TurboTax is the Best Way to Do Taxes on Your Own!

Really great; walks you through! Have used for years and mostly very happy for the cost. Only issue is educational accounts withdrawals (529s) and expenses aren't intuitive and it's easy to miss things that the program won't catch if you aren't smart on the documents you need.

Turbo Tax is good, but costly

Turbo tax is a great tool and helps to do your taxes quick and accurately. The one thing that is a negative is all the fees; you pay for filing, you pay for state tax, you pay for having it direct deposited..... roughly 35% of your return will be eaten up by fees and this is by using the cheapest method to file.

Pretty good, some improvements needed.

Lots of ads and upsell pushes, especially for someone like me who is paying for the service. Also, at the very end of the process there are often random screens that TurboTax asks me to complete. They are like PDF versions of my tax forms and most of the time I have to research to see what these specific items mean. Seems like a wizard could take care of this for me.

Turbo Tax is not very "Turbo"

I understand you need to verify my identity but come on, the redundant questions are ridiculous. Also, I did not like the fact that I had to pay and THEN you come up with more questions on previous tax returns? I had to dig up old tax returns just to "Verify" AGAIN even after the billion verifying questions! And what is with the price of almost $200? I mean, I can go to a preparer and pay that.

pushing products

I have used turbo tax for many years this year it was still easy to enter the information but, unlike past years, it was difficult to choose the turbo tax product I wanted the program forces you to choose the most expensive product with the caveat to adjust at the end of the process this is very difficult to do I entered all of my information without any assistance I tried to change the product at the end even with the instructions I was not able to change from the most expensive product I had to clear and hunt for the product I wanted then restart my return I will think twice next year about using Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax … could be easier to use for seniors

Tried using phone but cumbersome. Lots of having to get out and find documents and trying to get back in. Waste of time. Switched to pad and had better results but still cumbersome. Somethings I needed to do were not available using the phone. Overall I’ve used this product for many years.

Try it! You'll like it!

We have used Turbo Tax to do our tax returns for many years. The process is straight-forward and user friendly. We like the flexibility of working on our tax return at our own pace. The answer boxes clarify terms and address any questions we may have along the way.

Self-Employed integration, User experience

Turbo Tax Quickbooks self employed business expense download tool is not well integrated into Turbo Tax. With no edit access to the expense data and bad data presented on the tax forms I had to delete the work line and start over entering data manually - this discovered after a 50 minute customer service call and I still have no idea where my bank transaction data is??. I would not have used the tool knowing I had no access to expense data. Functionality, transparency, ease of use between Turbo Tax, Turbo Tax Business, and Quickbook Self-employed is not on par with past experience - it is not a robust, seamless solution. I lost a confidence in Intuit which is a problem.

TurboTax if Fine, if Expensive

Reliable user interface. However, when I completed my Federal return, TurboTax said it could not yet file my state return, and that it would let me know when I could do that. I never got notification from TurboTax about the ability to file the State return. When I checked back, the State forms were enabled and submissible. That's a pretty big stumble for a relatively expensive service.

More Inconvenient and Risky this Year

Bought the personal computer version of TurboTax, but could not use because TurboTax no longer supported my operating system version. Could not update the operating system because my computer was no longer supported by the operating system company. Had to abandon the personal computer version of TurboTax. Switched to the more expensive online version of TurboTax. TurboTax was unable to import data from my employer. TurboTax was only able to import partial year information from Vanguard. I had to enter the enter the remaining Vanguard data myself for a partial year. I have less confidence in the return because of all the manual typing. TurboTax would not accept the actual data from my 1095-A form. I had to fill in 1095-A Part III column B with data from HealthCare.gov. I have less confidence in the return because I had to fill in data from a government website.
