We also borrowed a carpet cleaner from a family member but it didn't get the stains out, just seemed to pick up more dirt than our vacuum cleaner. We are now a week into using our Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam, and we have almost cleaned our entire house with it! It's super easy to use and the steam is a game changer. It really picks up then stains and the stick! My absolute two favorite things are how fast it drys (as there's no way I could keep my kids off something for 24 hours!) and how great it smells! My house feels so fresh and new after each room we use it in! I also love how easy it is to use on upholstery! My kids have child size furniture and they wipe everything on it, and this cleaned it up looking like new in no time! My husband thinks it's so easy to use that he wants to do rooms just for fun! This makes it so easy. The cleaner does a great job of using the water system to clean up stains, but it also is fantastic at drying the area very quickly. It sucks the water back up into the vacuum very effectively. Unlike other cleaners, you don't have to stay off your rugs for a day or two to let them dry. I am even more happy about the upholstery tool. I have never had an effective way to clean my couches, and now I finally do. I feel like my furniture was so gross before, but now I can actually use soap and actually CLEAN it. It is such a good feeling!

We're currently potty training at our house so the rugs have needed a few extra cleanings lately, and it's done a great job getting the messes out. It handled some sticky spots really well too. We've had a horrible coffee stain on our light carpet for months and went over it with our old cleaner about five times. The stain never even faded. After one use with this machine, the stain is nearly gone. (I missed a spot in my “after” photo, but you can clearly see how much darker that area is compared to the rest of the stain!) One more pass and I'm confident it will be completely gone. It honestly saved us from an expensive carpet replacement. 2. Real steam cleaning I love that it uses real steam. Not only was it more effective, it also felt cleaner. Because of the steam, it doesn't need a ton of cleaning solution- the steam really is its superpower. 3. The self-cleaning cycle Magic! Our old bulky machine was a pain to clean, which honestly made me avoid using it. This one has a self-cleaning cycle that keeps everything fresh - no gunky buildup or gross, stale water sitting in the machine after use. 4. Ease of use The directions are straightforward and easy to follow. There aren't a bunch of unnecessary bells and whistles- it's simple, intuitive, and gets the job done. 5. Much quieter than other machines Previous cleaners we've used were so loud I'd have to have my husband take the kids outside so we wouldn't hurt their ears. This one is quiet enough that I used it while my daughter was napping! To top it all off, this cleaner actually looks chic, which I love. As a (sometimes clumsy) mom of two messy, fun-loving kids, this machine has quickly become a staple for maintaining my sanity and managing the everyday chaos.

The steam function worked well to pick up stuck-on toddler-created messes including- vomit, play-dough, marker, crayon, blood, spit up, and potty training accidents. It also did a fantastic job cleaning cloth chairs that go with our kitchen table. All food stains that those chairs had accumulated over the past 4 years were completely removed by this product! I loved that it uses real steam to lift the stuck on messes and felt that it was giving my floors, carpets, cloth chairs and recliners a total reboot making them look good as new. The self cleaning cycle was very easy to use and saved lots of time and effort at the end of the cleaning process. The instruction manual was clear, easy to follow and included lots of helpful diagrams. It was very satisfying to see the dirty water tank as you are cleaning. Getting a visual of all the stuck on dirt motivated me to want to use the product more. It also confirmed my distrust of rented products of this nature. I would not want to use the same machine on my own floors that another person had in their home. The only mildly difficult step was reassembling the filter after cleaning the machine, but a Youtube search on how to cleared up the confusion and after doing it once, I will know how to reinstall it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam impressed me from start to finish. The first room that I cleaned with it was an enclosed porch with cream carpet. It lifted stains from shoes that I haven't been able to get up in years. The directions were clear, and assembly was as simple as snapping a few parts together. The next room I did was my children's playroom. Even though we don't allow food in there the Hydrosteam did bring up the food they've managed to get stuck on the carpet with ease. The biggest perk that I want to stress the most is that the dirty water reservoir is much improved, easy to clean, with a removable top. When I emptied it, it had brought up so much dirt that there was actually a half inch layer on the bottom of the container that rinsed out quickly. I was tickled to see the steam billowing out from the sides of the machine and I truly feel that made a large difference in the cleaning ability. Usually when writing a review I try to list some pros and cons so that people know all of the good and bad but I do have to say that I found no cons while using this product. It's been a lifesaver and down the road if this ever needs replacing (because with two toddlers we clean messes often) I would absolutely replace it with the same model.

I had some week old salsa stains on my carpet from when my two year old decided to have chips in the living room. I spent a long time trying to get them up by hand, this machine was a miracle worker. The stains stood no chance and came up so easily and quickly I was kicking myself for not investing in a carpet cleaner years earlier. I love that it has a large clean water capacity. There is nothing worse than constantly having to refill while in the middle of cleaning. I also really appreciate the upholstery attachment. We have two dark blue fabric chairs that are starting to show dirt marks and I'm thrilled that I can clean both my carpets and my chairs with the same thing. I love the steam power function. It really seemed to help lift those stubborn stains right out of the carpet with little effort on my part.
