I have owned several bissells before this, and this one takes the cake. It cleans SO well. It uses alot of water, but it cleans so fast and so completely. I have been bragging about this to my mom over and over. It also has fantastic suction, and leaves the floor pretty dry. Besides the cleaning, it is such an improvement over the pet revolution, as everything comes apart with the push of a button, and can be cleaned in easily seconds. The plastic base is also great, as it allows it to drain and dry in between cleaning. Bissel really knocked it out of the park with this one.

The steam appears to loosen and lift up dirt better as well. Going over the carpet with a wet pass then a few dry passes to suck up most of the surface moisture helped it dry a little faster. My rug was nearly dry in less than a couple of hours, though I would definitely wait overnight before using it. While it is powerful, it is also very loud. With the included instructions, it was fairly easy to put together, though not entirely intuitive. It did leak all over at first but I believe it was user error. Every time I paused or stopped the machine, it also spurted out water on the bottom. But while it was wet, it was not a large puddle. It also required more passes to clean deep-seated dirt. It honestly didn't look like it was removing any old stains or grime but the dirty water tank at the end told a different story--it had sludge on the bottom when poured out. All the accessories and tools that came with the machine are very well thought out, down to the hose in a bag. There aren't too many parts to clean and they're not too hard to take apart and clean. Even included is a long tool that removes hair from the brush roll on one end and cleans out the nozzle on the other end. Also, the self-cleaning mode for the tool was magic! With just a click, it looked like it went into reverse mode from dirty to clean. I am very happy not to have to spend a lot of money renting a machine or hiring a commercial cleaner. I can't wait to use this on more applications, like cleaning upholstered car seats that we've been needing to deep clean.

I absolutely hate wet carpet cleaners because they take days, or at the very least hours upon hours to dry, leaving everything soggy and making it feel like nothing gets accomplished. After just one use, I wasn't just pleasantly surprised, I was frankly completely amazed at how close to fully dry the carpet was after the entire process. This is such a game changer. The steam, which initially sounded like a gimmick, is absolutely worth it. You can literally see it working to loosen dirt and gunk. I was quite skeptical, but the steam power function is legitimately one of the best features here. There's a noticeable difference in the sections where I used the steam pretreat. You can clearly see from my photos where I used the steam pretreat; there's a cleaner line where the treated carpet meets the untreated areas, which really demonstrates the difference this feature makes. I'll be honest, I was bracing myself for a messy cleanup nightmare. But the self cleaning cycle is actually pretty straightforward and intuitive. It's easy to run and does a solid job of flushing out the gunk so you aren't left with a smelly machine sitting in your closet. I used the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam on a rug that I've had for about five years that had never been deep cleaned—only occasionally vacuumed. With two kids (currently ages 3 and 6), our rug has seen plenty of spills and stains over the years. After using the machine, I could clearly see adifference. The rug looked deeply cleaned and even felt fluffier underfoot, almost like it was new again. How Well It Tackled Sticky, Stuck-On Messes The Bissell did a great job tackling sticky, stuck-on messes. It removed almost every stain except one mysterious yellow stain that I still can't identify. It successfully removed stains from ketchup, juice, sunscreen, and tracked-in dirt, which was impressive given how long some of those had been there. Steam Power Function I really appreciate that this machine uses real steam. Knowing that the steam is helping sanitize the carpet gave me extra confidence that the rug was not just clean on the surface but deeply cleaned. Insert the handle, and pretty much ready to go. The Clean water tank is simple to fill up with the carpet cleaner solution and water. I will say the solution runs out very quickly especially if you have large stains in the carpet. I was able to clean multiple rooms at my house and the carpets look very clean. I was impressed to see how dirty it was to begin with. Now I feel like my house is a lot cleaner especially having kids running around the carpet all day long. The vacuum itself comes with a few accessories to clean couche and other spot treat areas. It has a built-in steam function that is ready and no more than 35 seconds, I timed it and it's fairly accurate. I'm able to pre-treat certain spots in the carpet using just steam and then deep clean and shampoo right after. I love that feature. The only thing I would say that is kind of a bummer for me is the drying feature as it takes quite some time to dry. Not a deal breaker but would be nice for a quick dry function that is powerful. The holding the handle down and release to dry is something to get used to as well. It's not overly loud compared to other vacuums I've used before but it definitely isn't quite. It does the job well, it is very effective. It's also a bit bulky and heavy but is expected from carpet cleaners.

I tried it on two different area rugs. One that is a lighter color and just looked grimy since my dog loves to sit there. Another was a thin, entryway doormat that you could see some dirt stains on. What I appreciate about this steamer is its long heavy duty power cord, use of plastic that does not feel cheap or flimsy but reduces weight, ease of use, components that fit together with a snap, and its efficiency at cleaning recent messes. To set expectations, it does not remove old stains from dyes or bleach, it isn't light compared to a vacuum, and it isn't self-cleaning (even if it has this mode, you will still need to clean it to keep it in good working condition). The weight is reasonable as this is a steamer and not a stick vacuum, and Bissell did a great job including balancing quality parts for a reasonable weight. It works well to clean recent spills, so don't expect a miracle with something that cannot be removed like a dye, old stain, or bleached product to return back to its original color. As the instructions mention, this product can clean up accidents with slime, jelly, honey, syrup, chocolate sauce, blood, wine, urine, mud, juice, grease, vomit, baby food, and spaghetti sauce. As this is a cleaning product that you may use occasionally, it can pull up a lot of gunk, so it is best to clean it after each use. It's super easy to clean with a quick rinse of each piece.
