Turbo Tax really is easy and almost idiot proof. Even if you have slightly more complicated deductions. The saving of previous years returns makes things even easier. Outside of someone with a ton of businesses or complicated sources of income and high net worth, not sure why you would use an accountant.

I had a very bad experience this year with Turbo tax. They had a system problem and i had to call every day for 5 days because it let me sign and submit my taxes. I stayed on the line over a hour trying to get someone to help me submit them. Everyone kept taking me through the same steps when i kept asking for a transfer to someone with more experience. I finally got it through on day 6 of stress and hours on the phone

This site has so many hidden fees its terrible. I wish prices were upfront. The make you go through processes and then tell you the fee. Then charge you another processing fee. The website had to be reloaded 100 times which made the process over 3 hours.

TurboTax seems a bit cumbersome this year. Especially for SC State tax return. To fill out the form for a specific credit (form not available on TurboTax) I need to add the state tax liability before taking the credit. But TurboTax won't let me access that information until after I've paid for the return to be filed! So then, I have to go back and re-do the SC tax forms to add in the credit.

I LOVED the refund tracker that used to be at the top of the screen. They took it away because they said they were getting too many questions from people with partially done taxes. Why not have the default be that it is turned off and, for those who like it, make the user go in to settings to turn it on?

Overall process is pretty straight forward and easy with guides that will explain questions you may have along the way. That said the only reason i gave a 4 star review vs a 5 is the constant popups to upgrade to a paid tier, while i understand they need to make money as a business it is still quite frustrating.

I realized I did not file taxes in North Carolina for 2023 and I reached out to a live agent called Michelle, who called and walked me through the entire process of amending my return. She was extremely patient and super helpful. I literally want to meet her!!! Best customer services I have ever had.

Turbo Tax walks you through the creation of your tax return in a simplified manner. There are bubbles marked with a question that, when clicked, offer deeper explanation of whichever item you are working on. If you accidently create an error, Turbo Tax will let you know and will walk you through a correction. Very easy for the average person.

I like turbo tax but it feels predatory at some points. The $40 fee for paying with your federal returns money seems a bit pricey. Not only is it pricey, its not initially said to cost anything and by the time you get to the end of filing it's difficult to change. I know turbo tax is a paid service but it feels like they are really trying to milk you for every penny they can get from you.

3 of 4 specialists were EXCELLENT. This backup expertise is very important to me (used Turbo Tax for about 15 years). Only dissatisfaction is a required entry on the 1099-R forms that asks you for the total amount of RMD for that particular 1099. EXTREMELY CONFUSING and I don't feel that it was needed>
