Last year was easy. This year I don’t know if it was me or the platform but it would lag and then I would lose where I was supposed to be. Hopefully everything was done correctly. I tried to recheck it a couple of times. Looked good. But when I would open it back up again it would have me reviewing something that said I never started even though I had already gone through everything.

TurboTax is a good product for self-filing of taxes. Its logical flow of sections in line with the Tax Forms, interactive entry in Q and A form, contextual online help make TurboTax easy to pull/enter/review/revise the tax information, and file the returns online. Improvement suggestion: Since foreign companies do not have US Federal ID, Intuit need to find a solution for entering Payer's Federal ID Number for foreign Interest/Dividend income. For example, first 2 characters of the ID (xx-xxxxxxxx) could be FE (foreign entity). Users are spending considerable time to find a workaround for themselves and in the forums.

I will not be using Turbo Tax next year. I have received approximately the same amount in tax refunds over the past 5 years. I feel Turbo Tax is limiting my ability to get more money. Additionally, I am not being offered a cash advance this year in which I did last year.

Ever increasing prices CONSTANTLY asking to upgrade to additional services Deceptively tries to request access to additional information to be used internally + sold to 3rd parties under the implication that it is required. Less literate users probably accept blindly.

There is an error in how turbo tax treats 1099Q when withdrawn experiences are fully qualified for higher ed expenses. Beneficiaries do NOT have to pay tax on 529 interest earnings as long as the earnings are used for qualified higher ed expenses. That is the whole point of the 529!!!! Was very annoying!

It seems every year when doing my taxes I keep getting prompted to upgrade versions. The whole tax filing process is pretty easy and straightforward and I'd give 5 stars for that service alone. But overall when trying to go thru each section the constant screens trying to suggest and upgrade is beyond annoying. And it never fails that you can't file your taxes using the last year's version but you have to upgrade to another tier because the previous tier is no longer compatible to your tax situation. This will be the last year using TurboTax for filing my taxes.

Very buggy. It kept looping through the self employment section and wouldn't complete. It also hung and spun when adding 1099-INTs and 1099-Rs. Had to reboot to stop it from hanging. Eventually got everything entered, but the self employment section continued to say Review Needed after everything was entered properly. Fortunately it did not block the final filing. This does not instill confidence and it took triple the time it should have. Only reason its not one star is that I was able to get Support on the phone without any delays.

TurboTax is extremely overpriced for the service it charges. For some reason adding a single extra type of form increases the cost from $0 to over $120 even though the whole process is still automated. And they ask to simply take the money out of your refund which they say is easier but if you do that sneakily try to charge a $40 fee.

I have used TurboTax for years, but this new software is awful. There were times when I couldn’t go in to edit things and I had to get out of it and come back in it. It didn’t Automatically asked me for Social Security income. I had to search for it. No longer keeps tabs while you’re going through the forms as to what your. anticipated refund or The amount due is. Paying $80 is definitely not worth it and it will be the last year that I use TurboTax. It is no longer user friendly.

Turbotax has reliably gotten the job done for me for 15 years, bringing over my information for over the past decade has sped up tax prep exponentially for me! I shudder to think of not having Turbotax at this point! With investments in stocks, options, and other less common items I've had to pay for premium for the last several years but even with this the ease that Turbotax allows makes me feel the 100$ is worth it.
