A MUST HAVE
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far the best carpet cleaner I have owned. Works GREAT and well worth the money. Very easy to use and the attachments make the job so..so easy! A MUST HAVE!
I would buy this again and again.
I've had this carpet cleaner for over two years. The first time I used it was to clean my entire homes old carpet and WOW those old stains were no where to be seen. Since then it's been used to removed coffee spills, pet & baby accidents, soup, mud, etc. Does great to keep the carpet fresh with regular maintenance, too. It only takes a few hours to dry completely which I find impressive considering how much cleaning solution it initially puts down! My only complaint is once you're done using it dirty water will drip out from the bottom if you leave the cleaner sitting for even a minute. This problem is easily solved by having a rag to place it on or going directly to a tiled surface you can wipe up. The machine itself is easy to clean/maintain. This is the best home cleaning product I've ever bought. If it ever breaks I want the exact same one!
If you like to clean youre going to love this
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam and it really works great. It cleans way better than I expected and pulls out dirt I didn't even know was in the carpet. The HydroSteam part helps a lot, especially on spots that get used a lot. What I like most is how satisfying it is to use. Seeing the dirty water tank fill up is kind of crazy but also nice to see because you know it's really cleaning. It makes you feel like your carpet is actually getting clean. My wife loves it now too and always notices how clean the carpet looks after we use it. And now that our 8 month old is starting to move around more, it feels really good knowing the carpet is clean for her. Overall, it's easy to use and does a really good job. If you want something that actually cleans your carpet and you can see the results, this is worth it.
This is the real deal for a true stream cleaner
Having dogs and cats. I have always had a Bissell steam cleaner in the house since we have lots of carpeting. The older products did a decent job keeping the carpets clean. The Revolution Hydrosteam takes it to a whole new level. You can actually see the steam when you are operating the unit. The vacuum side is night and day better than the older versions. I used to have to go over the carpet several times over a couple hours to get it really dry. This new unit does a great job right away (big time and muscle saver). I would put the Revolution Hydrosteam Pet Carpet Cleaner on parr with the rental units. at the hardware stores. The sample cleaner solution completely made the carpet look like new and smells great. I'm now motivated to do the entire house this weekend. The wheels roll nice and smooth making the task easy enough for my kids. Great product!
HORRIBLE SUCTION
Shoot. I bought this for the steam feature because that always helps get carpets cleaner in my 25+ years of experience cleaning carpets. While this does seem to steam and clean decently, it leaves an unfathomable amount of water/soap in the carpets. I started with a tank of 128 ounces (1 gallon) and all that it sucked out was a mere 22 ounces of dirty water. I did as the manual suggested and went over each washed section multiple times without the spray feature so as to “suck” the dirty water out. Still just that 22 ounces came out and I'm left with significantly wet carpets. Now I feel I need to go over it again with just water (no solution) so as to try to remove some more of that soap and dirt from the carpets. The machine was promising in that it was easy to set up and sleek looking, not too bulky as past carpet cleaners have been. I read the entire manual and ensured I was using it correctly. I've owned 5-7 carpet cleaners in adulthood and this is by far the least effective at removing water from the carpets. Boy, leaving that much water in my carpets is a no-go and I'll have to return this. Super bummed.
We’re sorry to hear how disappointing the water pickup has been, especially after following the manual and having experience with other carpet cleaners. Leaving carpets overly wet isn’t expected, and our team can help review suction, nozzle contact, and tank setup to improve extraction. Powerful steam clean and easy on arthritic hands
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a busy home. We currently have one cat, but the kids and my spouse make a much bigger mess. There is always a spill, often a stain, and a lot of the time, a sticky mess. To make this even more troublesome, I have severe environmental allergies and must keep things very clean or I risk a hospital visit for my allergy induced asthma. I am not someone who uses a carpet cleaner only seasonally, but rather, I use it quite regularly. With the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam, I was intrigued at the cleaning possibility and performance with the added steam focus. I was not disappointed. This machine is quite powerful and really leaves my home feeling much cleaner without added effort. I prefer to clean with steam for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it really seems to kill off those nasty allergens that literally keep me up at night, coughing and wheezing. My family just moved into our home with brand-new carpet and I expected to not have much to pick up, even in our high-traffic areas. I was surprised that we had such murky water in the dirty water tank! Surprised, and very delighted to see that it was lifted in the first round of cleaning! Being able to see the steam at work was very cool. I watched as little tufts of steam puffed out from the front of the machine like the smokestack on the Little Engine That Could. I love that I can see the detergent and water being sucked up out of the carpet and upholstery so that I can see immediately that the machine is working. I am a big fan of the steam power function, and I think it does help to better clean surfaces when comparing results from this machine to others I have used in the past. I love the self-cleaning function, especially on the upholstery tool. This model certainly made me happy. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so a lot of what I need in any appliance is ease of use and cleaning as well as maneuverability. Though the Hydrosteam has some weight to it, I found it to be very easy to assemble and maneuver, and it was a breeze to clean. The nozzle, catch and clean tray, and accessory hose door were a bit more stiff to detach and reattach, yet still not prohibitive. Both the clean and dirty water tanks are so easy to place and remove. The clean water tank has a lid that stays open for easy filling and two fill guide lines, one for a small area and one for a large area. I found that filling to the "small area" line gives me the perfect amount of solution for those more frequent cleanings of high traffic areas like entryways and hallways. This highly maneuverable and easy to clean machine is very effective in cleaning both my carpet and an awful stain on my couch cushion left by my husband's coffee spill. I am very pleased with this Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam. I highly recommend to anyone who needs to use a carpet cleaner frequently, as the self-cleaning option, easy to clean parts, and seemless operation made the process almost effortless.
It's a glorified hand brush.
I'm not sure anything is being cleaned so much as it's being soaked in soap. It doesn't dry at all. Even the instructions say it can take up to 8 hours to dry because they know the cleaner isn't going to do it. The steam function is negligible and limited. The instructions say don't use the steam function on urine or blood. The two things that you would most want to steam treat and disinfect. The brushes pile up soap on the carpet since suction is awful and since it doesn't have a separate fresh water tank from soap, there's no cleaning that up without emptying the tank and coming back with clean water. I'm sure I'll be replacing molding or mildewed carpets in short order
Hi Joseph — we’re sorry to hear this has been such a frustrating experience. Longer drying times can happen if extra formula is used or if multiple passes are made, and using a few slow dry-only passes can help improve water pickup. We appreciate your feedback and would like to help troubleshoot or review proper setup and usage with you. Please reach out to BISSELL support at support.bissell.com so we can assist further.
Poor quality junk
Got this as a Christmas gift. We used it two total times. Both times it leaked the entire clean water tank out in minutes. It leaks even when it isn't on. Water just pours out of the bottom. Bissell support keeps telling me to check the tanks, both clean and dirty. It's not the tanks. It's not the caps, it's deeper into the machine and it makes this expensive unit so bad it actually causes more damage from water than stains it cleans.
We’re really sorry to hear about the leaking issues and how frustrating this experience has been, especially after such limited use. Water leaking when the machine isn’t running isn’t expected and we understand your concern about potential damage. Our BISSELL support team can help review repair or replacement options and take a closer look at what’s happening internally—please reach out at support.bissell.com. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Would not buy it again!
Thought that I would spend extra on a carpet cleaner to get the best. It does clean well but after turning it off and moving it to clean it. .it leaks...everywhere! Not happy!
Hi Debbie, we’re sorry to hear about the leaking—that’s definitely frustrating, especially after cleaning. This is often caused by the dirty water tank not being fully seated, the cap or gasket not sealed tightly, or moving the machine while the tank is still full, so we recommend emptying and checking those areas before moving it. If the issue continues, please reach out to BISSELL support at support.bissell.com or 1‑800‑237‑7691 so we can help make this right.
Pretty neat feature not seen elsewhere
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was related to see the steam feature after my five year old dropped her sandwich in the floor. Of course, it was a pbj, and the jelly got all over. The steam feature made easy work of the stain, removing all traces of stickiness. It was also helpful for an older gum mark. While it didn't get rid of it entirely, it took a good chunk out and removed the stickiness. It was super simple to clean. It comes with a tool to help get the gunk out of the vacuum piece. Pop out the compartments, give them a rinse, and pop them back in. Cleaning it entirely took less than five minutes total. It is heavy, but still easy to maneuver. I do very small sections at a time, and I had no difficulties keeping it where I wanted it
