TurboTax is the BEST

Absolutely love, love, love TurboTax, been using this program for about 10 years now and I haven't been let down once. They're super simplified and efficient. Anyone at all could access this tax program and file and submit with ease and comfort knowing that you're taken care of! They won't let you submit with any errors so you're able to get your taxes done in a quick and easy manner with complete confidence and control using the program at your discretion. I'll never switch tax programs as long as I'm breathing. :)

Online app not as great as Desktop TurboTax

i have used the desktop app version of TurboTax since 2004. This is the first year I have used the online version. Here are some gripes about online version compared with desktop app. 1. No way (that I could find) to provide the online app with my 2023 TurboTax data file, which would have made the transition to online far easier. One thing I really loved about the desktop app was how much of the background info go carried forward each year. Suggest you ask "new users" of the online app if they used desktop TurboTax last year and give them an option to upload the TurboTax data file. 2. No way (that I could find) to have my Virginia state refund credited to my 2025 prepayments (I could do that with desktop app) 3. I had to hunt around to find the "addition" for adding estimated tax payments to my Federal and State returns. Same with adding in last year's refunds applied to this year. 4. For the 1099-B proceeds from Broker (Vanguard Brokerage Services) Transactions, I had to go over the entry several times to get the Date Acquired information entered correctly. The options menu provided for entering this info when it is not provided by the Financial Institution (Vanguard just entered it as "N/A") was opaque as to which option to use so that my self-entered Date Acquired would be used to calculate that this was a Long-Term sale. I finally got it to work, but it wasn't easy. 5. The desktop app makes it easy to switch to "Forms View" so I could check how the entries were going as I worked through the "Step by Step View". With the online app, I didn't find a way to do this until all parts of the Step by Step process had been completed.

This is becoming an overpriced scam!

Delays in being able to process my return were frustrating. When I finished my return the price was $89 with a $40 fee if I wanted to use my return! Then when I didn't finalize then and there, the price jumped to $99 after a few days! This is getting ridiculously expensive just to file 2 W-2s and 1 1098-T form!

The marketing add on services are a bit much,

its become a bit cumbersome to use your software and you keep pushing your marketing add-ons which is becoming way too old. I was asked at least 6 or 7 times throughout processing my return if I wanted to add on additional services like "MAX" and other stuff. stop pushing so hard for extra services,, it gets old after a while!!!!!!!!!!!!

TurboTax Fan for Life!

I love this application. The only difficulties that I had this year was with importing the 1099 documents and reviewing my initial wizard set up responses. So, I had to manually enter some of the data in the app which was no big deal. Some of the wizard questions that I answered when I started entering data into the application didn't seem to be accessible or available for the final review of the 1040 (e.g., questions related to healthcare coverage). I felt like I might have possibly had an error buried in the return, but I wasn't effectively able to use the FAQ to find how I responded to those initial healthcare profile questions. I would say that both issues were partly related to me being impatient with the document import and data entry process. Overall, a very positive user and customer experience. Keep up the great work!

I Love The New TurboTax But Some Might Not Get It

I really like this, but it takes some getting used to. Next year, I will move a lot more efficiently. Some trouble with a stray extra 1099, finding a way to delete such things might prove difficult for some users. I know a lot of elderly people who'd be lost, using this program.

Turbo Tax is the BEST

Turbo Tax has helped me do my taxes for multiple years in a row. I have tried other free services online, but none are as user friendly as Turbo Tax. I am so thankful to be able to save money and do it myself online with their help when needed! It is also a blessing to have MAX where they will help in case of an audit.

Turbotax software resulted in incorrectable errors

There were multiple errors during 'Check' of federal tax return. These had to do with incorrect state and zipcode entries in Schedule-B, 1099-DIV and 1099-INT. Although I entered my address correctly, those weren't captured properly in the tool generated forms and resulted in these 'Check' errors that couldn't be fixed. I had to delete both 1099-DIV and 1099-INT sections (that were done through uploading 1099 PDF) and manually re-enter all of those details for the 'Check' errors to go away. Turbotax software was a huge inconvenience.

Disappointment

I find using turbo tax very frustrating. The questions are nice to walk you through the return, but in some cases they lump too many things into one category. Specifically Pension income and the Required Minimum Distribution. The lump defined benefit plans into the same category as 401k's and run through these crazy RMD questions that aren't relevant for a defined benefit plan. Was a nightmare trying to get through that. Similar to depreciation. I have a depreciation schedule that my accountant used for years and all the goofy questions from turbo tax and they didn't calculate it right. There should be a way to opt out of the questions and enter your data. This was a 3 hour nightmare.
