They Changed the Recipe…Not real sourdough!

It used to be wonderful and ingredients included sourdough starter but no longer! They evidently changed the recipe with NO sourdough starter and the bread is soft like poor quality bakery bread. It used to have a great chewy crust. I have digestive issues and can only eat sourdough bread. Sam's should not call this sourdough any longer because it is not. So disappointed!

I am looking at the ingredients and this is not what it used to be. It was the only decent option in the store for breads with a reasonable price. Why is it so hard in America to offer healthy food? Sam's club decoded that we needed yet another bread with folic acid and soybean oil. This is literally the only reason I have a Sam's club membership. I knew it was too good to be true. I am so disappointed in Sam's club.

NOT SOURDOUGH!!

This new version of this product is NOT sourdough bread - it's typical retail bread made to look like a sourdough boule. It uses yeast and not sourdough starter, contains soybean oil (sourdough does not use oil), and uses enzymes that affect the gluten. All of these things are counter to the concept of sourdough bread and completely destroy the nutritional benefits of sourdough.

Disappointed

We just started buying this bread a few months ago. We were so happy to find an affordable sourdough with a concise ingredient list that actually included sourdough starter. Our most recent purchase was however very disappointing as we found the ingredients have completely changed and the bread has lost all semblance of sourdough. It's NOT sourdough anymore. We hope the old recipe is brought back.

Not The Same Sourdough Bread

What did Sam's Club do to the sourdough bread??? I bought a new loaf yesterday. Just took a bite of it and it is NOT anything like it used to taste like. I would buy extra items just to be able to get their sourdough bread but if this is what I will be receiving, I can go to the local grocery store for crappy bread and save money.

Changed recipe - basic white bread bad ingredients

I was a huge fan of the first recipe of this sourdough, and thrilled I could actually buy bread at Sam's club. They have changed the recipe, and now this is NOT sourdough bread any longer. I wpuld give a 5-star review to the previous recipe and zero stars to this. We avoid seed oils and folic acid (synthetic folate) in our diets for daily life -- thankfully, Aldi offers a true sour dough at a good price. so disappointed in this!

NOT REAL sourdough anymore!!

they changed the recipe!!! it was so good before and I recommended it to several people. now it's just white bread, falsely marketed as sourdough. I used to get 2 loaves a week but not anymore!!! beyond disappointed they changed it just to sell it for $1 cheaper.

Soybean oil!! Sam's Club is going backwards!

This originally was a good sourdough bread, with zero bad seed oils, and had a nice sourdough flavor. Now it contains soybean oil, and tastes like carboard. What happenef?! Poorly done Sam's. Bring back the good sourdough bread without all the toxic ingredients.

A Restrained Cry into the Sourdough Void

I have been a devout disciple of the unsliced sourdough loaf for years. Every week, like clockwork, I pilgrimage to the bakery section, select my faithful uncut boule, and bring it home to become the sturdy foundation for my kids' French toast. Thick, rustic slices that actually absorb the custard without turning to mush. A crust with character. A crumb with soul. Last visit, my holy grail was missing. In its place sat this pre-sliced impostor, shrink-wrapped like evidence at a crime scene. ā€œSame bread, just convenient,ā€ I told myself. The slices were thinner than ideal, sure, but how bad could it be? Oh, how wrong I was. How catastrophically, soul-crushingly wrong. This is not bread. This is a dense, pale brick of disappointment wearing sourdough cosplay. The texture is closer to damp particle board than anything fermented and baked with love. The flavor? Nonexistent. A faint whisper of ā€œmaybe wheat?ā€ and then nothing. Just chewing. Endless, joyless chewing. It sits in the toaster like it's personally offended by heat, emerging somehow both rubbery and crumbly at the same time—an impressive feat of culinary betrayal. My children's French toast dreams have been ruined in their beds. The custard slides right off these sad, anemic sheets like they're coated in some sort of anti-absorption spell. I have been left with nothing but regret, a half-eaten loaf of shattered expectations, and the growing suspicion that someone in the bakery decided ā€œgood enoughā€ was an acceptable standard. If you, like me, respect your bread, stick to the unsliced version. This sliced abomination is a worthless loaf of broken promises. One star. I'd give it zero if Sam would let me.

What happened to the sourdough bread that I loved?

I purchased the sourdough bread a few weeks ago and it was wonderful !! I purchased it again about a week ago and it was awful ! Tasted nothing like sourdough bread. I put it in the trash. Please go back to the original recipe. It was delicious and a beautiful bread.
