I feel the self employment section was not clear on some areas of where to deduct items which caused me to take the standard business deduction. I also had problems with getting a verification code at the end to download my return and to submit payment to the IRS. I never could get a code sent to my e-mail as instructed. I had to change my e-mail at the suggestion of the very nice support person. i will elaborate more in the support person evaluation.

Absolutely love, love, love TurboTax, been using this program for about 10 years now and I haven't been let down once. They're super simplified and efficient. Anyone at all could access this tax program and file and submit with ease and comfort knowing that you're taken care of! They won't let you submit with any errors so you're able to get your taxes done in a quick and easy manner with complete confidence and control using the program at your discretion. I'll never switch tax programs as long as I'm breathing. :)

i have used the desktop app version of TurboTax since 2004. This is the first year I have used the online version. Here are some gripes about online version compared with desktop app. 1. No way (that I could find) to provide the online app with my 2023 TurboTax data file, which would have made the transition to online far easier. One thing I really loved about the desktop app was how much of the background info go carried forward each year. Suggest you ask "new users" of the online app if they used desktop TurboTax last year and give them an option to upload the TurboTax data file. 2. No way (that I could find) to have my Virginia state refund credited to my 2025 prepayments (I could do that with desktop app) 3. I had to hunt around to find the "addition" for adding estimated tax payments to my Federal and State returns. Same with adding in last year's refunds applied to this year. 4. For the 1099-B proceeds from Broker (Vanguard Brokerage Services) Transactions, I had to go over the entry several times to get the Date Acquired information entered correctly. The options menu provided for entering this info when it is not provided by the Financial Institution (Vanguard just entered it as "N/A") was opaque as to which option to use so that my self-entered Date Acquired would be used to calculate that this was a Long-Term sale. I finally got it to work, but it wasn't easy. 5. The desktop app makes it easy to switch to "Forms View" so I could check how the entries were going as I worked through the "Step by Step View". With the online app, I didn't find a way to do this until all parts of the Step by Step process had been completed.

Delays in being able to process my return were frustrating. When I finished my return the price was $89 with a $40 fee if I wanted to use my return! Then when I didn't finalize then and there, the price jumped to $99 after a few days! This is getting ridiculously expensive just to file 2 W-2s and 1 1098-T form!

Used Turbo Tax online for the first time. Had been downloading and running it from my PC. Overall very easy to use. They provided a wide range of financial institutions to import data from. Only issues: I would like it to be easier to navigate between form questions and the actual forms. A bit confusing filling out 1099-B for non-covered shares because turbo tax had a round about way to enter the cost basis for non-covered shares.

Used for several years. Prices have gone up, but never been unreasonable and usually cheaper than in person filers. It's nice to live in a day and age when you can do your taxes in 40 minuet's' to an hour from the comfort of your own home while enjoying your lunch and listening to music.

Two unexpected hickups. (1) I selected direct debit option for Amending Delaware state tax and could not get back to it to change my selection (2) Stuck in loop to enter reason for amending my IRS 1040. Software would come back and display an action to do. I finally clicked "Continue" to bypass it..

I was upsold about 50 times during the process. Because I made $1000 worth of trades on Robinhood, turbotax got to charge me an extra $130. In most major civilized countries the government completes the form for you and you just review and submit. Turbotax and the other preparers lobby our government to prevent this change from happening because it's most of their business. What a scam.

Its expensive for what other companies are now charging for free. This will be my last year filing with turbo tax. Due to life issues, its most convenient to file with them due to having used them previously but I will probably go with a competitor from now on.
