More into up-sells than ever before

I've used TurboTax to file taxes for the last 15 years. It was always a good stable product. Definitely over the last several years I've noticed a dramatic increase in the number of attempts to upsell or re-direct the consumer to something other than what they intend. Definitely gets frustrating when simply trying to navigate through the process and get to the next screen. Curious with the system now tracking how much time is spent filing taxes, how much of this time is just clicking "continue" or "skip" or "Don't Add Max Benefits". Seems like there is a large opportunity to actually streamline the product if the goal was better consumer experience, not increased profit opportunities for Intuit. Only other comment on how product seams to be worse than previous years is less ability to just skip to forms and enter data manually without answering a dozen questions upfront. Not sure of the benefit here, just seems confusing and unnecessary.

TurboTax doesn't work

1 star. Product would not let me Efile any of my returns, and it (and Intuit) could not figure out why. The 1 star is because Intuit promised to refund all of my tax preparation fees. Also, the product tended towards endless loops when trying to review and correct what it thought were errors. It ended up adding duplicate copies of several 1099s. I spent more time troubleshooting TurboTax issues than I did on actually doing the taxes.

Entering Charity Tax Credits

I struggle this year on getting my Tax Credits for charities into the right forms. It's probably my error but I had to wait for the review tax reveiw process to enter the charity codes. I would recommend to have the information entered during the initial process and not wait for the review.

Too Many Fees, Otherwise OK

Fees on top of fees. Turbo Tax is nice because it makes things easier but the fees are kind of ridiculous. Why is there an additional $40 just to take the other fees out of the refund instead of having to pay right away? Having the costs taken out of our returns should be an automatic thing, not an extra thing you have to pay $40 for. It's just sad to see so many fees when it feels unnecessary.

Tax Time Win

TurboTax made it super simple to file both federal and state taxes. The only complaint i have is in regards to "upgrade" this or "Max" that. It kinda felt like watching an add on YouTube "Can we just get to the video already?" Seriously tho, its a great service TurboTax offers. From a loyal user, thanks team till next year.

File free somewhere else!

I've been using Turbotax for years and every year they find a new way to frustrate me. They want to charge $40 extra to use your refund to pay their already ridiculous fees. After finding this out I decided to switch to paying with a card. There's no tab for payments, I had to go all the way back through the federal and state filing tabs to find this section again. They also pressure you to upgrade your plan multiple times. JUST LET ME KEEP THE PLAN I CHOSE AT THE BEGINNING. If I can give them credit for one thing, their website is one of the easier services to understand. I eventually just gave up and filed here because I didn't feel like re entering everything else through a different service. Next year I will be using one of the many free tax filing services you can find on IRS.gov and I encourage anyone who's looking to file their taxes for free to do the same.

Turbo Tax is good but needs upgrade of App

Problems inputting data into Turbotax. Tried both taking photos and using scanned documents. Errors had to be manually corrected in both methods. Over credit of Withholding could not be found and eventually deleted and re-entered my data. While re-entering data, discovered the error had been introduced while entering 1099-INT and not physically deleting data from uncommon blocks and not simply checking the box saying no data was there. Selection of financial companies from which files can be directly imported is inadequate and should be increased including Capital One among other big companies.

If you are not using Turbo Tax, you should be.

Using Turbo Tax is so easy and takes most of the guesswork out of questioning whether I entered the correct information or not. I don't have to read tons of confusing articles to figure out the tax code and deduction possibilities. Turbo Tax makes my life easier at tax time!

A Necessary Evil

I don't appreciate having to pay to do my taxes but I feel more secure having Turbotax automatically assist with entering some of the information, rather than muddling through all the forms myself while fearing that I am making any errors or having to make and report to a physical appointment to file in a tax office.

Great product, but could be better

TurboTax is a great product. It's nice and easy to use, resources are available for questions and concerns, and it connects with banks to make life even easier! But I wish it were easier to know why I'm being charged the amount I am. They have the advertisements everywhere about filing free, and they constantly barrage you with up-sales, but without ever selecting an upgrade, I'm charged premium. You can see some of the features they give you in premium, but there's no way to deny or reject those. I don't need 24/7 access, I don't need live assistance. If I wanted that, I would select it and pay for it. So how do I decline premium? You can't. I had to do some deep digging to find out that it is because my tax situation requires a form that is not included in the base package. Why can't they make that easier to find out? Just show me in the itemized list that I had certain forms that required the premium package.
