I'm retired, and I've done taxes for 45 years. Unfortunately the tax rules change yearly now. There is no way I could keep up with it. Turbo Tax has the latest information and rules , and walks you through the state and the federal return. It took me 2 hours even. Not bad! The fees were on par with doing it other ways.

Rip off service forces you to pay use $139 service for a $1 1099 Misc form, and will not allow the form to be updated with our upgrading. They push live service upgrades and other non beneficial addons for a premium every other screen. No longer is this service user friendly interface nor ease of use of their yesterday years

Good experience but ridiculously overpriced. They charge you at every step of the filling process. They show the charge after you spent hours filling your information. You are hired and getting charged to make your own taxes. Not just a free employee but a paying employee.

TurboTax really helped us get the most deductions possible on our 2024 returns. My taxes are pretty simple, but my wife does contract work and receives multiple 1099-NEC forms. TurboTax allows you to combine all the 1099's into one overall group and then list and deduct the expenses for the entire group. It is very clean and makes more sense than trying to list the expenses for each 1099. It also calculates tax credits for her business as well as ACA and HSA health care deductions that many contractors use.

Well, after you finish your taxes and about to file, they lock you on a page to share your data and there is not way to press next unless you accept them. They word it like "We need couple more things from you" and lock you there. Once you consent, there is also no option to remove your consent. This is scummy especially when I am paying turbotax > $200 for a service that is easily available elsewhere. This is the last year I file with turbotax. This is a new low and unprofessional. For those who reach that page, you can just press on the left screen file to skip that section, this will allow you to file without consenting to sharing your data. I realized that a bit too late.

I like that it's easy to use. You can see all of the amounts broken down. What I don't like is how they attempt to hide certain things and are generally deceptive. For example, When I chose the option to have my TurboTax fee deducted from my return, on that page it did not say it would cost $40. It told me the cost on the next page, and it wasn't very clear. Many people just continue from there and get charged without realizing why. Also, when TurboTax asked me to enter my drivers license to fight fraud, there was no decline option until the next page. Also, I keep getting asked to upgrade to Max when I already declined once. Of course, these practices are intentional so they can charge you more and collect your information.

I hate it. I've hated it every year and I hate it more each passing year. I have used TurboTax for probably 10 or more years and I suppose it is sufficient. (In fact it has gotten easier to use) But the fact that the tax code is so complex and confusing makes the additional fact that you charge for advice even more sinister. I think individual advice should be INCLUDED in your basic fee. I mean, if I make a mistake, I'm just going to say that I did exactly what TurboTax told me to do. I am pretty sure that's what most of the other filers on here would do. So you're kind of on the hook anyway. I mean honestly, you could have AI do most of the work anyway, with humans only answering the most difficult questions. By the way, the "AI" that is included with TurboTax is terrible. My browser AI answered more of my tax questions.

Overall the product is good, but there are things that are still so confusing. I can't believe these issues haven't been resolved considering the ridiculous amount of money I have to pay to file each year... if I had another option to file that was better, I absolutely would use it over this. Especially when y'all ask me to check old returns and confirm the value -- there should be links to the old returns and there should be explanations. It's all very confusing. It's also such a bad experience the "auto import". It really didn't work for much of anything for me, even when I waited for the advertised date. Frustrating

I love TurboTax. It isn't free, but they really walk you through every scenario. I have 100% confidence that I'm getting my maximum benefit, and that my taxes are done correctly, because the system is so thorough. It makes some which could be so much harder simple.

I have used Turbo for a number of years and I will most likely continue to use it. However you continue to charge the look and feel of the product. The entry for income from investments from the previous year makes is confusing when you down load the current year. Give me a button to clear all of last years before I load this years. Please do not make changes just to make changes.
