I bought 2 leaves Sunday. Ate 2 slices Monday. Tasted like plain white bread even though package states "Sourdough". Then I compared ingredients to previous Members Mark sourdough. No starter used. I returned both loaves Monday and WON'T purchase it again. WHY did Sam's change a great product...

This sourdough bread was very excellent until recently. The bread is obviously now made differently (recipe, supplier, who knows) - the great sourdough tang is gone. Now it barely tastes like sourdough. This seemed to happen about the same time the bread became pre-sliced.

We bought one of these last month and thought it was great. Bought what appeared on the shelf the same product this week and it's terrible. The other review are right, this is not the same product anymore and it's profoundly disappointing. There isn't sourdough in the ingredient list, there's no sour-ness, interior has way worse crumb/fewer bubbles, and the crust on the new version stinks. Don't do it unless it looks like the old one on the shelf! We aren't picky folks but we'll be asking for our money back on next trip. What were you thinking Sam's?

Sam's has changed vendors for this product recently. This was a great item, now it's dense flavorless white bread. Not a quality sour dough. Don't try to fix what wasn't broken. As long as they carry this particular product, I won't be buying it again.

I've been purchasing the sourdough bread since since Sam's first offered it. Absolutely delicious! I couldn't get enough of it! For a long time it was only offered unsliced. The freshness and tanginess was the best. The last sourdough, sliced, that I bought tasted like ?Italian?. No sourdough tanginess at all. What happened?

This used to be our favorite sourdough bread. Something changed a little while ago and now it's awful. Bland, dry, flat and doesn't taste at all like sourdough anymore. I refuse to buy this anymore until they change it back. Used to go often to buy it, but now that it sucks it saves me money because I don't go shopping at Sam's as much.

This new version of this product is NOT sourdough bread - it's typical retail bread made to look like a sourdough boule. It uses yeast and not sourdough starter, contains soybean oil (sourdough does not use oil), and uses enzymes that affect the gluten. All of these things are counter to the concept of sourdough bread and completely destroy the nutritional benefits of sourdough.

I am looking at the ingredients and this is not what it used to be. It was the only decent option in the store for breads with a reasonable price. Why is it so hard in America to offer healthy food? Sam's club decoded that we needed yet another bread with folic acid and soybean oil. This is literally the only reason I have a Sam's club membership. I knew it was too good to be true. I am so disappointed in Sam's club.

I have been buying this bread for years, it's always been one of the best sourdough breads. The new recipe is terrible. It was dry and did not have any sour dough taste. They have added additional ingredients to the label it used to be such a great clean ingredient list. So disappointed!

We just started buying this bread a few months ago. We were so happy to find an affordable sourdough with a concise ingredient list that actually included sourdough starter. Our most recent purchase was however very disappointing as we found the ingredients have completely changed and the bread has lost all semblance of sourdough. It's NOT sourdough anymore. We hope the old recipe is brought back.
