of clearance in the back, on both sides, and above the Opal to allow proper air flow. We recommend disconnecting the Opal from power for 3 to 4 hours as well, before reconnecting, to reset it. We'd like to assist you with your Opal having a blue light indicator constantly. We recommend placing the Opal into Cleaning Mode using the switch located on the back of the appliance, then pressing the front Power button. Allow the Opal to run in this mode for approximately three minutes. During this time, if the pump is operating correctly, you will be able to see and hear water pumping through the unit. If water begins pumping, this confirms the pump is functioning properly, and you can switch the ice maker back to Ice Mode and resume ice production. However, if water does not begin pumping during this time, or if the Opal continues to display a blue light even though the pump appears to be working, we recommend calling our Opal team at 866-907-6718 for further assistance.
