Greasy
I loved dawn dish soap, last couple of years I've noticed it doesn't clean the way it use too. I've tried all the different dawns, my dishes come out greasy. I've even boiled water, used more soap, and I get greasy. Don't know what has changed, now I'm looking for something else.

We'd like to mention that hard water, which contains a lot of dissolved minerals, is the number one cause of reduced effectiveness. If you live in a hard-water area, you may need to use more dishwashing liquid. Another cause of dishwashing liquid not cleaning effectively is the water temperature being too low. I might become a former Dawn user
I own a bakery, washing buttercream off of bowls, piping tips, and spoons all day everyday. I swore by Dawn dish soap to get everything clean and free from grease. Other recipes in my bakery won’t wok if there is grease present so I’m extra sensitive. Also, I feel if I still feel grease there is a chance peanut oils are still present too, now creating a harmful situation for customers with allergies. About a month ago I felt nothing was getting clean both in my personal kitchen as well as in bakery. Dawn has failed me. My SIL told me to get Dawn power wash and I did and it’s great. However I feel it’s the same result I used to get from one product. Everything is so expensive and using two products to get the results I used to get from one has this baker/cook super frustrated.
We're sorry to learn you've had this experience, as there's not been a formula change for Dawn Platinum with Fresh Rain Scent. Yes, we've moved on from the "Refreshing" name, but kept the Fresh - this was the only recent change for this dish soap. Dishes that are very greasy or dirty tend to need more water changes/dish soap, as grease can be tough to fully break down. These usually come in small bottles but I can say that I probably wouldn't use anything else on my dishes. It cleans super well, doesn't leave a greasy film on the plates. I just really like this dishwashing liquid. I love also that dawn helps animals caught in oil spills.
Terrible new fragrance for dishes
I am so sorry I never write poor reviews, but I'm disappointed that I've heard the original scent is going to be discontinued. If I'm wrong about it being discontinued I will update my review. I have been a lifelong user of Dawn Dish Soap, 45 yrs plus. The main reason I stuck to this brand was the original left almost no smell, and as a kid it was advertised as good for the birds during oil spill cleanup, so a better more natural way to clean. When you ate food off dishes the food smelled like food. This new version leaves a smell on my dishes and hands, now when I eat my food all I smell is the fragrance. I guess I'll be sticking with it's expensive alternative of apple, which has less of a lingering perfume smell. Or I may need to find a new dish soap. Really hoping they change their mind and continue to carry the original version too.

We wouldn't expect it to impart the taste of the product into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. This is my favorite dish washing liquid. I love the fresh rain smell and it always does the job even on the worst dishes. It's also really good for cleaning oily or greasy pans without leaving any residue behind. I would definitely recommend this dish liquid.
Not good for sensitive skin!
I have very sensitive skin, and after using this once to clean my makeup sponges I am able to feel the irritation on the skin of my hands. And, oddly, even though it is supposed to have 4x the power, it didn't seem to clean my sponges as well as regular Dawn. I love Dawn and use it for many purposes, but I will not be buying the Platinum again ---- and please don't send it to anyone to be used for washing birds!

This new "Refreshing Rain" scent is horrid
This scent is absolutely horrible. Very strong overpowering floral scent that instantly triggers a headache and makes me nauseous. If I could give it negative stars I would. I didnt notice the scent had changed. The bottle looks the samw as the mornin mist scent that is mild and does not bother me. It looks like that scent is no longer available & this obnoxious floral scent was the replacement. The soap itself works great but I will never buy this again due to the horrid smell.

Sadly we do confirm that the Morning Mist fragrance has been discontinued, however, our Safety Team does assure us that, when used as directed, Fresh Rain, the new name for Refreshing Rain, is safe for use. We never expect to learn that anyone has an experience such as you've described, and we do apologize for this experience. Gets the job done, without a lot of work.
I really like Dawn Platinum. It has a ver pleasant scent. Not a strong one at all. I love how it foams and the bubbles last a pretty long time. It good with getting greasy items clean. No greasy feeling after washing . I would recommend giving it a try.
Clean Scent??? No thank you!
We bought a large bottle of our favorite dish soap, it’s a staple in our household and is used for multiple needs. I opened up the new bottle and did some dishes, and thought that’s an odd scent… didn’t think much of it thinking it was something else that wafted up like the dead roses I’d thrown out earlier. Next day after the trash was taken out… I was washing up the kitchen and the scent hit me again and this time it made me nauseous…. I told my husband that I hate the smell of the soap and asked if they changed it. I looked at the bottle and sure enough, new “clean scent” was printed right there. It’s awful, he hates it, I hate it and dishes are certainly a chore now. There is something triggering about it, nausea and headaches. Just awful! Please please please change it back! I never ever write reviews, but this was a must.

You can never go wrong with Dawn. They got me with their original Dawn scent that cleans oil off animals gently. Now they blow me away with ultra platinum refreshing Dawn dish soap. It smells great, makes grime slide off, and doesnt leave that weird film other brands can leave behind.
