Great for carpet cleaning
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have three young kids, so my carpets go through a lot with food spills, drinks, and dirt. I was really excited to try the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam, and overall, I'm very impressed. The cleaning power is strong. After using it, the dirty water tank was black, which honestly says everything. It clearly pulled a lot of dirt out of our carpets that regular vacuuming leaves behind. The room looked noticeably fresher and cleaner afterward. It did a solid job tackling everyday messes and many of the tougher spots. Some stains came out completely, while others needed a couple of passes or didn't fully disappear, but there was still a big improvement. For high traffic areas and kid messes, it definitely holds up. The steam feature is a standout. I really appreciated that it uses real steam, not just hot water. When we went over tougher spots a few times with the steam, it noticeably helped break down dirt and grime much better than standard cleaning alone. The self cleaning function is super convenient and easy to use. It takes the hassle out of maintenance, which is a big plus, especially after seeing how much dirt it pulls out. I also love the different attachments. It makes it easier to clean more than just carpets, especially with kids around. We have a light colored couch, which stains so easily. I cannot wait to use this for that. Not every stain disappeared from our carpet completely, but the overall cleaning performance, steam power, and ease of use make this machine a great choice for families. It made a visible difference in our carpets, and I would definitely recommend it.
A carpet cleaner with actual steam cleaning
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really impressed with the overall cleaning power of the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam. Our home has very dense carpet that's honestly pretty tough to clean well, so I was curious to see how it would perform. With two kids and a dog in the house, our carpets definitely see their fair share of traffic. This machine did a great job pulling dirt out of the carpet and leaving everything looking noticeably refreshed. I also really appreciated that it cleaned deeply without leaving the carpet overly wet or saturated afterward. Between kids, snacks, and everyday life, sticky messes definitely happen in our house. The Hydrosteam handled those areas really well and helped loosen buildup in the carpet fibers. It made a noticeable difference in the spots that tend to get the most use in our home. The steam feature was honestly one of my favorite parts. I loved knowing and seeing that it uses real steam because it made me feel like it was doing more than just surface cleaning. With kids and a dog running around, it gave me peace of mind knowing it was helping break down grime while also tackling the hidden bacteria and germs that can live deep in carpet fibers. The machine was very easy to use overall, and the self-cleaning cycle made cleanup afterward simple, which I always appreciate. Anything that saves time when you're juggling kids, pets, and a busy house is a win. Overall, for a home with dense carpet, kids, and a dog constantly tracking things in, I was really happy with how well the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam performed. It cleaned deeply, didn't oversaturate the carpet, and left our floors looking and feeling much fresher.
The future vacuum
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As both a teacher and a parent, I'm always looking for ways to make home life a little easier and a little cleaner. Anyone who works with kids all day knows that messes are simply part of the job description — whether they happen in the classroom or at home. Between muddy shoes, spilled snacks, craft projects, and the occasional pet accident, our floors go through a lot. Recently, I tried a steam vacuum cleaner, and it has quickly become one of the most helpful cleaning tools in our house. With kids and pets running around, it feels like there is always something on the floor that needs attention, so having a machine that can handle everyday messes efficiently has been a huge help. Overall cleaning power: I was genuinely impressed with the overall cleaning power. It does a great job lifting dirt, pet hair, and debris from carpets and rugs, especially in high-traffic areas like our entryway and living room. Instead of having to go over the same area multiple times, the suction and steam combination made it easy to clean floors thoroughly in one pass. Sticky or stuck-on messes: One of the things I wanted to see was how well it handled the types of messes kids tend to leave behind—juice spills, snack residue, and other sticky spots. It actually tackled those stuck-on messes much better than I expected. The steam helped loosen the grime so the vacuum could lift it away without me needing to scrub or pretreat the spot. Steam power function: The steam power function was one of my favorite features. I really appreciated that it uses real steam because it helps break down dirt and odors while reducing the need for harsh chemicals. As a parent, that's something I value since kids and pets spend a lot of time playing on the floor. The steam also seemed to refresh the carpets and make them look brighter after cleaning. Self-cleaning cycle: Another feature I really liked was the self-cleaning cycle. After using the machine, being able to run the cleaning cycle made maintenance incredibly easy. It helps rinse out the internal parts so everything stays clean and ready for the next use. The process was simple and only took a few minutes, which is great for busy households that don't have time for complicated upkeep. Overall, this steam vacuum cleaner has been a great addition to our home. It handles everyday family messes, helps keep floors looking fresh, and saves time when it comes to cleaning. For families with kids, pets, or just a lot of activity in the house, it's definitely a tool worth having. It makes tackling messes feel much less overwhelming and helps keep our home feeling clean and welcoming—even on the busiest days.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad to hear how well the machine is helping you tackle busy family messes and that the steam and self‑cleaning features are making a difference in your routine. If you ever need tips for carpet care or upkeep, our Consumer Care team is always here to help.
Superior Clean Looks Good as New
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially questioned whether we needed the full-size steam cleaner, since we already own a smaller, portable version—but the difference is truly significant. The overall cleaning power of this machine is incredibly impressive. After vacuuming our area rugs with a standard dry vacuum, I was shocked to see how much additional dirt the Hydrosteam still pulled up. It made it clear that what looked “clean” before wasn't actually deep-cleaned. When it comes to tackling sticky, stuck-on messes, this machine delivers. With two kids under three and a dog, we deal with everything from spilled honey to potty-training accidents—and it handled all of it with ease. Even older, set-in stains that had been sitting in our carpet for nearly two years were finally lifted. The pre-treat steam function was especially effective for those stubborn spots. The steam power is a standout feature. You can truly feel that it's using real steam, and it makes a noticeable difference in breaking down grime and sticky residue. That said, the steam gets very hot (something to be mindful of if you have young kids or pets nearby) while cleaning. I also appreciated the self-cleaning cycle. It was straightforward to use and made post-cleanup much easier, which is a huge plus after tackling big messes, and I definitely was not interested in cleaning it myself after seeing how much dirt it picked up. One minor downside I noticed was that during cleaning, some wet lint would initially streak across the carpet surface. However, the machine picked it back up after a few passes, so it ended up being more of a visual indicator of how much dirt was still embedded in the carpet. The main drawback for me is the weight. We live in a two-story home with carpeted bedrooms upstairs, and the machine can be heavy to carry—especially when filled with water. Because of that, I see myself using it most often on our high-traffic area rugs downstairs and relying on a smaller cleaner for quick spot treatments upstairs. Overall, this machine exceeded my expectations. Our rugs haven't looked this clean since the day we bought them, and it's become an essential tool for managing the everyday messes that come with a busy household.
We’re thrilled to hear how impressed you are with the deep-cleaning and steam power of your BISSELL HydroSteam® machine. We appreciate you calling out the weight and heat of the steam; those are important considerations, especially in multi-level homes, and your feedback is helpful for future improvements. If you ever want tips for easier transport or best-use practices, our team is always here at support.bissell.com.
Effective Cleans Messes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I give the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Carpet Cleaner a solid 4.5 stars for its performance and functionality. The overall cleaning power is very effective, easily pulling up both fresh spills and older stains after a couple of passes. It tackled everyday messes extremely well and made a noticeable difference in high-traffic areas. I believe the steam function greatly improves the overall cleaning results. The machine is very easy to use and provides a smooth operation. I like how easy it is to remove and replace both the clean and dirty water tanks. Filling the clean tank and emptying the dirty one is quick and hassle-free, which makes the whole process more convenient. The long cord length is another big plus, allowing me to move around without constantly switching outlets. The cleaned surface is a little wetter than what I've experienced with other machines, but it feels like a fair tradeoff for the more effective, deeper cleaning results. The self-cleaning cycle is helpful for furniture and smaller areas the main machine can't reach, though it isn't quite as powerful and doesn't offer steam, but it's still a convenient added feature. If you have carpet in your home and find yourself needing to clean messes, this steam-powered carpet cleaner is a solid investment.
We’re glad to hear the Revolution® HydroSteam™ delivered strong results on both fresh spills and older stains, especially in high‑traffic areas. As you noted, carpets may feel a bit wetter due to the deeper clean and steam power—slower passes and allowing extra drying time can help. We appreciate you highlighting the easy tank removal, long cord, and self‑cleaning features that make the process more convenient overall.
Best Wet Dry Vacuum Ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently tried the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam Wet Dry Vacuum. I have to say that I was honestly blown away by how well it worked. We have a dog and 3 small children. There's stains in our rugs that have been there for years. I tried everything to remove them with no success. This vacuum literally removed all those stains. It's like I have brand new carpets again. Now I look forward to cleaning my carpets because they actually look clean when I'm done. So if you haven't tried this Vacuum yet I suggest you run, not walk and get yourself one today. You'll be so glad you did and your carpets will definitely thank you for it.
Great For Everyday Kid Messes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bissell Hydrosteam is a great carpet cleaner for tackling both everyday messes and hidden dirt with the power of steam. It was surprisingly easy to assemble and start using. You simply click the handle into place and insert the clean water tank. I was honestly surprised by how lightweight it felt, which made it easy to carry up the stairs. The product feels very sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. It was very simple to fill the tank with water, and I loved the markings on the side of the clean water tank, so I knew exactly how much water and solution to add. After that, I simply plugged it in and it was ready to go. It didn't take long for it to heat it up. The power button on the vacuum seems a little odd (it has a protective plastic cover over it), but it works perfectly. The machine was very simple to use- squeeze the trigger to release the solution as you move the vacuum forward and release the trigger as you pull the vacuum back. I loved that there was a steam pre-treat option to help get out stubborn stains and felt like it worked well. The steam power function was by far my favorite feature. You can actually see the steam as you're using the vacuum, and it feels like it is getting the carpet so much cleaner. As a mom of six, there are constant messes, and this carpet cleaner quickly and easily tackled toothpaste and marker on my carpet. I was amazed that it got everything out so quickly and easily. We are a ‘no shoes in the house' family, and I assumed my carpets were mostly clean. I was wrong. I was both disgusted by how dirty the water was when I emptied the tank, as well as satisfied that the carpet was now so much cleaner. One thing I didn't realize at first was that you need to empty the dirty water tank before using the self-cleaning cycle. The first time I tried it, I didn't empty the tank and water squirted out of the attachment while I was running the self-clean cycle. However, after I emptied the dirty water tank, the self-cleaning function worked great. It was very easy to use and also pretty cool to watch! It was also very easy to disassemble, and I loved that the parts rinsed so easily. I've been really happy with this carpet cleaner so far. It's simple to use, powerful enough for everyday family messes, and left my carpet looking almost like new.
Such an upgrade
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! The Bissell Hydrosteam is truly impressive! I've used a lot of upright and handheld carpet / upholstery cleaners and this one outperforms all of them. I LOVE the steam feature. I was able to presteam areas of my sons' bedroom rug that had slime smashed into the carpet and it came right out after. The clean water / soap container and the dirty water container are both a great size. They hold a lot without being overly bulky or hard to carry. On the regular cleaning function, this machine was able to make my area rugs look fresh and bright. The handheld attachment lets me use it on my couches and for spot treating and it works great. Best of all, it is a breeze to clean this machine. The containers have wide openings to empty them that also allow them to dry quickly. The front panel over the roller brush also pops off easily to clean lint and dirt out easily. And the handheld attachment has a self-cleaning mode to get all the lint and dirt out of the brush head. I love that this machine, which is the same size as my previous upright carpet cleaner, actually replaces 2 machines because of the handheld attachment. Plus it has the steam feature which is an amazing upgrade that makes it even more effective.
Great Carpet cleaner
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 4 kids and 2 dogs and sometimes our carpets just need a little extra help. This cleaner has been wonderful! We can deep clean our carpets without outside help and the help refresh the room and make it feel more like when we first moved in. Thankfully we haven't had many crusty/stick-on messes, mostly dog hair and stains, crumbs stuck in the carpet fibers. It helped clean all of that. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that it can leave the carpet wet, and found adding extra weight to the base to increase contact and thus increase suction helped to remove more water. I'd recommend also adding fans to the room to help ensure everything fully dries! Overall we love it and will keep using it to deep clean our carpets.
Strong Features and Thoughtful Design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Carpet Cleaner. My overall impression is positive. The machine feels sturdy and well designed, and it's clear that Bissell put thought into creating a cleaner that can handle deeper messes while still being user friendly. The cleaning power seems strong and well suited for everyday household messes. It appears capable of working through tougher spots and stains, including sticky or stuck-on messes that can be harder to remove with standard cleaning methods. One feature that stood out to me is the steam power function. I really appreciated that it uses real steam as part of the cleaning process. I found this especially helpful when using it on my couch. With a three-year-old who loves to get sticky hands on everything, having the added steam feature felt like a great way to tackle those kinds of messes and freshen up upholstery. I also liked the inclusion of the self-cleaning cycle. It's a thoughtful feature that helps simplify maintenance after using the machine. The process is straightforward and makes it easier to keep the cleaner itself in good condition after cleaning. Overall, the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Carpet Cleaner offers several helpful features and a solid design. Between the steam capability and the self-cleaning function, it seems like a strong option for households looking for a carpet cleaner with a few extra tools built in
