I have mixed reviews for this product. I really wanted this ice machine because of the type of ice it makes. The ice is great, little nuggets! However the machine is extremely LOUD. I read some other reviews, and everyone seems to agree the sound of this machine is loud. I did try the hack of putting a magnet on the side of the machine, and it helped a little bit, but it's still too noisy. For the price of this ice maker ($$$) they need to do something to reduce the noise it makes.

This is a warranty replacement of my second failed Opal. We love the ice! We do not like the durability of the product. Our first ice maker quit working after 15 months; well past the 12 month warranty. GE would not give any discount on our second Opal. When it failed at exactly 12 months with a cracked ice auger, they sent us a replacement. It came without a new warranty, so if (when?) this one fails I am no longer a GE Opal owner.

[Employee of ge_appliances] My family and I love our Opal. There isn't another ice maker on the market that can compare. The side tank is an added bonus and allows for ample time between refills while always ensuring there is enough ice readily available.

This machine is nice, very easy to install, looks nice, doesn’t make a lot of noise. A little big because of the side tank which will come handy when you need to produce more ice. The ice nuggets are soft and chewy. I’m glad I purchased it.

My wife loves the soft nugget ice. The capacity works well for us. Very quiet and compact taking little of the countertop space which is always great. The instructions for installation were straight forward and simple.

Overall, it was a breeze to set the product up. From unpacking to cleaning to ice it was a total of 30-40 mins. Initially we are a happy customer. Looking forward to putting the ice machine to the test…

Thought the ice bin was a lot larger. It is kind of small. It will provide ice for about five people at a time. But it is convenient especially if your fridge does not make ice.

Great product. Very quiet and makes ice quickly. I have been wanting this for a while a this ice maker doesn’t disappoint. The soft pellet ice is a favorite.

I first discovered this nugget Ice maker at work. I fell so I love with it that I decided to get my own for my home. I enjoy the little nuggets that this ice maker produces. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! ❤️
