Worse than the pushy used car salesman

They required me to purchase an additional $89 package to file and did not mention it until one of the last steps because I had about 100 dollars in dividend payments and an $81 carryover from capital losses last year. They also shove their products in your face multiple times even if you click "no" on them each time

A Good Tool for Self Tax Preparers.

It seemed a bit different this year with the process, but I was able to calm down and figure out the issues with the return and correct them. The product is still very good, but usually it doesn't ask for payment until all is completed , but it asked for and took the payment before completion and then the issues of revisiting popped up, (that was different) and I had to go back again and again to find and resolve the issue (that never happened before) because the system already took the payment and I had to find the errors. Thank God He helped me figure it out.

Great and easy. DON'T fall for the processing fee!

It's easy to use and it's simple enough to do it quickly. The $40 processing fee that I almost fell for is ridiculous and I can't believe that you are trying to rip people off by that much when we're all already struggling. It's robbery. This $40 fee wasn't there the last time I used this so I'm glad I opted out and just paid for the service upfront. There has to be another way for you to pay using your refund without this enormous processing fee because in the past it didn't even exist...

Disappointed

I have been using Turbo Tax for years on the same computer. I liked how it would take information from previous years to populate the current year's tax forms. It didn't do that this year. Why not? BTW, I used the same computer I have been using.

Not sure what I'm paying for.

Nickel and dime for a service we shouldn't need. I also filed my 2023 taxes with TurboTax - I have the Email confirmations and everything. But turbo tax didn't save ANY of my filing information from 2023. This needlessly complicated the filing process for my 2024 taxes. It does not make me feel like Intuit is a good steward of my sensitive information, and it makes me wonder what I'm even paying for. If TurboTax cannot save information from my previous years' filings, what makes them preferable to a free filing service? $89 is too much money for a sub-par service.

TURBO TAX is our FRIEND!

Very Userfriendly. We file with basic W2, Self Employment Income, 1099 & IRA contributions quite easily and efficiently with the guided help of TT online. Weve done this 2 years in a row with great success and at a fraction of the cost of an accountant that usually took months to file our taxes and get a refund return!

Misleading Upgrades Required/Longer Expected Times

I was initially excited about how easy it was to file my taxes this year, especially since I had filed previously and all my information was already on file. The process felt smooth at first, but my experience took a frustrating turn. Despite declining the upgrade to Premium multiple times, I was ultimately forced to upgrade at the very end—something that should have been made clear much earlier in the process. Instead of knowing upfront that an upgrade was required, I went through the entire filing process only to be hit with the mandatory upgrade at the final step, which felt misleading and frustrating. On top of that, the estimated time for completion was far shorter than the actual time it took, which only added to my frustration. While I’m relieved that my taxes are finally done, I can’t help but feel that TurboTax could be more transparent about pricing requirements from the start. It would make for a much more honest and stress-free experience.

Getting Worse in Recent Years

Turbotax quality has decreased for tax years 2022, 2023, and 2024. I have used Turbotax exclusively for 13+ years, and only in recent years I have been getting more 'errors' on TurboTax reviews flagging errors on items TurboTax specifically had me fill out that way. The self-employment module is quite complicated and does not explain where some pre-populated numbers come from (they don't add up...). Although I really appreciate being able to efile and not fill out the actual forms myself, I'm increasingly disappointed each year with TurboTax.

TurboTax is just an okay option!

Sometimes TurboTax explains things well for the non-accounting person but sometimes they don't even include an info section when asking for information. I also don't appreciate how "sneaky" the pricing is - they keep trying to upsell me and only show extra/required fees after I've spent all my time putting together the return.

Q&A did not work

The software did what it said it would for the most part. The frustratinig part is there are lots of little question marks you can hover over or click on but they dont give you any specific information. It just opens a general Q&A box on the right side of the screen and even when you type in the question, it does not give you the infromation on that questions.
