I have replaced my old, long serving GE microwave with another GE so, while I have not used it yet, I'm certain it will function just fine. Be aware that the plug sticks straight out rather than hang down at a 90 degree angle. Because it sticks straight out you will not be able to push the unit back as far as you may want to. I'd suggest GE change this in future products for ALL appliances.

I am not rating this microwave. I am rating the one that I had to replace after 19 MONTHS!!! The exact same model. The only reason I replaced it with the same model is because it fits my space. My average use on the previous one was 1/2 hour a day.. NINETEEN months and either the magnatron died or something else in the high‑voltage power section. That is simply unacceptable. When it was working, for that short period of time, t was great.

We bought this microwave as a replacement for an old GE microwave that had worn out. Maybe I should have checked first but I didn't realize that it lacks a mute feature! How is it possible in 2026 that GE sells new microwaves without the ability to mute the stupid annoying beep sound? That functionality can be implemented purely in software so it would cost them nothing. It's literally worse than the equivalent product from 15 years ago. GE is going backwards and letting their customers down.

So far the microwave has performed as expected. Our old microwave lasted a long time. I hope this one stands up to time as well as the old one did.

This is the 2nd time I have purchased this microwave. I bought one in-between and hated it. Came back to GE because it is easy to use, durable, does a great job, and I LOVE IT!!!

This appliance is loud. Especially when I press start for the first second or two. It's like an engine gunning up, then it quiets down a level. I hope the extra loud noise isn't an indication that there's something wrong with it. Otherwise, it's okay. I like the express cook feature. I mostly use the microwave to heat things and this appliance works fine for that. My previous microwave had a 13 1/2" plate, which was a good size for the type of things I heat, so I was pleased to find a microwave of this size, with the express cook option and in white.

This GE model GCST16S1W1SS exactly fit the built-in cabinet for our 10 year old Whirlpool microwave, and it even fit perfectly into the old trim panel and the support bracket. Even the holes on the bottom of the new microwave fit exactly into the holes on the old support bracket. It made switching out the old microwave a breeze! We are so glad this product was available. It functions just fine and the whole cost was so much less than other options.

It worked fine for four months then began a loud grinding noise on the turntable whenever product was used and seemed very unsafe to continue using. Also had concerns that the item appeared flimsy when opening and closing door compared to my previous Panasonic which had lasted 6+ years.

Standard three-prong, grounded wall plug that plugs straight in to the wall socket adds one to two inches to the depth measurement of the microwave oven. Suggest redesigning of the wall plug to the three-prong snub-nose type grounded plug to provide better fit of this microwave oven, closer to the wall or cubby-hole for counter top applications.

It's beautiful and works perfectly 😊 I can't live without this one of a kind speedy microwave…the GE1.6 cu ft countertop microwave oven is AMAZING AWESOME AND THE BEST!! I hope this one last longer than the one (won't name the brand) I had before, it actually blew up!! Y'all have a great day and YES, I would recommend this appliance 🩷
