Easy enough seems all situations covered

Turbotax is great at covering all the scenarios and guiding you all the way. There was an issue in the mobile app .. it kept correcting my address. When I added apt num in the apt num box it showed me the standard format upon choosing of which it would disappear it after saving. The web version didnt have this issue. Also, it would help if you could always go into whatever step you want to jump anytime in the phone otherwise you'd have to close the app and start again if you want to move midway. Overall a great product.

Been using TurboTax 5 years

TurboTax is great. I have used them to do my own taxes the last five years. It's cheap and there are free live advisors if help is needed at anytime. They also have a paid tier if your uncomfortable with doing your taxes yourself, but I seriously recommend giving it a try. Even the free tier is double checked for errors free of charge.

Turbotax is an awesome parasite!

The american tax system is broken. Companies like this are a poor tax on those who dont have the time or money for a real accountant. The IRS already knows exactly how much income I have, they can tell me what I owe. Instead we have parasitic companies like turbotax as middlemen to suck even more money from me just to stay legal.

Disappointed

Not as easy to use as last year and previous years. We have used the Deluxe version, which we did again this year and paid $88.24 on March 4th for the download. We also enrolled in the Advantage plan. In the past, we were allowed to file free of charge. This year, when we got ready to file it said there was a charge of $129 to file and it showed we were using the Premium version. Could not get an answer as to why either of these changes occurred. Since we could not find out why we had to pay for the filing, we went ahead and filed it. We were charged $142.29 on March 13th, for a total of $230.53. Not sure we will go this route next year.

So Simple for Personal and Self Employed Business

Weve used Turbo Tax for years. We have used it to file our personal taxes and our Self Employment taxes for our two businesses - They make the process so simple and easy to understand! We will continue to use Turbo Tax for the upcoming years as well

So Easy

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and have found it to be so easy to use. It is easier than driving to a tax preparer and paying much more money. I have everything ready to go so why pay someone else to plug in numbers to their computer when I can do it myself. I choose to have the support for a little more in case I do get audited.

A Scam

Not very helpful, couldn't import docs. Tooltips were not useful. The fact that this costs money is criminal. The software itself is mostly straightforward, but navigation feels a little circular and mazelike at times. A little insane that turbotax can lobby the government to stop americans for filing for free, but what are we to do.

Smooth to use, but hidden costs and pushy

Don't keep asking me 18 times during the process to upgrade the service. I said no once. I'm not going to change my mind. It's disruptive to what I'm trying to do. Either keep a static button on the page I can use to upgrade at will, or ask once and then don't ask again. Hassling me throughout isn't going to make me more likely to want the enhanced product. Also, a little more transparency in costs would be welcome. I thought I was paying $89 for the service. Then I get to the end and there's a $40 to direct deposit my refund...and somehow 89 plus 40 adds up to a total fee of 168 paid to TurboTax? I don't know what else I paid for.

TurboTax had trouble importing my data

The SW was not able to import my W2 information from my employer so I had to manually enter all my information. SW was also not able to import my tax documents from my bank AFTER I had already entered ALL my banking information into TurboTax. This is super sketchy and makes me not trust the TurboTax SW. Now you have my banking information but I was not able to take advantage of the connected services.

HSA contributions for California are wrong

Good enough. HSA contributions for California can be handled better. While W2 does not distinguish between employer and employee contributions, this information is usually found on a paycheck. Turbotax can ask an additional question for California returns instead of flatly stating that California does not allow deduction for HSA contributions made by employer. Shame, given that Intuit is a California company.
