I can tell it's working because there are fewer mosquitoes, especially in the afternoons. It's super easy to swap out the refill. There's no strong smells. They are worth it.

It's lot of rain as well as sunny day in my area so mosquitoes have been an issue for us, especially for my toddler who loves to play outside. I took off one star since this requires lots of steps to set up. But it's also good that they have a month system so we can keep track of when we need to change the filter. One can last for 1 month which is a good thing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mosquito Kill and Protect Starter Kit is a really easy way to reduce mosquitos. I like it. We have really bad mosquitoes in our back yard in North Carolina over the summer and it really makes it a bummer to go back there. Other types of mosquito repellants are either sprays that I don't want on my kids or require a charged battery or electricity. This kit is so easy. All you need is water and to set it out in your yard. Set it and forget it. It lasts for a month and then it just needs a refill strip. It covers over 4000 square feet so our entire yard is good to go. I would recommend it.

This system was so easy to use, and it actually worked. I'm excited to have this for the over the summer when it's hard to hang out in the backyard because of the mosquitoes. It's easy to move and didn't have an odor I noticed. I especially like how you don't batteries to use it. You just set it up and let it do its thing. I definitely recommend this system :)

We first placed it on the ground but quickly realized that with water in it, it will be too easy for our little child or dogs to tip it over. We moved it further away from the sitting area but that, I think, made it less useful because of the distance between the sitting area and where the product was located. Visually, the product is esthetically pleasing. However, the smell is strong and, too me, it makes it uncomfortable to be around it. We also didn't see much change with the amount of mosquitos flying around. Considering we have small child and pets and the product contains liquid and the container can be easily tipped over, and the fact that we didn't see a change in the number of mosquitos flying around, I would most likely skip purchasing this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've using Ortho Home Defense Mosquito Kill and Prevent for several weeks now, and I'll admit - it's actually fun to set up. The design is simple, and it feels satisfying to put everything in place. The only reason I took off a star is because I'm not totally sure it's reducing mosquitoes yet. It seems to help a little, but I haven't seen a dramatic difference. I'm hoping it just needs more time to kick in. Still, it's easy to use, good quality and worth trying if you want something low effort for mosquito control.

I placed it on our patio at our restaurant that we own and it has prevented pesky mosquitoes from ruining our customers meals. I like that is easy to use and that it safe without any toxic chemicals. The container is easy to maintain and change out refill pads while still keeping a safe and clean environment. The starter kit is a great value and comes with a refill.

It would be nice to not need to put it in the shade. It seems to attract some mosquitoes and lower the population but it does require upkeep. It also does take about 10 days to start working an and requires every 30 day filter replacement. Worth it? Maybe. But spraying the yard works faster and well, too.

Finding a place to put it was a little harder as we feed the strays and raccoons. I found a place that was in the shade and under something to make it a little harder for them to get to. As for working. Hard to tell. The husband smokes and sits outside every day. He said it does seem like there have been less mosquitoes. However we aren't sure if this is from the drought and slightly cooler spring that Florida has been having or a combo of the 2. I have noticed less when I go to feed the strays. I have had to add water weekly but easy to do so. We will continue to use and see if we continue to get results.

I placed it in a shaded area of my garden, and the effectiveness has been remarkable; I've seen great results with a significant decrease in mosquitoes, allowing me to enjoy my patio much more.
