Turbo Tax Ups and Downs

Bad:I had a hard time logging in this morning, It took me over an hour. You did not recognize some of my financial institutions: American Express National Bank and Truist Bank. However, it was easy for me to enter the income from these banks myself. I forgot to enter my wife's US interest in Vanguard dividends. I could not get back to the page where I could do this. However, I was able to make an entry for this on a Virginia page. Good: you made it much easierthis year to review my final returns just before filing.

A bit strager than previous years...

There were a few quirks this time. When importing from Ally bank, it put in the interest from various accounts in separately then again as an aggregate. This counted it twice. I manually deleted the duplicate, then a week later it reappeared and I deleted it again. I also received a message that I need to upgrade to Premium because of my situation. "To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade to TurboTax Premium". I did, but it didn't seem to change anything. Was an extra form filed? Wondering if I was fleeced out of an extra 50$? Online forums had inconsistent advice.

Love using TurboTax, cant stop wont stop!

Was able to file taxes easily for my two income household w/ a small side business and a few kids.. not an overly complicated tax scenario, but Turbo Tax makes it easy to fill out all the forms on my own, has lots of intuitive tool tip icons to click throughout the process when you have a question, and on the few rare occasions when there wasnt enough detail on the basic version, the tool tips had plenty of information that I could clearly ask a question on google and get back a clear answer to my question.

It works for me

After using Turbo Tax for a number of years, I thought I would try to file with a cheaper well known alternative. The alternative had a glitch in it so I got frustrated and sent that company a message about the glitch and that I was going back to Turbo Tax. And here I am. It worked. I just wish it was a little more affordable.

Easy to use and very efficient

I prefer filing taxes myself so that I can pull together all of the documents I need. When I did use to use a tax professional it took more time because I had to gather everything, label it and leave the house. To be able to do a great job on my own at home makes it completely worthwhile. Turbo Tax is easy to use and gets better each year!

Hidden required fees at end not disclosed upfront

I was had to pay an extra $60 to increase my service option to record a capital loss. I have had gains and never had to pay extra. Feel like this was wrong and gouging at a tax situation. If I was presented with this earlier in the filing process, I likely would have stopped and gone to a different tax preparation service. I feel it was hidden and waited until the end to be disclosed when that portion of the preparation was handled much earlier. It shows very questionable practices in being clear in pricing. I will let others know my disdain for hiding of fees until the end.

Turbo Taxes is not upfront with their fees.......

I found the process hard to maneuver. I think it is a crying shame that Turbo Tax and Intuit charge senior citizens so much to do our taxes on-line. Show these charges up front instead of the end when I have struggled to complete all the tasks. I was anger when you forced the $89.00 and $40.00 on me to complete filing my taxes. Tell me up front...........

Yet Another Easy Filing

Yet another, consistent, relatively fast and easy filing this year! Always a minor complication regarding stock trades, but still considerably more accurate with imported data from investment firm. TurboTax puts the initial information into the right places, then the minor complication is wading through the financial institution's report to fill in the rest. Turbo Tax has just enough helpful notes here and there to point the way.

sucks

doesnt save prior year info so I have to re type everything. And go to the IRS page to find my prior year return. Plus, I have a little tax background and when i called the support to clear up confusion, I knew enough to know that the advice he gave me would either get my return rejected at the least or get my in legal trouble at the most.

Great Tax Software / Questionable Payment Tactics

I have used Turbo Tax Online for many years and appreciate the ease and increased capabilities for filing my taxes. However, for the 2nd year in a row (apparently I didn't learn my lesson from last year), I have entered all my tax information and get ready to finalize and submit my taxes when I discover that I have some Premium or Live Advice option that CANNOT be downgraded and I am forced to Clear and Start Over so I don't pay for options I did not use. I would be fine if this were a blatant error on my part, but starting over I found that even just finding the option to turn off Live Advice was not straightforward at all and actually hidden from view when using a standard laptop screen. Why are you afraid of being upfront? If Turbo Tax executive leadership met and agreed this is the way to treat their customers, they should not be proud. I question whether I will continue to use Turbo Tax if I have to be wary of my selections for fear of being penalized at the end.
