Highly Disappointed

We assumed the key pad screen would light each individual key. No where in the instructions does it suggest this as a feature. A deep dive in the internet did not result in any suggestions as to whether or not this was a feature. Stupid us for making this assumption.

Perfect fit to replace an older built-in microwave

This GE model GCST16S1W1SS exactly fit the built-in cabinet for our 10 year old Whirlpool microwave, and it even fit perfectly into the old trim panel and the support bracket. Even the holes on the bottom of the new microwave fit exactly into the holes on the old support bracket. It made switching out the old microwave a breeze! We are so glad this product was available. It functions just fine and the whole cost was so much less than other options.

Nice Microwave

It seems well made, for example the door button and door hinges seem sturdy unlike other brands we considered. My only gripe is the keypad fonts are gray on a black background, not offering much contrast, so hard to see in low light. These fonts would be better if they were white.

HORRIBLE PIECE OF JUNK

WORST PURCHASE OF ANY KIND I EVER MADE. DIED 3RD DAY AFTER MINIMAL USE HEATING FOOD A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR FIVE MINUTES MAX AT 50% POWER. HAD TO DESTROY PACKING CARTON IN PROCESS OF EXTRICATING THIS GE COUNTERTOP MICROWAVE UNIT. REPLACED 16 YEAR OLD SEARS KENMORE MICROWAVE, WHICH LASTED OVER 5800 DAYS. GE EXECUTIVES DESERVE TO BURN IN HELL FOR MANUFACTURING AND SELLING GARBAGE LIKE THIS!!!!!

New microwave

I like this model; however, this same one that I bought 2 years ago had to be replaced because the magnetron failed. I bought that one from the same company and they recommended that I buy a new one. I think that having to buy a new one every 2 years is excessive but I like the brand and how it functions so I am willing to give it another try.

Turntable knocking and grinding.

I hadn't even used this microwave 2 months when the turntable started grinding and knocking. This is the reason I had to get rid of another microwave but that happened after I owned it for about 10 years. I really would like to have another microwave before this starts on fire or breaks down completely on

OK, but look elsewhere first.

With regard to all of the basics such as having capacity , heating, etc., this oven works just as it should and we have no complaints in that regard. But sadly it is not without some complaints. Unfortunately when we bought this they only had it in a box and ours had broken and we were in a hurry. First thing we encountered was the fact you might have to grab a flashlight or at least have a bright light in the room see your choices on the control panel! From what I read, it says it cost more to put a light in behind a display, but it may well be worth it because this is terrible i'm ready to throw this in the garbage simply because we can't see the display without bright lights on. And even then it's difficult. You would think they would at least make it with some contrasting colors in there. Secondly, the door shuts very hard. It's noisy. Irritating. I won't complain about the lock on the door because you can turn it off which I understand a lot, if not most, people do. But I still think it is a decent idea when there are children around. I just can't recommend this microwave. Granted my eyes aren't as young as they used to be but even our kids complain about not being able to see what they're doing on the microwave. I should have returned it at once but we just could not find another one and we needed it in a big hurry. This was not a good purchase and GE needs to really rethink their displays and look at them in people's houses and not just in bright Laboratories or warehouse areas. Do better GE! Buyers - if you cannot try all of the controls in the store, shop somewhere else. And yes, I should've taken my own advice first!

Replaces a GE Old Reliable

This GE is virtually identical to a GE Microwave I bought over 20 year ago and that is why I bought it. My 20 year old finally bit the dust, no power. I was used to the way the buttons worked and was pleased to see newer models are virtually identical. Plus I was impressed that an appliance I used daily lasted 20 years, so I believe GE earned the right for a second purchase and I hope I get another 20 years.

Hard to see

Hard to see

On the right front of the microwave appliance there are settings for time, cooking instructions, start, power levels, etc. My wife and I are unable to read them unless we use a flashlight -- they are too dim. We did not have this problem with the prior microwave. What can GE do to make them more legible? If nothing, we have no choice but to return the microwave because it is not useable. We should not have to continue to use a flashlight to operate the unit properly.
