Great For Everyday Kid Messes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bissell Hydrosteam is a great carpet cleaner for tackling both everyday messes and hidden dirt with the power of steam. It was surprisingly easy to assemble and start using. You simply click the handle into place and insert the clean water tank. I was honestly surprised by how lightweight it felt, which made it easy to carry up the stairs. The product feels very sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. It was very simple to fill the tank with water, and I loved the markings on the side of the clean water tank, so I knew exactly how much water and solution to add. After that, I simply plugged it in and it was ready to go. It didn't take long for it to heat it up. The power button on the vacuum seems a little odd (it has a protective plastic cover over it), but it works perfectly. The machine was very simple to use- squeeze the trigger to release the solution as you move the vacuum forward and release the trigger as you pull the vacuum back. I loved that there was a steam pre-treat option to help get out stubborn stains and felt like it worked well. The steam power function was by far my favorite feature. You can actually see the steam as you're using the vacuum, and it feels like it is getting the carpet so much cleaner. As a mom of six, there are constant messes, and this carpet cleaner quickly and easily tackled toothpaste and marker on my carpet. I was amazed that it got everything out so quickly and easily. We are a ‘no shoes in the house' family, and I assumed my carpets were mostly clean. I was wrong. I was both disgusted by how dirty the water was when I emptied the tank, as well as satisfied that the carpet was now so much cleaner. One thing I didn't realize at first was that you need to empty the dirty water tank before using the self-cleaning cycle. The first time I tried it, I didn't empty the tank and water squirted out of the attachment while I was running the self-clean cycle. However, after I emptied the dirty water tank, the self-cleaning function worked great. It was very easy to use and also pretty cool to watch! It was also very easy to disassemble, and I loved that the parts rinsed so easily. I've been really happy with this carpet cleaner so far. It's simple to use, powerful enough for everyday family messes, and left my carpet looking almost like new.
Powerful Cleaner for Carpet and Upholstery
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Revolution HydroSteam has been a game changer this past week on my carpet and upholstery! The machine is super easy to set up. I also love how the water levels and chemical levels are clearly marked on the tank so you are confident on the amount to add without needing to measure. Almost immediately I could tell how powerful this cleaner is. The suction is impressive and really pulls the dirt and stuck on particles up from the carpet. My tank water was very brown when I finished a high traffic room! Recently, my child got some sticky candy on a throw pillow. There was also some stubborn dog urine stains and hot chocolate stains on a rug for over a year. Using the attachment for the pillow and the cleaner for the floor, I pretreated with the steam and then went over the stains using the solution and steam. It did a wonderful job getting rid of the sticky residue and pulling up the stains on the carpet. While they aren't 100% gone, it's a huge improvement! The steam really helps make a difference in performance on cleaning up tough stains- as a bonus I feel like I am sanitizing the areas in my home, too! I felt the clean water in the tank was used up quicker with the steam option, but I'm ok with that knowing my floors are getting the best cleaning treatment. The self-cleaning cycle is easy to do. I appreciate the cleaning tools to make clean up more efficient. I am hoping it makes a difference in keeping lines clean from build up or mold. I wish the tanks had a vent so they can dry quicker. A longer power cord would make it easier to clean larger rooms, too. Overall, this is the best cleaner I've ever owned, and it's sharp looking, too with its black and copper accents!
Great cleaning tool for homes with pets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two dogs and two young children; our home has rugs, hardwood floors, and carpet. Messes are a fact of our daily life. Every carpet cleaner I've tried previously may clean well but is a nightmare to maintain afterwards. The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam is WAY easier to maintain and clean after use than any other carpet cleaner I've tried previously. I tried using it on a weird orange-red spot (goodness knows what it was) on our brand new rug; it removed the spot really well. I did notice that it seemed to leave a bit more dampness after multiple passes then I would like, but the orange-red spot is almost entirely gone. The steam power was fantastic! I do wish that the machine picked up a bit more of the water that it put down but it's nothing excessive, and it's in line with the drying function I have experienced with other machines. Not only was the self-cleaning cycle easy to use, but the entire machine is very easily cleanable. The front of the carpet cleaner's head disassembles and all of the detritus picked up by the cleaner can be scooped right out with the included tool. None of the pet hair or debris that our cleaner picked up went into the dirty water tank and it didn't clog the machine. The tool they give you to clear any pet hair from the machine is plenty long, too, so it's easy to get all of the junk out. I'm really happy with this carpet cleaner!
Superior Clean Looks Good as New
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially questioned whether we needed the full-size steam cleaner, since we already own a smaller, portable version—but the difference is truly significant. The overall cleaning power of this machine is incredibly impressive. After vacuuming our area rugs with a standard dry vacuum, I was shocked to see how much additional dirt the Hydrosteam still pulled up. It made it clear that what looked “clean” before wasn't actually deep-cleaned. When it comes to tackling sticky, stuck-on messes, this machine delivers. With two kids under three and a dog, we deal with everything from spilled honey to potty-training accidents—and it handled all of it with ease. Even older, set-in stains that had been sitting in our carpet for nearly two years were finally lifted. The pre-treat steam function was especially effective for those stubborn spots. The steam power is a standout feature. You can truly feel that it's using real steam, and it makes a noticeable difference in breaking down grime and sticky residue. That said, the steam gets very hot (something to be mindful of if you have young kids or pets nearby) while cleaning. I also appreciated the self-cleaning cycle. It was straightforward to use and made post-cleanup much easier, which is a huge plus after tackling big messes, and I definitely was not interested in cleaning it myself after seeing how much dirt it picked up. One minor downside I noticed was that during cleaning, some wet lint would initially streak across the carpet surface. However, the machine picked it back up after a few passes, so it ended up being more of a visual indicator of how much dirt was still embedded in the carpet. The main drawback for me is the weight. We live in a two-story home with carpeted bedrooms upstairs, and the machine can be heavy to carry—especially when filled with water. Because of that, I see myself using it most often on our high-traffic area rugs downstairs and relying on a smaller cleaner for quick spot treatments upstairs. Overall, this machine exceeded my expectations. Our rugs haven't looked this clean since the day we bought them, and it's become an essential tool for managing the everyday messes that come with a busy household.
We’re thrilled to hear how impressed you are with the deep-cleaning and steam power of your BISSELL HydroSteam® machine. We appreciate you calling out the weight and heat of the steam; those are important considerations, especially in multi-level homes, and your feedback is helpful for future improvements. Bissell doesnt disappoint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For context, we have two boys and a girl (ages 8, 5, and 2) plus an elderly coonhound. Our dog sheds like crazy and sometimes pees on the carpeted floor in her sleep. We purchased a Bissell pet carpet cleaner that was on the basic end but it was reliable for cleaning up most of the messes we had to deal with.. until the kids tracked something sticky on the carpeted stairs and coffee got spilled on our light gray couch and a bunch of other things we realized our basic carpet cleaner was not going to be able to clean. Enter: Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam So many upgrades on this version! The steam pre treat feature is super helpful for those sticky messes. The one I mentioned about the stairs that ended up drying into a hard clump? Yeah, I awkwardly held the full machine on the steps to use the steam feature (the nozzle attachment doesnt do the steam) and it was so worth it! After I steam treated, I used the nozzle attachment and bam, the sticky stuff was gone! I tried everything short of cutting the stuff out of the rug and this machine did it in 15 minutes. With that success, I got to work on the year old coffee stain on my couch. I attached before and after photos of that. I think it did pretty well considering I had no expectations for a set-in stain like that. The nozzle attachment is super helpful and I see myself using it in the near future on other messes. A great feature on the attachment is the self clean option that was really easy to work. I will say, that my dogs fur clogged the sprayer on the nozzle so toward the end of cleaning all my stair landings, the spray was not working. I vacuumed the stairs first, but my dogs fur really works into carpet. What ended up fixing the issue was disassembling the hose attachment and fully cleaning it by running a water stream through the hose to flush all the fur out. (After the fact, I realized what the gray stick was for - there is a nozzle clean out tool included!) The other feature I liked was how easy it was to clean. If you have a carpet cleaner, you know they are usually super annoying to clean. This one isn't! The front cover comes off and its very easy to clean every spot and put right back unlike other machines that have nooks and crannies that you have to use a screwdriver to undo and fully clean then let air dry before reassembling. Plus, the dirty water tank has a lid that fully comes off for easier cleaning! I can reach my hand in and get all the dirt and grime out of the tank unlike my other Bissell. Shout out to the clean water tank as well for having a larger opening that makes air drying faster than my other version! No more waiting around for all the parts to dry before storing away. Looking forward to not stressing at every spill, mess, or tracked in muddy paw print thanks to this Bissell! TLDR: if you have kids or a dog, get this one. Steam pretreat, self cleaning nozzle attachment, easy clean features. It will make your life easier.. just get it!
So happy with our clean carpets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I am really happy with the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam! It was really easy to get set up and start using, and - probably even more important - it's really easy to clean afterwards as well! The cleaning power and suction on this machine is great. I've had a few stubborn stains on my carpet (flat weave) that have been hard to get out before trying this. With 3 kids and 3 pets, it's impossible to avoid! After using the steam and the cleaning solution, the stains are pretty much gone. I'm so happy and amazed! The steam feature is a must have and works so well. Overall, the machine feels solid, cleans well, is easy to clean afterwards, and does what it's meant to do. 5 stars for sure, and would recommend to anyone with stains and sticky messes to clean up!
Wonderful steam clean function
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm overall very happy with the new steam clean first Bissell shampooer. Unboxing and assembly is very simple and quick. I used to have another Bissell model that burned out and I have been without one for a while. First I tried this on my need to be replaced bedroom carpet. It's a light color and hasn't been cleaned in years. The first pass I thought the steam only was the only option, so make sure you are on the correct setting. There is no option to not use steam that I am aware. I figured out the correct way shortly after, and am pleased with results. My carpet felt so much cleaner and smelled really nice from the actual soap. It can't bring it back to life completely but I can tell a difference. The second area I tried was a 3” red ketchup stain on the same light oatmeal colored carpet. It's been neglected for months. I think the steam helped loosen the stain before soaping. This small area took a few passes but it did fully come up. I noticed that my carpet was dry much quicker than the older model (I'm talking just a few years old). The manual says 3-4 hrs I believe, and it actually was 3-4 hrs in areas that had a full soak of several passes with the trigger held. I am now a believer of the pre steam miracle. So happy to have this whole home steamer and tackle all of my furniture shortly!
Highly effective in cleaning carpets and rugs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been a long time since I've owned another Bissell! So with an aging house that's been more and more costly in upkeep, I hoped to get better results by cleaning my carpets at home than to hire a professional service. So far, it's extremely easy to set up and the hydrosteamer isn't too heavy to pick up and maneuver (which was the big reason I never owned a steamer again till now- they get so heavy!). It does pretty good lifting up fresh and pigmented stains, such as blood, crayon, paint, and pet messes. Far as older stains, which was my main focus when trying this, it struggled a bit. For an older pet stain, I needed around 4-7 passes before it could lift it a few shades but not entirely. Though, I got a better result when spot cleaning first before trying it again at least. The self cleaning cycle is a highly convenient feature since I admit the cleaner is designed in a way that its little hard to get into far as cleaning it out. It does get really noisy, though, especially when treating furniture! Honestly, that's not a big deal breaker as long as it works well. For deep cleaning rugs, this is excellent in that regard. My rugs literally went up to three shades lighter after one treatment! The steam power function made a huge difference with this, but it tends to leave more of a mess behind. So for some things, this is a beast. Others, it can help a good deal with some spot treating beforehand. Besides my issues, I'd still would recommend this cleaner.
We’re glad to hear the HydroSteam® machine has been easy to use and delivered noticeable results on rugs and fresh stains, especially with the steam power feature. For older or set‑in stains, pretreating first—just as you mentioned—can really help improve results, and our tips at support.bissell.com may offer a few extra tricks. We appreciate your honest feedback and recommendation.
Carpet Like New
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first standup carpet cleaner I've owned. Since getting a cat, I figured it was time. We've had stains on the carpet from stuff coming out both ends of the cat that we couldn't quite completely remove with a hand-held. The Bissell was easy to prep, with lines showing where to fill with water and with cleaner. The steam light went on in under 30 seconds as advertised. It took a few seconds to get going after pulling the trigger, then the steam/water was consistent afterwards. It has impressive cleaning power, both with the suction and the brush roller. When I was all done and the carpet had dried, those stubborn stains were gone. Having the steam option made all of the difference in getting a carpet that looks as clean as when it was first installed. The cleaning was a cinch. The base popped off and the hair catch slid right out. It picked up more human and cat hair than my vacuum did. Throw the hair in the garbage, rinse out the tanks and brush guard, give it a quick wipe down, then leave it out to dry.
Powerful cleaning and great steaming feature
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam is everything I need and more! It has all the features I am looking for when it comes to vacuum cleaner. It is a no brainer when it comes to assembling it. Easy peasy! I like that it has an option for a cleaning mode and additional hose and attachments. The steaming feature works well and it really does the job and you can literally see the grime and dirt being sunction so you know it really does it's job! It is so easy to clean the attachments and brush rolls. I would definitely recommend it to a friend! It is a must-have! Great product!
