I also had some bad experiences with eating products with pea protein, where it overwhelms the other ingredients. So I was pleasantly surprised when eating this, I don't really taste any of the pea. If I was eating this without knowing what was in it, I'd probably assume it's just a regular box of macaroni and cheese. The flavoring is no different than the other Kraft Mac & Cheese products. I think this works well as a quick meal with things like sausages and green beans. If I were to see this in a store, I might be willing to pick up a box or two to have on hand for days I feel too lazy to cook anything from scratch.

Like most protein pastas, the noodles were a little chewy, but I don't mind that and neither did my four-year-old. The cheese sauce, however, was very bland but after a little bit of seasoning/doctoring, it turned out pretty tasty and my daughter asked for seconds. The white cheddar version has much more flavor.

My only complaint was that the boxes for flavors are too similar. I didn't even realize they were different and cooked them together which wasn't the end of the world but would've been better separated. The family loved it!
